Ich bein ein Berliner

After a week in London which included some specs, a video shoot, snow, swans, a party and even a play Jake spent sometime with a razor in hand (maybe he did wan to be mistaken for one of the famous Berlin Brown Bears) before boarding a flight to Berlin where he is a member of the jury for Berlinale - the Berlin International Film Festival (February 9-19). The 62nd festival opens tomorrow night with the world premiere of Benoît Jacquot’s film Les adieux à la Reine.Traveling a little light for this 10 day leg of his European adventure, it looks like Jake sporting a new Patagonia black puffer, was in charge of just the essentials as he pushed his luggage out of customs before greeting fans and and Festival director Mr. Dieter Kosslick.Oh you didn't believe that I was famous when I was on the plane, but nowwww you want an autograph.
Mr Kosslick the festival director of the Berlinale since 2001 welcomed Jake as he does with every jury member with a personal bouquet. While you will be a Berliner for the next ten days Jakey, no one will ever mistake you for a jelly donut.

Jake on a Crazy Tree Wednesday? What's the connection?

While besides the long lederhosen?
It's all about the Darko, with tonight's episode title Killing Moon. It's all about Nathan vanishing tonight, and The Real Housewife of Tree Hill Haley trying to find out where he's gone. He made it to Tree Hill as she found the toy he was bringing home to Little Lydia in the street but no sight of her husband. She turns to unlikely sources for help. Everyone pitches i to help find what has happened to Nathan, while BrookeDavis battles her arch rival coffee shop nemesis (Chase's real life gf Chelsea Kane) who can dance around anything or is that just the stars? And Julian? The after effects of the Davis drama have not completely gone away.

Looks like quite a showcase of talent and film at the The 62nd Berlinale. Jake should have a lot of fun. Evidently, Berlin is the only European film festival that is open to the public:

It is really nice to see Jake getting such a reception at the airport in Berlin. It reminds you how much of a movie star he is. And you can see that he gets his energy from people, look how he brightens up with all that positive energy around him.

I agree, Special, it's great to see Jake getting such a warm and celebratory reception in Berlin. He looks as radiant as he did in Austin for the SWXSWS (sp?) film festival.

As corny as it may sound, I'm happy to see him so happy.

I noticed that Jake went to see the play, Constellations, on Monday night at the Royal Court Theatre. The play is basically about the physics of relationships and the the multiverse of parallel narratives (multiple realities). One review summed up the experience as being about the limitlessness of physics and the enclosing limitations of human existence. We all know that Jake has an attraction to these kinds of themes including the physics of time travel and the unifying connections between matter/people. But, it's also interesting that Austin tweeted about two "great" books back in January 2011, Eating the Dinosaur and The Field, which deal with very similar themes about quantum physics, string theory and general relativity, including the impact of remembering and reimaging one's life. The play opens with the different possibilities of a first encounter between two people who are (or not) destined to be together. And goes on to reveal how turns of phrases and even the tiniest inflection can change reality/destiny.

Just an observation, but this particular play seems like the kind of performance that you would go to with someone else. Perhaps a certain someone who also shares your experience of shifting realities and parallel paths and the prominent role of prospect and serendipity in one's life (the written in the stars narrative).

Jake Gyllenhaal was spotted looking handsome when arriving at the Tegel International Airport in Berlin, Germany. But what’s that we see? In his hand? Looks like a tiny yellow floral bouquet. Hmm… where could Jake have picked up such a delicate gathering of flora? Just who could have handed him such a gentle yet manly arrangement?

Looks like Julian is not the only one who is flawed. I can see the guys are getting scared again with all the talk about seeing Jake in NY with a stroller and the "Jake's daughter" at the Daycare Center tweets.

Now, Austin is pulling a Jake move by denying he has children "of his own." One can argue that Austin is stretching the English language to it's fullest elasticity. Because he doesn't have children "of his own". He has them with Jake. Last time I checked it takes two to have a baby. Shame on you Austin. I thought you were more of a big picture thinker. The cover up is always worse that the act. Your the one who is going to have to explain this away when the truth comes out eventually. Because actions have consequences. But, then you already know that don't you?

