Might have missed it

It was mini - Moonlight Mile reunion at Game 7.

Not just Jake and Dustin

But Ellen Pompeo too.

Just need Susan.

Makes you look back and revisit

Moonlight is loss and grief and love and humor and friendship and family. It captures the truth about that extremely delicate human experience — losing someone you love. It was the very personal story of writer/director Brad Silberling brought to screen about the senseless murder of his girlfriend actress Rebecca Schaeffer by a stalker.

Set in the '70s, it's the story of the aftermath of a young woman's sudden, senseless murder. Her surviving fiancé, Joe (Jake), ends up living in her house with her parents, Ben and JoJo (Dustin and Susan). Together, they struggle with her loss and attempt to move on with their lives. In the meantime, Joe, who harbors a secret about his relationship that he feels too guilty to reveal, finds himself falling for a young local woman, Bertie (Ellen).

Joe, Ben and JoJo a family formed in grief. It's real and honest, and sometimes a little messy just like life. Joe finding himself caught up in something he didn't expect, now living with them who consider him a son, grieving a different person than one he knew and them looking to him for something, their last connection to the daughter. Constantly trying to figure out what he should or shouldn't be say or do, who he is and what it all means.

Way back when in People.

Susan Sarandon digs his "dreamy eyes." Ellen Pompeo loves his lips. And his hair. "He's just delious," says his 33-year-old Moonlight Mile costar. But perhaps the best thing about hunk Jake Gyllenhaal is the fact that he blushed when praised for arranging a surprise birthday party for his driver on the set. "We just brought him a cake," he demurs. "That was all."

While shooting the romantic drama Moonlight Mile, Gyllenhaal sets hearts ablaze behind the scenes: "Everyone had crushes on him – wardrobe, makeup, everybody," his costar Aleksia Landeau tells PEOPLE. "He's not like those actors who are like, 'Look at me!' He has a poetic soul. He lets people come to him."

Hard to imagine it was just 9 years ago.

Still agree with Ebert, Jake should have gotten a Oscar nom for it.

This is so painful to watch; not only do her parents think it, Joe thinks it too. I love Susan's outspokenness too. :) One of my fave movies ever. It should have gotten much more attention than it did.

One more (and foretelling) quote from People

Previously linked with actress James King, he is now happily single, says Mile director Brad Silberling. "He gets to stay out late and not have to come home and feed the dog or the baby." Not that he'll mind when the time comes, Silberling adds: "He's a generous soul."

Danger, Alexander Skarsgård! Don't Be Like Jake!

This is a public service announcement to our vampire crush Alexander Skarsgård, who has been steaming us up on True Blood ever since we saw his first bloody wowza. But coming off the news that Skars has signed on to the new sci-fi action flick Battleship, we're kind of worried.

Here's why:

You see, Skars is a good enough actor, and he's all sorts of pretty. But we're just nervous that, should Battleship not deliver, people will write him off just as they do to other stars when their big solo action debuts don't go over so well. Know who we're thinking of?

Our darling Jake Gyllenhaal was the handsome, quasi-edgy dude-next-door for a longest time, but it was only when he started listening to the wrong people and taking the wrong roles that he got a bad rap. Remember Jarhead? Brokeback? He was great! But Prince of Persia flopped (even though Team Awful member Marc Snetiker loved it) and now Jake's got to work a little harder to get back into the public's adoring eyes.

Call it post-action-figure recovery.

Alexander Skarsgard *swoon* If Austin hadn't sold his soul to Sophia and The CW, he probably could have had a role on True Blood. HBO seemed to really like him.

Can't wait for tomorrow's episode... Anyone else watch TB?

I hate to think what Jake is going to do to get back into the public's adoring eyes.

m said...

Oh, this is one of my favorite movies too. I watched it at least a dozen times, though not in a very long time. Back around the BBM days. Jake was just perfect in it.

I said this yesterday, Jake turned his head for whatever reason and a photo was snapped. Maybe he thought he knew her. It's PR that seized upon the opportunity to try to sell Jake is straight with it. Just like the Russian dancing. The effort has the same feel.

I do wish Austin had landed a role in another HBO series. OTH was OK the first season he was on, but is pure drivel now. He needs some decent adult writing. He was good in Deadwood and Six Feet Under. He was good in JFC too, it's just the show that wasn't. They showcased his talent. OTH makes him look like a chump. I'm sure he is trying to land a good part, but has not been successful. The guy that plays the new head werewolf on True Blood(cant recall his name)said its very difficult to land parts when you are tall. He feels lucky to have landed his role, so I am sure Austin faces the same difficulty. Just one more negative to overcome.

