This is from an interview in AV Club with Tracy Morgan, who co- stars in Nailed .
AVC: You're scheduled to play a major role in Nailed, David O. Russell's next film. What's your character like?
TM: Well, I play a guy that has an anal prolapse. And we're like a political version of The Wizard Of Oz. And I'm like the lion, and Jessica Biel is Dorothy, and Kurt Fuller is the Tin Man. And we just head off to the government to get health care for everybody. [Laughs.] All three of us have health problems, health issues, and we couldn't get health care. So we travel to the government to get health care. And things happen along the way.
AVC: What is an anal prolapse?
TH: It's where your asshole falls out. When you push too hard, it prolapses, it falls out. I'm lifting weights and I happen to catch a prolapse. Yeah. If you go online, you can see it. It's really crazy.
AVC: So are you trying to get a new asshole? Is that what your character is seeking?
TM: Yeah, I want 'em to fix it.
AVC: Did you do a lot of research into anal prolapses for the role?
TM: No, dude! No, my asshole's never really popped out. [Laughs.] It's a character, dude.
AVC: David O. Russell is known for having unconventional working methods. Did you find that to be the case when you were working on Nailed?
TM: Yeah, he can be. But we all had the same goal in common. We all want great stuff. It's a great movie at the end of the day, so we didn't mind. We went along with it, his methods. We went along with everything he's doing. We know he's a genius, and that was all that mattered.

Nailed is going to be one strange movie, sounds a bit like something John Waters would have made. I can just hear Tracy Morgan talking too, I love him on 30 Rock.
Since Jake can't be Dorothy or one of her friends, I'm thinking the mayor.

I was dazzled. Not so much by the Gyllenhaals’ obvious Hollywood glamor, as by the seeming deliberateness in their family unity—so deliberate that at times it even appeared to be scripted. This was the particular quality that made some diehard fans swear that somewhere in the shadows lurked a Gyllenhaal Publicity Machine.
Let me assure you right here: There is no Gyllenhaal Publicity Machine!
There is, however, the ideologist in charge of disseminating The Official Family Story. And it’s only because her rank has, for the most part, remained unchecked by a tender-hearted mate willing to be influenced by a strong-minded woman (which I suppose can be taken by some to be a form of gallantry).
But time changes things, and it was inevitable that Maggie should find a good-humored, good-looking fella and start her own family—and now it looks like Jake is taking the plunge too. When an intelligent, allegedly independent young man in his late 20s apparently cannot prevent himself from interjecting references to his parents in almost every interview (“I thank my father for choosing my mother” and “The government is like your parents” are two of his more notorious quotes), you know he’s ready for a break.
As luck would have it, the woman born to take him in hand has a family to offer him that mirrors the family of his splendid childhood: a mature mother (like his own mother, three years older than her mate) with a son, 4, and a daughter, 8, around the same age difference as him and his sister.
A few days ago, in an eerie echo of Franny and Zooey, Maggie Gyllenhaal, now 30, imparted to an interviewer, “As you get older and start to look at things that are ‘broken’ about your parents (everybody’s parents have those things), it’s nice to have someone else to ask, ‘Am I crazy?’ or, ‘Was this crazy?’ Jake is very good at figuring that stuff out.”
And in the latest issue of Marie Claire, regarding her regular visits to a therapist, she declared, “For me it’s about getting to know my own mind. It makes it easier to grow, and to grow up. I’m always thinking about what I want to take from my mother and what I don’t.

He walks that way when he's in the dog-house, in the eyes of the world (ie. his peers). I've seen it in a few pictures, and he also looked that way coming out of that Halloween party in LA after the Rome fiasco. Why would Jake be in the dog-house now, hmm?
She knows nothing about Jake or Maggie because everything she wrote about them sound like the articles that have been written about them and nothing more. Don't think they even speak to her.
The Gyllenhaal's have issues. No doubt about that. Just what they are and how much it will impact Jake and Maggie's choices remains to be seen. Maggie has planned and called off her wedding three times. There is always a logistical reason but it seems like commitment phobia to me.

After TDAT he didn't do a movie like that again. At least with that movie he could spin later that it had an environmental message, but not with Pop, it's being done purely for $$$ and he is hoping for a trilogy. True he has done Nailed and Brothers, but he seems to be putting all of his eggs in the basket for Pop. There is no buzz yet for Brothers.
I have a feeling SG knows about CC and her postings, she made a comment on there about Rendition and how she didn't like it and maybe it was because Jake was in it. I think Jake and his Dad had some kind of falling out and SG told CC about it. She made the comment around the same time SG mother passed away and it at least appeared that Jake didn't go to the funeral, he was pictured on the Nailed set.

Very true, I think Jake and Maggie would like to do an occasional blockbuster because it is fun! That's what I get from what he said about working on TDAT. They can do more serious films, but there's nothing wrong with an occasional blockbuster, doesn't mean they don't like what they had been doing, just variety is the spice of life. And there's nothing wrong with making $$$ as long as money and material things don't become the sole reason, IMO.

Jake isn't too swift IMO.He comes off in interviews as intelligent and wordly, but he always sruck me as someone that mimicks people and repeats things he hears and repeats because they sound smart.
He recycles it to make it his own, but i always got the feeling he said things to impress his parents and the press. Not saying he doesn't have his own views, but I bet despite the alleged "family issues" he admires and looks up to his parents. The comments in GQ regarding his father picking his mother speaks volumns because that's how Jake sees how they got together, he chose her and that's what he is doing according to Cantara.
I have gone to a poetry reading of Stephens and i get the morphing thing, gyllenspeak was in full force, sounded a like like Jake or is it visa versa.
The "distancing" is maybe distancing himself from the negative but embracing the "positive"? Maybe he sawhis parents relationship as positive, but the fallout negaive/messy and didn't want to get caught up in it.

Heath's performance has set a new bar for any future action films. He was fearless in his portrayal. Other performances will be measured against that standard, including whatever Jake does in POP. Having seen it, I've been pondering whether the movie would have been as good without him. I think it would have been good, but with him TDK is spectacular.