Austin has children. So does Jake. There are hundreds of clues and changes that have been made in both men's lives that support this. The clues started piling up in 2006. Both men are the one's who will have some explaining to do when the time comes.

prairiegirl said...

He took a page right out of Jake's book.

You know, why did he even have to say that at all? It wouldn't surprise me if ol' cadlymack didn't purposely ask Austin where he drew his emotions from just so that he could deny that he had kids of his own.

Keep on hiding, Austin. You could have been doing it all this time with quiet class but that quote was totally unnecessary.

Aw, it's like water off a duck's back with Austin. Why waste the breath. I hope he can look at his little kids at night without thinking how he's denied them in the press now. In print. On the record.

No conscience whatsoever.

Okay, give it about 15 seconds and watch little mister Sgt. Schultz take these comments and then go run next door and blab to all of his alternate egos how OMG'ers are pissed off.

I give it about......10 more seconds.

Jason said...

Austin, Austin, Austin. Oh, well. He must have felt pressured to make sure a statement. But, those kids are the ones who will have to suffer the consequences of their Daddies denial of their existence.

It's there lives, but I hate to see what the closet does to people. Making men who should be proud of their own children lie about it, is despicable.

Ellen DeGeneres has fired back at a website called OneMillionMoms.com, an affiliate of the American Family Association, for urging its followers to boycott JC Penney after the department store hired the New Orleans-born comedian and talk show host as it new national spokeswoman.

DeGeneres thanks JC Penney, supporters, for standing by her after an organization affiliated with the American Family Association called for a boycott of the store over its decision to hire the comedian as its spokeswoman.

“Normally, I try not to pay attention to my haters, but this time my haters are my motivators,” DeGeneres says during the opening monologue of her Wednesday show. “This organization doesn’t think that I should be the spokesperson because I’m gay. To those of you just tuning in for the first time, it’s true, I’m gay, I hope you were sitting down.

“So they wanted to get me fired, but I am proud and happy to say that J.C. Penney stuck by their decision to make me their spokesperson,” she said.

Keeping the mood light, DeGeneres jokes, “It’s great news for me, because I need some new crew socks. I’m really going to clean up with this (employee) discount.”

In her corner, DeGeneres had GLAAD, the gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender media advocacy and anti-defamation organization, which started a petition asking supporters to thank JC Penney for sticking with its decision to hire her.

“So after J.C. Penney didn’t back down, I thought the story would be over, it’s gonna go away … and it did not go away.”

DeGeneres pointed to a television screen on which the One Million Moms Facebook page was displayed and read the group’s message to its 40,000 followers, which says the store is “jumping on the pro-gay bandwagon” and by doing so “the majority of JC Penney shoppers will be offended and choose to no longer shop there.”

“I usually don’t talk about stuff like this on my show,” DeGeneres, who is married to actress Portia de Rossi, says. “But I really want to thank everyone who is supporting me, and if you don’t know me very well — if you’re just watching for the first time or just getting to know me — I want to be clear. And here are the values that I stand for: I stand for honesty, equality, kindness, compassion, treating people the way you want to be treated and helping those in need. For me, those are traditional values. That’s what I stand for.”

Is that UV with the Occam's Razor suggestion? Which for those who don't know means: the explanation that makes the fewest new assumptions usually provides the correct one, and that the simplest explanation will be the most plausible until evidence is presented to prove it false.

Unfortunately, appearance is not necessarily reality. And, humans are complex, devious, fearful, devoted, greedy, self loathing, passionate, overwhelmed, and all around perplexing. They do not function on a logical playing field and are motivated at different times by different forces, different needs and desires. There is plenty of evidence out there to support Jake and Austin's parenthood. An explanatory model (PR cover up), however, has been meticulously created to intentionally make the idea of them having a family inordinately complicated. But, truly the whole thing is actually very simple for those who have been paying attention.

Simple truth: People lie. Particularly, scared closeted actors who have been convinced that they won't get their next gig, if the truth of their family union is made public.

destiny said...

that video of Ellen is great.

Big eye roll over Austin's interview. You know, it just doesn't quite flow right to throw in that I don't have kids bit.

