Stepping up

Jake donated and signed a pair of his pair of Polo Ralph Lauren shoes to be auctioned off as part of the second annual Heel Hate event benefit for the Matthew Shepard Foundation

Jake signed both with the simple saying "One Love."

And Jake's shoes size? 10.5   (one thing he can't share with 'Squatchi)

(This appears to be the first time Jake has publicly been associated with the Matthew Shepard Foundation)

Jake's One Love signature is kind of a reminder of Austin's tweet back in November 2012 of Macklemore and Ryan Lewis' Same Love video.  (Austin tweeted it just a month came out - and before it really became the mainstream mega hit it became in 2013)

Want to help the foundation?  You can bid on Jake shoes or check out the others helping to Heel Hate

"The Matthew Shepard Foundation was founded by Dennis and Judy Shepard in memory of their 21-year old son, Matthew, who was murdered in an anti-gay hate crime in Wyoming in October 1998. Created to honor Matthew in a manner that was appropriate to his dreams, beliefs, and aspirations, the Foundation seeks to “Replace Hate with Understanding, Compassion, & Acceptance” through its varied educational, outreach and, advocacy programs and by continuing to tell Matthew’s story."

Beautiful gesture on Jake's part. Beautiful message by Jake. I have to say I was surprised to see this on Facebook but no less touched and it still humbles me this morning.

Gorgeous shoes too, btw. Very, very nice post, Special.

God bless Matthew Shepherd's soul, what a terrible, tragic story.

It is beautiful.

And isn't it the first time Jake has done something for a gay rights organization?

I think it is Destiny.

I like to think the it is a step (a small one maybe, but a step) and I think of the foundation was the first step for Jason Collins. (Fingers crossed)

Destiny, have you seen the picture on Just Jared of a scene from Mark Ruffalo and Matt Bomer's new movie?

Wow, how romantic it is. Just a great picture of their kiss, I love it.

I would link it but I'm at work and you never know what is going to pop up on that JJ page, lol. I think it was on JJ on Sunday. I would love to see it but I bet Matt dies in the movie. I can't take that sad of a movie.

Great gesture on Jake's part. Not sure he would have did this a year or so ago. This and Austin flashing that wedding band recently are good signs but my hopes are not high. Too much work has been put into Jake being str8 to the public.

Wow a movie with Mark Ruffalo and Matt Bomer kissing. I want to see that one for sure.

Wow just saw the trailer for "Normal Heart". Would love to see some Emmys for that one. HBO is awesome. I doubt a screen studio would take a chance on this one.

I have seen the pictures from TNH, beautiful. I really like Mark Ruffalo too.

But there's also some really sad ones of Matt after he gets sick (and after he lost weight for the role). Lots of good people in this movie, so I can't wait to see it.

You're right Tom about HBO, they tried to get a theatrical movie deal and couldn't find anyone willing to take a chance on the project. Not to mention the rights to this movie have been kicking around for decades without anything being made--Barbra Streisand owned the rights for a long time.

Maybe when Jake first took on BBM it was a brave act, but by the end of it all he was running as far away from the gay as his legs could take him, including not showing up to be honored by GLAAD for his work. I think that plus 8 years of silence on the subject negates any good will he got from doing BBM.

Go on just Jared NOW!

That's whole lot of Nakey Jakey!

Jake goes butt naked on set of Everest

Those pictures are sure something. Interesting that they "leaked" those particular photos. It's generating a ton of publicity, but kind of surprised it wasn't saved for around the time the movie is released.

Just Jared has deleted their post. I bet they're not going to be around much longer, people.

They are still on the Daily Mail unedited.

Pics were removed from the majority of sites, Jake got very pissed I guess

Special K said...

Well I can see Jake not wanting to have those pictures out there because of his kids.

Ouch! said...

It seems the pics have been stolen from the closed set

Special K said...

Hey Ouch - thanks for that info. How'd you hear about that?

10.5 huh? That's my husbands shoe size. If the cost is not too far off the chart, I may bid on them for the fun of it. I'll have to check out the website.

Not sure why Jake would get upset about those pics. We saw his butt in Jarhead and in Love and Other Drugs, so it's not like we are seeing it for the first time. Anyone with Netflix or the DVD, or even HBO or Showtime can see it when they want. The tape in the front is not too flattering though. Maybe that is not what he likes.

I am looking forward to The Normal Heart. Sounds really good. Is anyone watching Looking? It took a bit to get into it, but now I am hooked. And Jonathan Groff is an absolute doll. One reviewer said he has chemistry with everyone and that is absolutely true.

The aftermath of what happened late yesterday is lying everywhere like debris.

It will take days, maybe weeks to see what that was all about.

Great to see that we drive the paid troll nuts.

We've been watching Looking M. It was a bit slow rolling out, but we're both hooked on it now. I think it's really good, and not like anything I've seen before. The last episode has also been a topic of debate for us and our friends.

Have you been watching it Tom? If not you really need to see it.
