Just Add Water

It's the start to Memorial Day Weekend here in the U.S. and the unofficial start to summer. So how can this Austin Friday not be about something that totally summer and totally the tall Texan.

Austin's got serious game when it comes to waterskiing, more than anyone else in Hollywood. And the studios are all about doing remakes, saves money, guaranteed audience.

So would happen if his management group sat around to brainstorm how to find a movie to remake and pitch it.

1953 - Easy To Love
You know find some hot swimmer who wants to break into movies, hey what about Olympian Amanda Beards in the Esther Williams part, Austin as Van Johnson. Romcom on skis. We could get it cheap and totally redo. Mark that. Get someone to work on a spec.

1967 - Clambake
Elvis - millionaire's son who trades identities with an water-skiing instructor to learn about life and love. Austin loves to do the hair switcharoo. And it has motorcycles. And he could get a chance to sing on film. You know musicals are big. Mark that one and get a spec.

1978 - Jaws 2
No way. Part too small and a waterskiing party going missing where does that go for him for a part. Pass.

1983 - Jaws 3-D
Hey more screen time that Jaws 2. Ocean themed amusement park under attack from a great white shark. Stinkaroo and it was in 3-D and it couldn't even sell. Bad ju-ju don't go there. Pass.

1987 - Delta Fever
"Against a background of competitive waterskiing, a young man is prodded by his family, friends and girlfriend into adult responsibility." You know this one could work. 20 years since it came out, the biggest star in it was Leif Garrett and Uncle Jesse from Duke's of Hazard. Hard to find on VHS. We could rework it and this has legs. Get going I want to see something in my email by the end of the day on this one.

1988 - The Great Outdoors
Who wants to remake this one? Fat guy on waterskis is too funny. Leave it alone. Suck My Wake. Classic.

1989 - License To Kill (James Bond)
Could redo scene were Bond waterskis behind the plane throws out the pilot and takes over. Austin does look good in a tux. But have to do a low budget straight to DVD ripoff. Still mark it a maybe.

1989 - Weekend at Bernie's
Dead guy with a smirk waterskiing. Got admit it sold big. Could we rework that he's not dead but in a coma? A comedy and Austin, something different. Work on it and get back to me.

1992 - Meatballs 4
Sorry no can do. Corey Feldman Waterskis. No one can match that. No one can ever match the majesty of the Coreys and Waterskis. Damn I can't even say that with a straight face, and I bs for a living. Pass.

1992 - The Goofy World of Sports
Hmmm. Ears, Waterskiis, Disney. Hey. Don't tell Austin I said that. Pass.

1994 - My Father The Hero
He could play the guy Ben put him on skis. They could age the daughter a bit but would it mess with the story too much? How young can Austin play nowadays? They used some waterskiing champion Hazelwood(?) for stunts. Hey Austin could save them some cash and do his own and be the advisor for the old guy dad. Who could do Depardieu's part? Holy crap did you see that Kathryn Heigel was the daughter!

2005 - Cheaper By The Dozen 2

Too new but he could get a guest spot on the Bonnie Hunt show. Reminder: call CW and work something for OTH Austin and date for an interview on her show.

JFC Discussion - Votes are in and it's next weekend May 29-30.
So get the DVD's, look online, borrow from the library or from friends and join us for discussion about Episode 5: His Visit Day 4.

Remember a great resource for JFC - is Calamity Dan's JFC site.

OMG Movie Club
It was a tie between the June 12th-13th, and the 19th-20th, so using the old adage the sooner the better, OMG Movie Club will be June 12th -13th.

But still need to know what you want to discuss. One more time to vote. From the polls that people wanted a LGBT themed movie but we also got a few other suggestions for movie titles. The poll is open till Sunday morning EST, and you can vote once per day.

Happy Austin Friday.
Happy Memorial Day weekend.
Here's to the start to unofficial start of summer.
Any big plans for yours?

Good day, Hopeful!! Great to see you. You take the words right out of my mouth; so well done.

Nice to see Jake out with a male again. No ringside seats available this time around, looks like. And the same looking slate blue T shirt, too. hmmm. Interesting collection of people at that game last night, with the exception of ol' Jack. Ol' Jack doesn't miss too many of those, does he? He must love his Lakers. That's pretty cool.

Well, tonight is free. But the rest of the weekend I'll be dogsitting. Puddy & Nikki, the Aus. Shepherd and black Lab. They're funny, especially the ol' Pudster. He's kind of a big baby, whines sometimes, but it's so cute and I just have to indulge it and he's okay. One of the things I love about them is I always feel so protected. They can sound so fierce when they bark and when someone comes to the door, it's great to have both of them standing there with me.