On the other hand, there are days when I think it is really just Jake involved in bringing up BT.

And what can I say that I haven't said a million times over the years about hiding a kid. Whatever criticisms people want to fling at Matt Bomer for not coming completely out, at least he does right by his kids.

Special K said...

Something you might not know about the interview with Zap2it is who the reporter is, Carina McKenzie, or by her twitter name @cadlymack.

McKenzie is a a fan of OTH who not only writes about the show, but is close friends with Sophia. Not only to they both tweet each other, but when McKenzie went to interview the cast before she and Sophia went out for the evening together and have gotten manicures together. Nothing to do with interviews just hanging out.

That doesn't reek of journalistic objectivity.

Therefore there needs to be full disclosure.

^^ Come Now! Maybe, Just maybe he's telling the truth

And, maybe he's not. And, Austin did not say he didn't have any children. He said that he doesn't have children of his own. Jake did the same thing in an interview back in 2010. The question I have is why the interviews, needed to cover this ground at all? In other words, why does Austin have to state what is supposed to be obvious to everyone?

Notice how he brings up his sister's children just like Jake did in his interview? They hide behind their families to cover up their own role as fathers. In fact, they use everyone they can to stay in the closet. Austin looks far too comfortable with babies to just be a casual uncle. That was the dangerous thing about that story line. Now, Austin has to try to cover up what his "motivaation" was as an actor. Where did he draw his inspiration from? The fans reacted emotionally because, for once, Austin seemed so authentic. That kind of emotion comes from a real place.

No matter how much I may want this to be true, I don't believe it.

Believe what you want. And, ignore what's been going on for years and years. There's plenty of evidence out there if you have an open mind, that Jake and Austin are gay (which they both have lied about), that they are no longer together (which they both have lied about) and that they have no children (which they both have now lied about). It has nothing to do with respect. They say the family that prayers together stays together, but actually it's the family that lies together that stays together. Alibis, cover ups, convenient hideouts (NY), corrobating evidence to explain away a slip up, etc.

Hey, if you don't think Jake and Austin are an A-1 liars you've forgotten all about Gyllenspoon, Sophin, and all the lies spun around those "relationships" as well as Maggie using her little girl in that fake Thanksgiving photo-op. Oh, yeah and what about that October 8 Yom Kippur stunt? Maggie's not even pregnant in that picture yet we were sold the idea that the whole family was out in NY to observe the religious holiday. The whole family is nothing but liars.

prairiegirl said...

And by the way, this has been a really good day and continues to be a good day. Lies uttered by Mr.Freeze, aka Austin Nichols, are on him, not affecting how I'm going to sleep tonight at all.

You know what I love is how when we get onto this topic, everyone suddenly signs out of Blogger and forgets their password.

There is no need to hide. There's nothing to be ashamed or embarrassed about. Unless, of course you're UV. There's not going to be a guillotine hacking for not believing in BTs.

Boy, one interview from Austin to an obscure journalist and how quickly things change back, don't they?

Have you even watched Austin on OTH? Sorry, but he's never been this convincing. Not even close. He's not that good of an actor. Sorry Austin.

By the way, that's the same stupid argument Adam Levine gave for why we all need to stop thinking that Jake is gay. Remember folks, Brokeback Mountain was just a movie! Yeah right.

Methodical Muser said...

Special K said...

Interesting you would use DeNiro as an example, since he is one of the most well known for The Method approach to acting.

"Using the Method, the actor also recalls emotions or reactions from his or her own life and uses them to identify with the character being portrayed."

Now what would Austin use to be so convincing a a dad on TV? Because if you watch him (an not just the screencaps) this season with the twins on the show, you would see the way he is is interacting with them is so instinctual, you can tell he is using his own life to identify with the character.

Jason said...

I have to agree, Special. Austin looks way to natural with those babies. In comparison, Sophia looks awkward and her performance forced. That comes from being self-conscious. It's like when you see people around dogs, you can tell in an instant who has a lot of experience with the canine world and those who maybe know people who have pets. It's like night and day in terms of comfort level.