Totally agree with everything you said M about the pictures and Austin.

He turned his head to look at the woman M.
What's wrong with Jake thinking the woman was sexy? Because he is looking at her like he wants to eat her up.
Does this make you nervous M?
It's amazing how you know his every thought.

I know I know, he's gay and would never look at another woman since he has Austin.
If he has Austin M, he's sharing him. Maybe he may want a little female action every now and then.
Austin's doing it and wants everyone to know it, why not Jake?

M, don't be so nervous. If Jake wants a litte female action sometimes, be happy for him. At least he gets to smile and show us that old Jake charm again.
Notice how Austin is always smiling now, Sophia too. Be happy for him M.

To think how young Jake was back when he did MM and how he held his own as actor up to Hoffman and Sarandon. Brad and Jake did an interview on a Cape Radio station a few years ago, about making the movie and how Brad knew Jake from summers on the Vineyard.

They filmed MM north of Boston, and love to see that those glimpses of it. Jake's performance was never forced it just seem to flow from him.

Think LaOD will bring back some of that Jake love.

Looks like Austin won't be hitting the coastal beaches on Father's Day but Monday, so maybe a little smoke and mirrors to distract and the Gyllenichols can celebrate.

Jake was back at LaMill today. (According to Tuna Toast)

Wonder if he was picking up some extra coffee for gifts or to take home for some more black coffee in bed?

Still want to see Austin pair up with Milch again. There is something about that pairing that brings out great performances in Austin.

Deluded much? Speculation doesn't make it fact.

Another reason why I love it - the first time I rented it, I had to do a double take, and sure enuff, that's the location! ;)

Think LaOD will bring back some of that Jake love.

Looking forward to it. :)

Just because Austin is bearding with Sophia does not mean he is having sex with her. They have been pals for years. The sex scenes are for OTH, not real life. And take a second look. Jake does not look like he wants to eat that gal up. If you want to see what that looks like, you need to look at the way he looks at Austin in Lakers1.

Something is rotten in Denmark, not that I didn't know it.

Okay, I was looking at Austin's twitter page, and saw that he had responded to a woman using the name hazlezuzuki. The name sounded so familiar, so I went and looked her up. I don't know if anyone else remembers, but last December around Christmas this woman posted that she saw Austin and Sophia in LA. I remember watching her twitter account for awhile because she had just opened it up, and made it sound like she was on a vacation in LA and happened to seem them. She stopped tweeting after New Year's Eve. I thought it was a plant at the time.

Now, she has claimed she "lost" her password for the past six months, and just started tweeting again on June 18. And what does she do--post a tweet to Austin about loving JFC, and of all the tweets he has gotten over the past couple of days, he just happened to answer this one.

Oh, one last thing: the tweet about seeing Sophia and Austin in LA around Christmas is gone, but all her older ones are still there.

M and M said...

^^Very interesting, Destiny. Let's face it, it's much too tempting not to use low-cost microblogging techniques to plant info on the Internet and to, more importantly, place celebrities somewhere to distract and confuse. I agree. The fact that the Christmas post is no longer posted to her account is mega suspicious. Never mind the story that she "lost" her password, but has suddenly started tweeting again and she just so happens chooses to immediately communicate with AN, who just happens to answer her tweet. Kevin Bacon would be impressed by the interlocking connections. LOL!

Keep brown nosing M&M. I used to think that was the only reason you post, but your old vag seems to get moist at the very thought of Jake being a 'power bottom' as you put it.

Austin always appeared like an intelligent, articulate young man.

Reading his twitters he sounds like a simple-minded 15 year old boy.

Someone who thinks using his mugshot for his official twitter site is original and funny.

Sophia is even worse with her "ingénue-like" behaviour.....

Perhaps Austin should spend his time looking for better TV or film roles instead of making himself looking like an idiot on the net.

Destiny, that is a good recall. Is that not the saddest thing? Almost makes me want to register so I could give a valid thumbs up for TDAT. What is up with that?

Disappointed, I am afraid I have to fully agree. I gave Austin a lot more credit. The mug shot "lookit what I did!" Selection is irresponsible and harkens back to a college boy's bragging days. I wish he would reconsider his selection. Notice he doesn't mention what the mug shot is for.

Out of respect for the hundreds of thousands who have lost someone close due to someone else who shouldn't have been driving at the time, it would be a humble gesture to use a different smirky picture.