You know, seems to me since this bearding is apparently at an endless standstill, we need to find Reese a guy, for gosh sakes. The problem is finding somebody who would, nah, I won't go there. What we need is to find an older, more established man. A ship builder or someone like that, an older gentleman to whom the physical aspects of a relationship aren't of a priority. Then, maybe she'd consider tearing up this contract.

Just a thought. Hey, matchmaking is older than time itself. If this is what we need to resort to, then I say, let's fix 'er up. Maybe ol' Jack. Jack's probably not into getting it on too much anymore. Maybe he'd consider...and Laker seats to boot. sigh. No, he won't work. There's no way he'd put up with her stuff. What we need to do is go for the obscure man. The unknown man. May have to search out that Fortune 500 Top 100 Wealthy Man list.

Happy Austin Friday! Everyone have a great day, ok?

Thanks for the well wishes guys. Work has definitely become more stressful for me in the past few months. While I'm glad to have some income coming in I also feel like im just completely overworked. More demands from everyone. Nothings ever seems to be good enough.

"Hope I am not making it any tougher for you to visit here. I am such a grouch. Just so angry at Jake still from that concert."

No Tom, your not. Actually coming here makes me feel better. I know Im among friends. Im still very upset too but right now JG is totally on the bottom of my mental totem pole.

Im looking forward to the movie club. I voted for Chris & Don.

Oh well, its friday right? Happy friday everybody : )

***I'm throwing the new Star Trek out for consideration. It would be easily available to see and we could compare the male bonding dynamics with TDAT.***

I voted for Chris and Don but I like this suggestion too.

***Could we rework that he's not dead but in a coma?***

You are a mess, Spesh! I screamed when I read this. I think you and PG should collaborate on a post sometime!

This guy again?

If I am not mistaken he's a friend of Austin's.

Love the pictures of Austin today. What a body and he looks so comfortable on water.

Is anyone else having trouble getting into the southerngothic website? I've had problems last 2 days.

Jake looks like he was missing Austin while watching that game. Remembering happier times, I think. The whole bearding fiasco is a classic tale of Oh what a tangled web we weave when first we practice to deceive.

"Is anyone else having trouble getting into the southerngothic website?"

Yes.

FYI, I am not going to vote on the movie pic. Turns out I will be traveling on business the days of the discussion. Since I wont be participating, I'll let those that will make the selection. It's not often business occupies my weekends, but right now I am just happy to have a job so I am not complaining.

prairiegirl said...

LOL, hey I was the only one to vote for TDAT!

come on, you guys!!
:(

Clarity, sounds to me like you might need some Cheez Its to help out. I might need to fedex you some.

I used to love this song until I found out that what's his name Kid Rock boycotts ITunes because they price their songs so low. Yeah, well, here's to Kid Rock. Not all of us make $1 mil a year, buddy. I'm thankful for .99 cent songs. Don't tell me these artists aren't still making money. Crying, crying. Maybe if these artists could fill a cd with 15 every-single-one-of-them-good-songs, I'd pay $ 15.00 again for one of them. Why should I buy a Variety Pack of Quaker Oat Breakfast bars if I only like one flavor? I might have to give away all the others, and only keep the peanut butter ones. That's not a wise purchase. Can he blame me?
Sorry 'bout that. Sometimes these people who make oodles of money forget what it was like to be on a tight budget.
Great selection, tho, Special! lol, it did used to rock for me.

prairiegirl said...

Can you tell it's a pretty empty office today?

lol.

Sorry about that rant - I kinda let go a bit. It did kind of irritate me, tho.

Special K said...

PG this is someone else doing Kid Rock's song - and it was only 99cents so enjoy at least 97 cents of it, I think Kid Rock might get 2 cents.

About Southern Gothic. They have been in the process updating their website.

Try this address and see if it work, it's today's post.

That SGP link doesn't work either, it throws me out to "Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage" error page.

Try Firefox if you have it, it worked for me for SoGo.

good morning you all

I hope you have a great day. I came to do my vote duty for the movie discussion in June. It wasn't easy but after several considerations I choose PrairieGirl team and voted TDAT. This movie isn't a masterpiece but it means something important for me and you too I am sure lol so....

Who has won yesterday at the lakers game? If I judge the annoyed faces of Jake and his friend I bet on the lakers defeat!!!
Ahh men and their games lol. Beside the figure skating I am not generally a good spectator for others sports.( I am really a girlish girl, shame on me lol)

To answer your questions PrairieGirl about the egypt addicted men I was talking about yesterday, he is in my formation to be guide!! He is really kind and so passionnate. Always great to meet such people in such circontances.