You know, someone is going to have to come up for a reason why Austin and Sophia "broke-up." I'll guess that it's because Austin wants to have a family and Sophia isn't ready for one yet. Maybe that's why the subject was brought up?

prairiegirl said...

I know everyone loves Robert DeNiro for all of his serious roles but I love him in the Focker movies.

LOLLLLLLL!!! Oh my gosh, when Dustin Hoffman upends him during that game of touch football in Meet the Fockers, that was one of the funniest scenes in that movie. Just hilarious. DeNiro was perfect in that role.

Special K said...

I have watched OTH since Austin startedthe show, and this is the first season where he is consistently the most convincing as a real person and not the caricuture that OTH created.

He is convincing as a dad in those small little unscripted moments, those that are in the moment, with the babies, even when in the background.

Looking at Sophia handling those boys you can tell she hasn't had a lot of experience holding babies. She jostles them back and forth from one arm to the other if she has to hold them too long. I think that is why they have kids in Snuglis, car seats, high chairs or strollers if there is a scene longer than than a couple of minutes with her.

And Sophia has said in a recent interview how she does want kids because of how much work they were on the show.

I also found it interesting that the first episode Austin ever directed was filled with babies.

Who would give someone who has limited experience with babies an episode filled with them to direct? Because remember the old adage never work with kids or animals.

prairiegirl said...

You know, someone is going to have to come up for a reason why Austin and Sophia "broke-up."

Might be cooking on the stove as we speak, do you reckon? I mean, they need to turn that burner up on High because with Sophia being Austin-less two times this past weekend, including PrimeTime Date Night on Saturday, it's more than obvious that Sophin is as dead as last Thanksgiving's turkey.

Excellent point. I had not thought of that. Why didn't they give that story to Sophia which would have made more traditional (stereotypical) sense. Or, have an experienced director take on those challenges. Directing children is very difficult.

ethical dilemma said...

I use to think that bearding and having fake, "loveless" families was far worse than what Jake and Austin were doing with fake girlfriends. I use to rationalize their lies by saying, "At least, their love is real."

But, this kind of stuff is beyond the pale, i.e. beyond the standards/scope of human decency. What would this world be like if everyone just lied about important questions like who their spouse was, or if they have children? Jake and Austin do not get a pass from me. This is wrong.

ethical dilemma said...

^The other point I want to make is these two are hurting the gay movement. Their actions or inactions are playing into America's homophobia. If affluent movie and television stars don't want to come out, they are almost essentially saying that gays need/should hide away from the real world. Wouldn't want to disturb good decent Americans with messy things like two gay men loving each other or wanting to raise a family together.

Just May Be said...

Simple truth: People lie. Particularly, scared closeted actors who have been convinced that they won't get their next gig, if the truth of their family union is made public.

The plain fact may be that Jake and Austin are cowards when it comes to interacting with the real world. Not their self-involved little universe of pampered and preppy hipsters. But, alongside everyday Americans, hard working, decent folk who try to live as honest of a life as possible.

prairiegirl said...

I'd rather see the guys deny each other than deny their children.
Their oldest is 4 years old now. He's walking, talking, going to pre-school most likely. Interacting with other children. He has four grandparents, multiple cousins, and siblings.

He has favorite foods now. I'm sure music fills their house. Probably has favorite television characters. Favorite toys. Cries. Laughs.

And looks to Austin & Jake with unconditional love and trust.

To say this child does not exist is to say to the world he was never born.

Was it any easier to do the interview over the phone or by internet than it might have been to do it in person?

prairiegirl said...

Hopefully, such a denial will never, ever come from either one again.

The one thing to remember is when/if these two men plan on eventually coming out, Jake's quote and now Austin's quote denying that they have children will be requoted back to them. It will.

And they will have to answer it.

......Washington state lawmakers pass gay marriage bill

...OLYMPIA, Wash. (AP) — Washington state lawmakers voted to approve gay marriage Wednesday, setting the stage for the state to become the seventh in the nation to allow same-sex couples to wed.

The action comes a day after a federal appeals court declared California's ban on gay marriage unconstitutional, saying it was a violation of the civil rights of gay and lesbian couples.

