Kid Stuff

You think Jake is a Sesame Street kinda guy or a Yo Gabba Gabba boy?

Jake can get the Muppet face pretty easily and in a chat between Elmo and Jake you're not sure who would break into giggles first.

On the other hand Austin could do Sesame Street in earnest, but you know he is getting down with Muno, Brobee, and the rest with DJ Lance Rock on Yo Gabba Gabba when he's got down time on location and there's nothing to watch.

But you could see Jake dancing on Yo Gabba Gabba how could you not with bands like The Shins, The Aggrolites, Cornelius, Shiny Toy Guns, Supernova, Mark Mothersbaugh, Rahzel, The Postmarks, Sugarland, Low, Mýa, The Salteens and series co-creator Jacobs' band, The Aquabats.

And he could join other special guest like Tony Hawk, Laila Ali, Elijah Wood, and Biz Markie.

And come on how could he not fall for Brobee, or want to dance like Nathaniel.

You wonder if they're both watching - you know cause they're good .. uncles.

Don't even start about Boohbahs, you've gotta be tripping watching that and they kind a look like.. oh never mind.

And ok ...
Have the writers of the U.S. version of The Office been reading OMG? Looking at the sneak peeks of this week's episode at Watch with Kristen on E!online - you might think so. I mean a pocket size blonde Barbie in a pink dress who has a unicorn horn and a Moroccan Christmas theme this year. B.J Novak (Ryan) are you or Mindy Kaling (Kelly) the bigger Jakey fan? B. J. come on ... it's ok, we already know Mindy/Kelly has been reading In Touch and OK for weeks in her cube.

I suspect they're both Tickle Me Elmo kind of guys.

So does this mean Jake is accepting applications for a spouse?

Honey, get in line. And in a long one.

That's one audition I'd pass with flying colors.

Yo Gabba Gabba is a cult hit. There are tons of people who watch it not just kids.

Newsweek cover story on why Christianity should be pro gay marriage

A first look at Ricky Martin and his twins. I especially love the wollowing bit from the story:

What is your philosophy on raising your sons?

I love to read books to my sons and tell them stories. I play music for them so they develop their own personalities. I want to give them information and raise them with honesty and love, and give them self-esteem and a lot of acceptance.

Thanks for the link Wicked.

I went to a taping of the Daily Show yesterday, which was a lot of fun. Mike Huckabee was his guest, and Jon Steweart really pushed him on the gay marriage issue, and how his arguments against it were not logical. When Stewart pointed out how polygamy was the norm in the Bible, Huckabee fell back on tradition and the children/biology arguments.

It's nice to see people like Stewart and Keith Olbermann not only keeping the issue in the spotlight, but being advocates for the right to marry.

That second picture of Jake is a crack up. That kind of looks like a muppet face.

Shortest comment ever today! :)

Wow that must have been some show, Destiny. None of those lame arguments hold up - some people don't want kids, and same sex couples can have biological kids.

Thanks for the link to the article too, Wicked. I love the title. On Mutual Joy.

I can't wait to see Ricky's twins. I love his parenting philosophy. :)

Hiding out in my office as the party continues. Got some punch that can melt your shoes, nice, quiet and cool in here. Just chilling out for a little bit. Everybody is having a great time, and the party is a great success.

Jon Stewart To Mike Huckabee: "At What Point Did You Choose Not To Be Gay?"

One of the best things about the Daily Show is that Jon Stewart can engage an opponent respectfully and logically without devolving into shouty crackers. Last night, he took Mike Huckabee to task for being against gay marriage. (Reminder: today is Day Without A Gay, when gay workers are encouraged to "call in gay.") Stewart poked holes in Huckabee's rhetoric, arguing that marriage has been constantly redefined in the past 5,000 years. "You write that marriage is the bedrock of our society. Why would you not want more couples to buy into the stability of marriage?" Stewart asked. Huckabee's argument comes down to his conviction that homosexuality is a choice, to which Stewart responded, "I think it's the difference between what you believe gay people are and what I do…I'll tell you this: religion is far more of a choice than homosexuality."

What marriage would look like if it was defined by the Bible:

A. Marriage in the United States shall consist of a union between one man and one or more women. (Gen 29:17-28; II Sam 3:2-5)

B. Marriage shall not impede a man's right to take concubines in addition to his wife or wives. (II Sam 5:13; I Kings 11:3; II Chron 11:21)

C. A marriage shall be considered valid only if the wife is a virgin. If the wife is not a virgin, she shall be executed. (Deut 22:13-21)

D. Marriage of a believer and a non-believer shall be forbidden. (Gen 24:3; Num 25:1-9; Ezra 9:12; Neh 10:30)

E. Since marriage is for life, neither this Constitution nor the constitution of any State, nor any state or federal law, shall be construed to permit divorce. (Deut 22:19; Mark 10:9)

F. If a married man dies without children, his brother shall marry the widow. If he refuses to marry his brother's widow or deliberately does not give her children, he shall pay a fine of one shoe and be otherwise punished in a manner to be determined by law. (Gen 38:6-10; Deut 25:5-10)

G. In lieu of marriage, if there are no acceptable men in your town, it is required that you get your dad drunk and have sex with him (even if he had previously offered you up as a sex toy to men young and old), tag-teaming with any sisters you may have. Of course, this rule applies only if you are female. (Gen 19:31-36)

Whew, Destiny! I remember some of those but that last one's a dilly!