I have fingers crossed for "the imagenarium of Doctor Parnassus", Guilliam presented it this morning!
Hope it will have good praises. I saw the photocall and only Guilliam and the redhead model was there. Deep, farell and Law will be in cannes in the evening on the red carpet I think.

destiny said...

Is that really the same guy in the newest Laker's photo? Looks a bit different to me. But I agree with M, Jake looks sad, but he has nobody but himself to blame because he's put himself in that cement closet. Is Austin in Italy? Sitting somewhere else in the arena with another friend?
Personally I hope the former.

It would be fun to see Austin in one of those old surfer movies, or as a James Bond type.

Finally watched the finale of OTH, agreed with everything you said about it Special. And boy was it laying on the syrup, good thing it is not always like that or I couldn't watch. And the scene where Austin whips off the shirt, omg, so hot. They really are great together. One aside, you just know they have Sophia standing on something when they kiss because she's what, at least a foot shorter than Austin?

Special K said...

Clay Aiken trashes AI and Adam Lambert

Really wonder what caused him to respond like this to such a benign question as "what did you think about American Idol?"

Destiny - in the long shot they have Brooke in sky high heels. But I agree it is an apple box for Sophia to stand on for the those kisses. There is a whole thread on a OTH forum titled about more shirtless Julian scenes in season 7.

The friends and Lakers - I did think that maybe they were there as four friends who went together and split up and sat in different seats in the Staples Center. Hey it isn't uncommon during playoffs and would go under the radar.

And yes Elinor the Lakers lost the game, but are still in the series. (sorry this Celtic fan is not crying for them )

Meg said...

Wow, Jake looks really sad and lost in those new Lakers pics. Even if he's got himself into this bind, you can't help but feel reallt sorry for him. He looks like a lost puppy.

rachel alexandra said...

It was a great game last night, but I didn't see Jake, Tom Cruise looked great - also as a Celtics fan and fan of Denver, and I'm not crying for the Lakers either, love to see 'em lose, but I love a good competition also and a good horse race, and gotta give 'em credit. It's a unisex trait. I consider myself a girly girl, but I love sports, and enjoying sharing that with friends. I voted for Big Eden, always wanted to see it.

Have a great Memorial Day holiday all, and see in Belmont. Eat my dust! ;)

Don't worry, he is just pissed off cause the lakers. Go Celtics.

Special K said...

With no Celtics and no Bruins in the playoffs what's a fan in Boston to do? Red Sox baby!

Leaving soon for an early start and to celebrate a birthday of cohort in crime since college, before tonight's game vs. the Mets at Fenway. (Dice K vs. Santana). Can't wait.

Have a great day and weekend everybody.

Aw, I just missed Special. See ya, Special, have a great time. Boy, don't stir up too much trouble. That sounded a little ornery send-off, didn't it?

I've been dinkin' around on google, trying to find a better Massachusetts picture for my work desktop screen. I found a great one of the ocean shore, but when I use it as my desktop screen, it's this tiny stamp size. And if I stretch it, it gets all blurry and you can't hardly enjoy it. So I found this little building that's covered in ivy. It's kind of grey but I can't for the life of me find out what it is. I have a feeling it's an historical house or little church or something. There's a few touristy looking people walking near it and coming out of it. It's really cute. And John Adams' birthplace home looks really great. Boy, does it look old and the furnishings inside are so colonial looking. I just love that period of time.

Then, I was googling restaurants in the area. lol. Already thinking about food. It'd be cool to find some grilled salmon or scallops or something.

Do you have a Long John Silver's or Red Lobster, Special????

LOLLLLLLL!!! I'm kidding, I'm kidding. guffaw, there's probably a unique little place around there that might be a little more authentic, you reckon, Wicked?? Wicked, we need to find a place that serves some of that Barilli tortellini. I can't get that out of my mind & I haven't gotten to look for it yet.
I wish everyone could be there; that would be so much fun. Can you imagine the fun we'd have?

Table for 30, please!!. And we'll need a gavel, a chalkboard to keep track of zingers, language translator, and hmmmm, what else. We might've needed a little boxing ring to settle a few differences of opinions, lol.

Well, I'll have to check out the pics when I get home. I'm afraid to get on IHJ here because I only know my password on my laptop. It comes up automatically and I just hit enter. So, I don't want to mess that up. So, sounds like sad Jakey again, huh? I doubt that would be about the game results. Well, who knows. But, like Destiny said....

prairiegirl said...

Wow, Elinor, so are you hanging out around the festivities at Cannes? Are you that close? That would be fantastic to see. That has really been a full week of activities, hasn't it? And so many stars attending, too.

I tell you what. Everytime I get on People.com or cnn.com on the entertainment page, or whatever, there's that Pattinson guy. He is everywhere you turn. If there is someone who visits/comments here and is a big/huge fan of his, can you inform me what I'm missing out on?