The Washington House passed the bill on a 55-43 vote. Supporters in the public viewing galleries stood and cheered as many on the Democratic side of the House floor hugged after the vote.

The state Senate approved the measure last week, and the bill now goes to Democratic Gov. Chris Gregoire, who is expected to sign it into law next week.

Gregoire issued a statement after the vote, saying it was "a major step toward completing a long and important journey to end discrimination based on sexual orientation

This is very good news.

And I'm sorry but it is imperative this be realized.

When and If these 2 come out, don't tell me they won't do at least one big interview, be it Matt Lauer, Oprah, whoever. Whoever.

There will be a Big Interview. And these denials will be put to them. And they will be asked, "How could you say that? How did you feel when you said that?"

And they're going to have to answer the question. And by that time, their kids will be in grade school, whether it's a private or public school.

And Jake & Austin will have to probably see their children crying because classmates are going to be asking questions, perhaps taunting, etc.

It's not a game, fellas. This is not a little game. These are children, children who have a lot more years ahead than you do.

Please give them all your consideration and quit thinking of yourselves.

People, Actors ACT. That's their job. Some actors pull from experiences at times and then, some have to act based on the director directing the scene, or their training as an actor. There have been many actors who don't have babies / children who can give a rave performance acting the role of a parent. OK

This idea just because Austin convinced you of great chemistry with the baby in OTH is NOT a good example of him having real children. Sorry, it's not. He is an actor.

Well look at that. Where's Austin? I thought he was supposed to be in LA?

I think said...

if Austin is Jake's friend , he doesn't go to the Reese movie's premier , it would be indeed of bad taste

Thanks for all the updates from Berlin.

That is just lowdown for a US journalist to pull that when Jake is a juror. What a direct hit. I feel so bad for Jake, no one deserves that, what a way to rattle someone's confidence.

I noticed the Grampy sweater too. Something warm and cozy to get down to the business of watching all those film in competition.

They haven't gone to events together in ages. Just because Austin is in L.A. doesn't mean he has to attend.

Besides, I would think he would be at home with the kids during this down time.

Movie Premiere.

Out of work.

Girlfriend alone.

Sounds like a formula for being an escort to me.

Here's a question pointing out an obvious.

What I would like to ask cadleymack is why she didn't have a question to Austin about Sophia? In the past, since the birth of Sophin, Sophia has had several opportunities on TV and in magazines to share her status on the relationship with her "boyfriend".

Now here's a prime opportunity with a rare interview with Austin and she doesn't take it? Here was the big opportunity to get some scoop. To satisfy all of those tweeting questions about what's going on with the fave couple.

Not only that, it was the perfect lead in to ask after the discussion about Austin being an uncle and obsessed with the "children in his life". Does he look forward to having children? After all, he is 31 now. Does he see himself as getting married soon?

But she didn't do it, did she?

Why?

Wow! He hasn't looked this great for a while. Keep it up Jake.

Agree. Even if Jake or CAA had previously burned this reporter in some way (which, given Jake's antics over the past five years is certainly possible), there is no excuse for this kind of "lie in wait" behavior. It's classless and unprofessional.

I think it’s wonderful that Jake has the opportunity to be a jury at such a prestigious international film festival. It’s the first time in years that he is in an environment that will challenge him. For years and years the only professional requirement for him was to look hot in pictures on US weekly/gossip sites, to be cute or funny in talk shows, or to say some scripted/staged PR approved crap in interviews. This is a job where all of these things don’t work. He needs to show intelligence, substance and to have a real opinion. I hope it’s a step to a new direction that will give him career longevity. I believe he has a great potential and it’s been wasted for years on being a PR puppet to make him a star and he lost credibility. I think this is why the US journalist asked that (awful) question. Jake was a bit out of place at the press conference. I hope he raises up to the challenge during the festival and shows what he has to give. Mike Leigh was brilliant in every one of his replies.

Jake especially shines when Austin is around. I am a firm believer now in this; have seen it for myself.

Destiny, Destiny Destiny - head on over to ONTD. They posted a video of Matt Bomer doing a photo shoot for Italian GQ. He's being Elvis throughout, though it comes off more Chris Isaak to me than Elvis. And he sings at the end. Really cute.

