There is nothing like slipping into a cool theater on a warm summer day and checking out the newest movies of the summer , but the same could be said for movie club too. It has been a while since we have a movie club and it's time to take a little break during the lazy days of summer and get back to a little fun.

I am feeling clueless on movie suggestions, anything would be fine with me, as long as it is something that could generate some discussion.
I've got American Idol on the brain today, I couldn't get through to vote at all last night, so hoping that is a good sign.
Despite hating Perez, I looked at his post on the guy he thinks is Adam Lambert's boyfriend, and all the comments. According to the comments he usually ignores or has nasty things to say about American Idol, so some are talking about Perez's opportunism. Some people are also wondering about all the specific talk about a boyfriend coming from Perez right before the final vote. I have to say I wonder what his motives are in waiting until now to run all these posts.
Then add the fact that I hate the way Perez goes after safe targets and thinks he's being so edgy, all while promoting the bearding of A and B list actors. There were tons of comments about what a cute couple they make, but then there were some hateful, homophobic comments, and referring to Lambert as a faggot, mostly from a couple of posters commenting over and over again. Not my blog, but I wonder why Perez leaves the really ugly ones up, sometimes I think Perez is almost encouraging the homophobes with the way he runs his blog.

Suggestions for movies - a few that I like and a couple I have suggested before
First Big Eden. Just a sweet love story in NW Montana. Henry, a NY artist returns to take care of his grandfather in Montana, see his best friend Dean. Henry has to come to terms with the fact of their relationship and his unrequited love for him. All the while Pike, the extremely shy Native American general store owner find himself falling in love with Henry. And the whole town get involved to get Pike and Henry together.
And then Psycho Beach Party - by Charles Busch (Take off on the classic Giget with a twist, including Busch in drag as the Police Chief, Laura Ambrose with multiple personalities, and Xander! (Nicholas Brendon)
Finally Sordid Lives. As the tagline says - A black comedy about white trash. Based on Del Shore's play it has Lesley Jordan doing his best Tammy Wynette, Delta Burke with a gun, Olivia Newton John, and of course a favorite Beth Grant - as Sissy Hickey all coming together in small town Texas for a funeral.

HI guys, I am back from vacation. Had a wonderful time, really our best vacation ever. I am so behind on commments and Jake news, it's not funny. I kept up the first week but lost it all the second so I apologize now for not being up to speed. I'll be like a newcomer for a few days.

Trying to shove that one way under the rug. Having a little bit of a challenge with that today, for some reason.
Man, I am all by my lonesome out here today! I'm Charlie the Lonesome Cougar. My little buddy is in some training for the rest of the day, getting a freebie catered lunch to boot, oops, spoke too soon, the supers just all got out of their meeting with the BB (big boss). I'm sure that means someone might have to glance over my shoulder. I'm glad I got my popcorn done in the microwave before BB takes over it. She always throws her Lean Cuisines & Smart Ones in there, it dings! and is done, but then she forgets all about it. And no one wants to take it out so they can cook their food because, well, she's the BB.
The other thing we always have to contend with is this habit of her leaving kitchenette cabinet doors open. Our company is so huge on safety that it's practically tattoo'd on all our butts, and every single time she gets into a cabinet to get a cup, plate, salt & pepper, she leaves the cupboard door partially open! I am not kidding. It's a running joke with some of us girls. We have to constantly go around closing them after her before someone pokes an eye out. Even the microwave door has gotten left open a bunch of times. Unbelievable. Does anyone else have someone in their office they have to pick up after??
And don't bring up about dishes in the sink. You know, I could probably write a little book on "Tales of an Office Kitchenette".
There's the Rotel Dip that always gets left in the mini crockpot, in the fridge until it's probably overgrown with bacteria. For some reason, everytime we have a snackday, my super makes Rotel in this mini crockpot. Everyone likes Rotel but we never finish it and sometimes there's so much other different things to eat, that it gets ignored. So it goes back in the fridge and it sits in there. And sits. And sits. I always have been the one to give in & clean it. It makes my lil buddy so mad that I do. Hey, it takes up room in that tiny fridge! Well, this last time, we all refused to wash it. It stayed in there from my birthday until our Cinco de Mayo lunch. She kept telling us, "Guys, there's Rotel in the fridge we gotta eat up". And my lil buddy said "Don't you wash that either!"
Alright, alright, I won't.Well, the morning of the Cinco de Mayo lunch, she brought up about the Rotel again. And we all kind of hem haw'd. Heck, it'd been in there forever! Plus, we really needed the room for the Cinco de Mayo food. It wasn't going to be any good, anyways. So my buddy told her she better take it out & wash it. My lil buddy's so blunt, I swear. Well, she took it out, put it in the sink, filled it with soapy water, then left it. And it sat there for a couple of days. lolll! None of us would wash it. Finally, she washed it.
Isn't that something? We probably won't be having Rotel anytime soon. Doesn't anybody else have these things happen in their office??? How come I'm like the only one, lol? Nobody gets on your intercom and plays with the phone keys? Wicked, I can't believe you would do that.
Lol, I'll be sunk if they ever find out I spill this stuff on here. Some of the things that have happened, though, are firmly entrenched in our Dept Lore. They are legendary stories passed on from new employee onto the next. And we all have to re-tell the story again to the "new" person.
Like the time one of our whse supers made Texas something or other, a big ol' honkin' bowl of it. It was excellent; it had avocados, corn, beans, tomatoes, etc etc. It really was splendid. But he made such a huge bowl of it and we didn't finish it all. Well, it was Friday afternoon before a holiday and us girls got on him to clean his bowl and he better take it home. So what does ol' brilliant do? He poured the remainder down our kitchenette sink!! That thing doesn't have a garbage disposal, what in the heck?! And it stopped up our sink, it backed up and sat in there. 'Course, he's over there, going "Oh oh..." and we go over there and that stuff is all over that sink and it looks like.... well, you know what it looked like, it looked like someone got sick in there. And we didn't have a plunger or anything. So he said "Well, it'll have to wait til we all get back". And he left! And one of the girls had a cow. "We can't leave that like that! What is the matter with him?!" So she had to go to Dollar General, got some Liquid Plumber and a plunger, and in a couple of minutes, that girl had that sink running smooth.
And then here he comes back with the same supplies. lollll! Oh, don't worry about it, buddy, she took care of it for ya.
We have never let him forget that either. We're always telling him, "And don't be dumping that down the sink!!"
Cripes. It's always been something.
Welcome back M, glad you had a good trip. I'd love to hear some of the details too.
I don't think our place is as bad as yours PG, but there are certainly things that I just can't believe. I always wonder if people act like that at home, or do they think someone is going to clean up after them just because they're at work. One example: we have a large glass bowl full of sugar and sweetner packets. Well, someone in the office who uses the artifial sweetner was throwing the used packets back into the bowl rather than the trashcan that was probably a foot away. Someone finally had to put up a sign about it. And don't even get me started on the women's bathroom. And that goes for most of this area of the country. You're likelier to find a clean outhouse or rest stop in the middle of nowhere out West than you are to find one in the nicest restaurants in NYC. ortheastern part of the country