Okay, well, I'm going to go shoot off an email to a friend who I kind of lost touch with there for awhile and she lives in the next town. Good grief. That's bad, isn't it?

We are on a downhill slide towards that wheeeee! trip down the back of Dino and the 1530-1600 whistle. I know everyone around here is in a very congenial mood, lol. Amazing, isn't it?

prairiegirl said...

I did also want to agree with you on that shirt tossing scene in OTH, Destiny. That was pretty darn good. He's gotten a little buff in the shoulders. I think him & Sophia have great chemistry on the screen. I just find myself rooting for them; they make a great couple, on TV, anyway.

Elinor said...

"Wow, Elinor, so are you hanging out around the festivities at Cannes? Are you that close?"

Oh god I would like !! but no , I follow the festivities at home via my TV LOL, we have a channel which broadcast the last news with critics non stop.
BUT I am not desperate, one day I will be on Cannes stairs LOL

PrairieGirl I am so agree with you about Pattison!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! He came in one of my favorite show "Le grand journal" and all the 15 years old girls screamed like crazy, it was so ridiculous I was ashamed for them. Oh well it's just fun I guess and not for long, til the next "guy of the moment".

Wicked said...

Catching up after spending the afternoon/evening in the park reading. Finally a nice day, but we're supposedly in for rain the next few days.

Clarity, sorry you had a rough week at work. I hope you at least get a break this weekend.

PG, I love that name Puddy for a dog. My sister is on her second Aussie, so I know exactly what they're like. Very loyal, but also a handful.

Very strange about Aiken, isn't he usually a "gentlemen:"? And I can't help wondering that this has something to do with Lambert being gay.

prairiegirl said...

Tom, who're you talking about picking him up? rent a st8 guy, lol.
Jake does look a little "not there" at that game. Maybe they just caught some bad shots. Wonder how come we only got 3 pics instead of 65? Notice both guys are wearing identical charcoal grey T shirts.

You know, could be Austin is in Italy right now. Would explain why Jake's been looking a little lacking in the grooming & fashion departments in a couple of these latest outings.

The absolute sharpest he has looked, you guys, in the past year or so? The 2 sets of biking pictures with Austin. And that's in spandex for crying out loud! His colors were bright, they fit well (lol, well, guess so since they were lycra), outfitted to the 9's, and he himself looked sharp and in that one helmet shot, he looked sexily rumpled. I'm trying to think of any other ones where he looked not only well dressed, but everything else was spot on & striking. I'm sure there are a good handful that I'm not thinking of right off, but it just seems to me that in the biking pics, everything was on, the look, the dress, the confidence, and that smile.

Well, that's the observation tonight, for what it's worth. I'm off to bed; it's been a hectic week. Clarity, I wish you a little R & R this weekend. Put your feet up & drink a flavored tea.
I look forward to spending time with Nikki & Puddy (yeah, Destiny, he's a Seinfeld fan, for sure). He has a band and they go play out of town gigs when I dogsit for him. He used to go to Elton John's Oscar party in past years but this year he didn't go. When he went last year, he said it was getting too expensive and that was probably his last one. Downstairs in his basement, he has all kinds of pictures taken with celebrities. I've only been down there a couple of times. It kind of feels like "sacred ground" so I just don't go down there, lol.

And then tomorrow night, get taken out for a delayed birthday dinner.
It'll be Chelly's in Kansas City; they have really good food. They're in my old neighborhood where I used to live. The great thing about Mexican restaurants is you get instant gratification with the chips & salsa.

flf said...

Apparently Clay Aiken has apologised. Full article on JJ. Sorry but he sounds a bit uh, dumb.

Watched AI final and thought Adam was fabulous. Nearly fell off my chair when Kris won.

Yeah, I hope Austin is in Italy. Italian guys are HOT!

Jake looks like a deer caught in the headlights.

Went to the Nats game last night. Lost 4-2 in 12 innings. Oh well, it's still a great ballpark.

Special K said...

Think Jake is looking a little down at the Lakers game is because the Lakers have been taking their fans on a bit a rollercoaster in these playoffs. Overconfident and underachieving. They were almost out of it in the previous round.

They lost the game that night he went. And this is one time he is really into the game, he had no distractions good (Austin) or bad (who's name escapes me ...Re..Ree..something)

Has anyone every thought the post about Italy was not just a CYA him at the wedding that day but if any pictures of him popped up later of him, even alone getting to Italy or in Italy at the time of the wedding?

Dates are easy to fudge around with just look at half the business pictures we've seen of the all business pair.

Going to the Sox as always was great and it was ruckus with the Mets' fans. Sox lost 5-3 but hey any day at Fenway is a great day.