I cant believe how rude that reporter was. He/she should be tossed out for that question. I do wonder myself why Jake is involved in this, but his film work holds its own. Its just not an obvious move for Jake at this stage in his life or based on his interests.

POV said...

About Jake and Austin denying they have kids, I think for them it’s easy to lie because they see interviews as performances. I am sure in their heads, the actor’s ‘persona’ they put out there (interviews, pics, etc) is not the real them but the same as a performance on screen. In their heads, a pic with a beard holding hands is the same as a performance on tv or in a movie. They must have two totally separate compartments: the real them and the fictional them. They will explain that argument to their kids. When their kids read/see the magazines/pics/interviews (with beards, no kids), it’s the same as seeing daddy kiss an actress on screen= fiction. If some day they come out, they’ll spin the denying they had kids as ‘protecting’ them from the paps/media to give them a normal life away from tabloids and I believe the general public will buy it and even applaud it (twisted I know, but for example they did exactly that with Sandra Bullock when she hid Louise for months to 'protect' him from the paps/media). Think that the general public believe actors are ‘hunted’ by paps. They don’t know about how PR works and staging photo ops. This is what I think they think, not my personal opinion about if it’s right or wrong to hide a kid. I am just trying to see them from their POV.

I agree that Jake is beautiful, both inside and out. Frankly, I think that is what makes him so ensnaring, seductive, intriguing...or, whatever adjective one wants to use. But, it's the people in your life, the ones you hold dearest, who share your triumphs and experiences that bring out that beauty, particularly for someone like Jake who is as transparent as a clear water spring.

Back in June, 2007 he was interviewed by a German newspaper (Welt Online). The article was about how Jake is still learning when it comes to love. He discusses a conversation he had with his father, where he was reminded that he needed to make a home. His father said:

“Trust your feelings. Make 'the movies that you like, personally.’ Find out what interests you and don’t be so afraid. Go out into the world and do what you feel is right. After that, come back home. Because the bottom line is that you’ve got to have a home. Work is important, but it’s not everything in life.” That conversation freed me because I suddenly knew that it was okay to make mistakes. Then the next thing that shot through my head was: “Damn, you don’t have a real home!”

When the interviewer goes on to ask if he changed anything in his life, Jake goes on to say, (in a rare glimpse of candor) "Yes, I’ve already made changes. Besides the success that I have had, I've invested a lot of time in making a home."

Somehow, I don't think Jake was talking about Reese Witherspoon.

What? said...

^^^ That assumtion makes Jake and Austin worst parents. You can't make excuses for them. But that's what you are doing. No parents deny their children exist unless they are unfit and pathilogical lyers.
In that case, they don't need to have children.
So why bother going through the trouble of having them? Actors, celebs or Not.

I don't think Jake and Austin would do this. Most Sane people/parents wouldn't.

I don't believe these guys have kids together because they are all over the place, separate days and months on end. Not a wink from (anyone) saying they are parents except from Ted ((hidden)) in blind Items. Nobody else. And, because they have said "they don't have any children". It's that simple.

What? again said...

and, You would believe them if they Said they have children.

Wouldn't you?

Why not believe them now?

It's one thing to say they are partners, maybe married, but you can't hide children. Maybe one, but cetainly not two or more

lastly said...

and whoever hides and deny their children existance needs to be put in Jail or the children should be taken away from them by the authorities.

Methodical Muser said...

That's a well thought out argument, POV. I have to say, I use to posit that perspective myself. And, I think that's how they rationalize what they are doing. For the most part, I understand Jake's desire to make movies and live a private life. He said once last year:

“I act,’’ Gyllenhaal says. “That’s what I love to do. But I don’t want to live my life in public. Why can’t I just make great movies?’’

Where I draw the distinction is when the guys actively lie about their personal lives. If Jake wants to be private, then he needs to shut up about his personal life. He contradicts himself when he beards and creates this fantasy existence. What is particularly hard to take is when Jake goes on and on about Ramona, or Austin tries to tell us how his nieces and nephew tremendously changed his life. In other words, demonstrating no problem acknowledging their sister's kids, but refusing to man up and acknowledge their own. As someone suggested in this thread, I believe, there is a homophobic aspect to it. Because when push comes to shove, it's not about Jake's privacy, it's about his desire not to let people know that he's gay and in a committed relationship. If he were heterosexual, I seriously doubt he would be lying about having a wife and children.

prairiegirl said...