Oh, and Destiny, my lil buddy & her daughter both couldn't get through on the phone lines of Idol last night. And she said she started dialing a few minutes early. But it just kept saying All Circuits Were Busy. I'll have to watch it tonight. I heard they both did really well. I'll be happy for either one; I'd really rather Adam win, but if Kris does, that wouldn't exactly be horrible. That guy is so goodlooking it's not even funny.
Lunch hour 's over, lol, long over, I think. Back to the salt mines.

Thanks for the Zachary Quinto link Destiny. I hope he doesn't become Tabloid fodder and keeps his private life private. He's got a fantastic role in a really good franchise and imo sure doesn't need the cheap publicity.
Destiny, I've gotten caught up in the Idol season too, mostly because of Adam. He's really amazing and I love his confidence in himself. It's interesting to see such a prominent gay person being at the forefront of such a huge show. From what I've seen there is a lot of love out there for him as well as a lot of hate.
Interesting thoughts on Perez timing of posting those pics - couldn't he have waited one more day??? Good question about why he lets such hateful comments remain on his blog. I certainly wouldn't.

I'll have to think about the movie club a bit more but Big Eden is a good one and Chris & Don came to mind too because I think there could be some really good discussions on that one. Such a big age difference in any type of relationship would be challenging i'm sure.

Prairie Girl, your recap of chores waiting for me was dead on, uncanny even. But you left out about 350 pages of slash now waiting to be read. It's a good thing a long weekend is coming up.
This was our 4th trip to Italy, so we concentrated on the north visiting Milan, Bologna, Lake Garda, Lake Como, Venice and points in between. Tourism is down, so we walked into reservation only restaurants with no reservations and no waiting, had no lines anywhere. It was great. I loved Venice, though I can imagine that in normal years, it would be way too crowded. Our hotel building was a former palazzo built in 1564. The current owner, a countess, still resides in the upper portion of the building, but sold the lower 2 floors to the hotel. The building has been in her family all those years. Amazing. Lake Como was spectacular.

Re the Jake/Deacon pics, they were just like Reeke pics, oddly reserved and distant. Like friends or acquaintances, not family.
Re yesterdays pics of Austin looking at Jake, I recall an insider saying that they took one look at each other at the TDAT audition and could not keep their eyes off each other. It really shows.

m, sure the economy cannot be better in Italy than elsewhere but it is also rather 'low season' there right now. Other that Venice, the other places are not so full of tourists at this time of the year.
i think it's kinda funny that in the short time i've been hanging out here, our interest and even our outrage at Reeke has fizzled to almost zilch. even us, a small but extremely diehard group of fans, has been smothered by boredom.

flf!! You know, I had a big ol' comment going last night late, but when I finally hit publish, there was some stupid error and I lost the whole thing. Aaaargh, and it was so late, I didn't have the energy or memory recoup to get it all back on there.

HI Orchid and Clarity. Nice to you you ladies. Sounds like you had a really great vacation m. Everyone that I have ever met that has went to Italy has had so many wonderful things to say. I was in Venice when I was 17. I bet for sure I didnt appreciate it then as much as would now.
Little dissappointed with the Idol finale last night. Cant help but think some of the gays issues hurt Adam in votes. You can bet the haters were out there voting away for the straight guy. But Kris has a really nice voice and seems like a really good kid. He actaully said that Adam was the rightful winner after he won.
Your right PG they put themselves in perfect position for good photos. They got it down pat. But what is up with Jake the Fake does he have a metal bar that runs down his back or something. Maybe that is why he goes to the doctor every week.
Has anyone noticed that the weekely Dr visits are over or at least not being published. Obviously we got it right. Jake is going to a therapist and some photographer got paid pretty good bucks to stay away.
Maybe all the people who keep saying, "they're just friends" will finally stop now? If not, then tell me how many pictures of them kissing and holding hands will it take? These two CLEARLY want to seen as a couple, with "want to be seen" as the operative words. They simply CANNOT play the "just friends" card at this point. And neither can you.