And actually the fact that he apparently doesn't take that incident seriously enough surprises the heck out of me.

If you look at Austin's earliest tweets they are very different than the most recent ones.

It looked like he really was excited about having a place to say stuff and give an opinion. That was before Sophia started tweeting.

Look at the Gulf thing, it looked like he just wanted to give his opinion on the whole thing, and kick up some dirt and get down there. Then suddenly there was a RT about a get 50,000 followers and giving another donation. Somehow something personal got made into media opportunity. Now WHO is the person who stopped and posed for pictures when she cleaned Wilmington Beach. Hmmm?

And why are their tweets so similar? Because Sophia does not have a original thought, and she is trying to link her and Austin as a couple with everything he tweets.

For example: The World Cup thing. Come on she tweeted the tie? But a person really watching would have tweeted about the offside/foul recalled (like Austin).

Then there's band thing over night.

But the best one is. Hours after Austin's crazy tweet about streaking in Venice and backflipping off the pier

Then Sophia days later does this:
# Hey @AUS10NICHOLS was prepared to streak after the Laker game, so maybe we'll make it a double! ;) Friday, June 18, 2010 10:05:12 PM via Twitter for BlackBerry®

# If each of our followers signs the petition I will streak into the ocean!! ;) Friday, June 18, 2010 9:52:01 PM via Twitter for BlackBerry®

Now if you look at his tweets if she comments on anything has talked about, he kind of drops it, except for the Gulf thing.

She keeps using the word us over and over again too. It's like she tweeting with a rubber mallet to drill it into everyone's head.

But it looks like at the moment Austin realizes that what he really wants to say and have some fun too (remember the comment about making people laugh and be outrageous?) has been taken away and now he realizes that everything he does is something she is jumping to use.

I think that why you've seen this difference from in the past couple of days.

Austin's dad is very much alive and he and Kay still live in Austin TX.

Sophia was the one who tweeted about Rowdy's piece of racing. Austin just retweeted it. And the funny thing is she gave the wrong link in the first tweet and it was obvious that Austin didn't even click on it from her, because he didn't tweet the right link it was her the tweeted the correction on her twitter, and the Austin just RT that.

One of the more amusing aspects about the PR/Newsdesk shipping of Alpha-heterosexual Jake lately is the awkward saturation of the blogosphere that follows. Just like the “Dancing with Girls” Russian video that conveniently flooded the Net last month, these two snapshots instantaneously become a cause célèbre for no other apparent reason that to sell a straight Jake. The overreach truly boggles the mind in its ineptitude and staged silliness. First, why isn’t any other guy looking in the direction of this supposedly unbelievably eye-worthy, hot “bottom?” Why is the photo cropped to maximize the full effect of only Jake staring like a lustful fool? Why don’t we have three or four more photos to see where he is actually staring and put the fake controversy to rest? I mean if Jake truly was craning his neck to catch an eyeful, why not really prove the point beyond a shadow of a doubt by posting successive snapshots to see if the arc of his stare truly is following the woman up the stairs and not the beer vendor? And, most of all, why would this incredibly mundane event (which btw probably occurred thousands of times that night) a story at all? We all know gay guys who look at booties as well as boobies. So what? Such instinctual behavior from either sex hardly warrants stratospheric media attention. Unless, of course, you’re being paid to make sure that such an opportunity is exploited to full effect because maybe you’re desperate. Now, that I think about it, this is the second month in a row such a nonstory of superhetero Jake has not just appeared, but literally splashed across the Internet as if he parted the Red Sea. Wonder what July will bring. Maybe Jake bending down at Ammo’s to pick up his napkin and looking up a woman’s skirt? Or, maybe in honor of 4th of July, Jake sticking a red, white and blue pinwheel down the decolletage of a giggly, scantily clad woman, holding two sparkers suggestively in front of her chest? I know, maybe Jake's PR is developing a "Jake the Skank" Calendar to sell at Christmas! You know a "pose" for each month of the year.

Actually, I started this statement by using the term “amusing” but now that I think about the whole overblown storyline, the word pathetic, probably depicts the essence of the situation/saturation campaign even better. Still, I had to laugh when one of the blog comments I came across read:

“This is so funny. He could have been looking anywhere. The last pictures where he looks/leans into his guy friend, totally makes me disregard the so called checking out a woman picture.”

Evidently, you give a fuck because your MO is to change you blog name everytime you post, and pounce the moment someone says something that you're trying to bury. Your neverending "oh I'm above the fray" persona is laughable. Dare I say because of it's unrelenting, and repetitive obsessiveness.