Jake and Austin are hiding their children.

prairiegirl said...

I could see that, POV. Like you said, it doesn't make it right, but it could be a part of the confounded perplexity of this whole thing.

prairiegirl said...

and, You would believe them if they Said they have children.

Wouldn't you?

Why not believe them now?

These two guys have lied before. They've lied to insinuate they are straight. People laugh at that, not hesitating to say "Oh, but they're gay. Way to go, Jake (Austin), no one is believing that crap."

Well, as horrendous as it seems, the same thing is being done with their kids.

It would be interesting to see how similar Austin's statement of denial sounds to Jake's, the entire statement.

Methodical Muser said...

It's one thing to say they are partners, maybe married, but you can't hide children. Maybe one, but cetainly not two or more

Sure you can. All you need is enough money, the loyal help of family and friends, paying off paps when you make a mistake, coordinated plane travel, homes in various locales, nannies and other facilitators who sign confidentiality agreements, manufactured stories, an entire Hollywood apparatus set up to cover you ass 24/7, etc.

Like anything else, once the structure is set up, who cares if there are 2 or 4 children? Infants might stay behind with extended family sometimes, the older children may be split between more fathers, it goes on and on. Where there's a will, there's a way to accomplish anything. And, Jake has a very strong will. Some might call him irrationally stubborn and inherently predisposed for mass deception. Definitely, a risk-taker who likes to skirt the edge. Being clever can sometimes make you think that the rules simply don't apply to you.

Methodical Muser said...

^"between both fathers"

We disagree said...

M&M, what you just described is an insane and troubled person or people. I don't care if they are some big star, celeb., or Royalty, it's the same, people who don't need to have children. This is very simple, there is nothing complicated about this issue.
No excuses from me.

I ask you, If you want children and to be proud parents of children, why would you do this?
Why bother with having children if the purpose right from the start is to hide/deny them.

The best thing for J/A to do was to either come out and admit it "if they do have children", and possibly leave the business of acting behind.

There are consequenses to those actions and surely they knew or Know of this. So if you gonna take such a major Major step, you need to own up to it.

They have not and their interest is in acting, not parenting. So my assessment is, they are not fathers as they have stated.

Methodical Muser said...

There's a reason they call it Hollyweird.

I believe Jake planned to come out in 2005. That was one of the reasons, Jake wanted to do Brokeback Mountain. He intended to use that movie as a vehicle to live a more open life. Ironically, the film became bigger than the sum of its parts. And, actually ended up pushing him further into the closet. He said in an interview in 2005 when discussing Brokeback that "it was kind of a rough time in my life, and it [his life] mimicked a lot of things in the movie that were going on. I was just exhausted emotionally from it.":

Then this article appeared from September, 2005:

Now that Jake Gyllenhaal has made a movie in which he falls for Heath Ledger, he's ready to come out of the closet.
No, not that closet.
Gyllenhaal is talking about the idea that everyone — gay, straight or Andy Dick — reaches a point in life when he must come to grips with who he is and then get ready to reveal himself to the rest of the world….

"I'm at a period in my life when I'm figuring out my idea of who I am and what I want and how to hold onto love – all that big stuff," says Gyllenhaal."

However, with Jake's newfound fame, Evelyn and the 10 percent crowd at CAA convinced Jake that if he came out his career would be over. Even more disturbing to Jake was I bet these bottom feeders also indicated that the industry would go after Austin too (blackball him).

In general, I believe that Jake was in love and wanted to have a family by 2006. Like many people he convinced himself he could have both. We forget sometimes that he was only 24 going on 25. Once Jake signed his soul over to Hollywood, it became more and more difficult/complicated to extricate himself from the situation. He loves kids and probably decided to just continue having them since there was nothing he could do to change the situation he found himself in. Just my opinion.