Yeah, there are things in the Old Testament that are a little out there. I used to hold It blindly to my chest without having read the entire thing, which I still hold it to me dearly, but through the help of some recent class discussions, have learned that it is open to interpretation and not everything is black & white. Boy, what I have learned in the last 3 or so years - it's been mindchanging to say the least.

We just got engaged! We were hoping for a spring wedding but when we went to the churches to reserve a date we were told that nothing's available. Apparently they're all booked up with animal sacrifice parties. Damn those lambs.

I want to marry Jon Stewart. The man is a legend and sexy as hell.

Destiny, how exciting to see the Jon Stewart show taping. And such a significant episode to boot.

I can't imagine a successful vote to strike in this economy. The industry has barely recovered from the writer's strike. I have not been following their issues - not very important vs. other things right now- but timing is everything and I dont think this is the right time for a strike. Besides, we need more Austin and Jake movies.

New York Film Critics Circle chooses 'Milk'
Gus Van Sant's moving drama also wins best actor for Penn and supporting actor for Josh Brolin.
By Susan King, Los Angeles Times Staff Writer

Gus Van Sant's "Milk" received best picture honors Wednesday from the New York Film Critics Circle.

The moving drama about openly gay San Francisco Board of Supervisors member Harvey Milk, who was slain 30 years ago, also won best actor for Penn and best supporting actor for Josh Brolin. Penn also won the best actor award yesterday from the Los Angeles Film Critics Assn.

This award is a big deal. The Oscar for best picture most likely will be Milk, Slumdog Millionaire, or The Curious Case of Bejamin Button.

If Ricky Martin wants to raise his children in honesty he needs to come out of the closest like Clay Aiken did. Ricky is living a lie.

Trent is missing old Jake too:

It’s been ages since we’ve seen Hottie McHotness Jake Gyllenhall out and about and absolute EONS since we’ve seen him out alone (ie. sans Reese Witherspoon) … but this week, Jakey poo did step out on the town in the Mayfair district of London, England for a little solo dinner at Scott’s restaurant:

Boo! I hate that it’s so cold in London these days cuz that means that Jakey has to be all bundled up from head to toe. I much preferred seeing him out in public back in the warm Summer months … when he wore much less ;) Still, I think Jake is able to muster up a tiny Le Sigh from me … it’s been too long. Come back to us, Jake — we miss you!!!

A Gossip Boy Walks Into a Gay Bar
"Gossip Girl baddie Chuck Bass, aka actor Ed Westwick hung out last night in NYC's West Village at the lovely basement bar, Marie's Crisis on Grove Street, deep in the heart of the super-gay Christopher Street hood." (Cute, because your publisher's first visit to a gay bar was Marie's Crisis. He can sometimes still be found there.)

"Trent is missing old Jake too"
Trent loves his Jakey Poo and most definitely believes that Reeke is a fake. He said it from the beginning and never mentions them or has any pics of them. Whenever there are those rare pics of Jake out alone is the only time Trent will feature them in his blog. It's nice to see one gossip blogger that hasn't been bought out by Reeke's PR.

Anonymous said...

Thank G*d for Trent. An island of honesty in a sea of phoniness.

prairiegirl said...

Alot of people missing the old Jake.

Reeke is only fooling the mainstream masses, those who either refuse to see or who completely, obliviously don't care. Does have to be kind of frustrating to their managers that they can't stomp out the entire fire. There's still alot of burning embers out there that just won't go out.

I agree Jon Stewart is hot. He has mischievous eyes and a constant smirk on his face. He was in a movie that I happened to catch part of. Even had a kissing scene. I don't know what the name of it was but I didn't know he did any acting.

Well, just got back from a little shopping/looking around. Time to hit the hay; I'm bushed.

destiny said...

I don't think even Jon Stewart calls what he did in movies acting. :-D

That's great about Milk winning some awards, just wish it'd been Franco or Ledger for supporting actor Brolin was good, but I don't think he deserved to win. Plus there's that whole Diane Lane/911 mystery.

It would be better if Ricky Martin came out, but what he's doing is a far far cry from J&A. It's really the glass closet. He's regularly seen with male friends, he's not bearding or pretending to be straight, and in talking about how he had his children there was no talk of women in any context, e.g., not finding the right woman to have children with. As far as I know there is no gossip of a steady boyfriend or partner, so I don't think he's hiding someone who is also going to be a father to his twins.

About Torso: "headlined by Matt Damon, Casey Affleck and Rachel McAdams." So, no Jake?

I so agree - it's a lovely thing, his being a father, and the twins are absolutely beautiful too. To me, he's not hiding anything, and he's all but saying he's a gay man. I expect we will hear that one day soon. :)

Personal assistant? You don't put up the I want an honest life for my kids and then don't say it. Don't use the kids for the press and dance around your sexuality. Are you in or out?

prairiegirl said...

It's hard to come down on somebody when at least he/she is not out there flaunting a fake relationship. I like the term glass closet, as Destiny called it. And it's not like Ricky Martin is in high demand by the media anyway. Maybe he's still active entertainment wise elsewhere, but I haven't seen him on any TV specials/shows or in print media here in the States other than these latest developments in his private life.
He hasn't had a hit since Livin La Vida Loca, has he? How long ago was that.

I don't know why, though, all these celebrities are trumpeting their kids to all the magazines/entertainment gossip shows in big pictorial spreads anyway. Seems to be the "in" thing to do these days.

USA shows Wings reruns in the morning. I Loved that show - Lowell Mathers was absolutely hilarious. Right now it looks like they're showing the very first original episode.

Well, gotta run to work. Hope everyone has a good day today - we are on the downhill slide!
