Not exactly the fame that the public imagines in their Hollywood dreams. That fame is the smiley happy red carpet fame with adoring fans screaming your name. Parties, premieres, all things shiny and bright.
Some will say that he bought into it and he gets what comes with it. Some will say that he doesn't deserve this. And others say this is a part of the game.
But a good bet is, all will agree this is not the picture of Jake they want to see again.

That's why this feels like the "same old" ECF. This happened last year. The rumors heat up and Austin disappeared for months. Last year Jake was supposed to be with Natalie Portman. Austin reappears when it all seems calmer. This time there is PDA. Will Austin reappear? Why can't Jake be pictured with Austin if the rumors are bs? Stay tuned in to As the Toothy Turns.
Wouldn't it (the paps etc) be even worse for Jake and Austin if they ever became a public couple?

I'm a little late, but I wanted to thank our Spanish translator for the new "Informers" info. I'm very curious about Austin's role in the movie.
Not sure why Jake and Reese look so surprised and upset - seems strange now that they've made their "relationship" public. You'd think they'd be expecting this while the relationship is still new news.
They both seem startled, like they were ambushed. I bet the paps jumped out of wherever as they were pulling away from either her place or his parents. I don't think it's an act, it would explain why he is looking at the rear view mirror on the paaenger side. Shame on you for making light of something as serious just because you don't like what's going on. They both could easily be in an accident.

This is definately not the kind of picture I want to see of any celebrity. Just comparing this one picture with the ones of J&A below make me wonder: is it (whatever it is) really worth all this pain and suffering?

what's an awful picture. maybe their people forget to inform them that paps will be there. in any case, people flashing light in front of your car while you're driving is really disturbing.

I have always wanted Jake to remain ambiguous, cos I don't really fancy J&A become a public couple... most celeb's long-term relationships were all kept in extremely low-profile.
In any case, whoever Jake is with, I do hope this charade has somehow help to keep it private and safe for them.
Such a disturbing photo. Once again I have to ask how all those fangurls who want him to be straight can look at these photos and not see how miserable he is.
And I don't think it would be worse for J&A if they came out (or at least not after the initial hoopla). Once all the "he's gay" stories run I can't see People, etc. wanting to run pictures of them every week. With very few exceptions (Brangelina) couples who just go about their lives are not hounded this way.
Right now the paps are out for blood because they know this is staged, and that with pr working overtime there are more opportunities to sell the photos. They are also being tipped off by pr. They are probably also hunting for photos of J&A, and for all we know they've gotten some and can make more money selling them to pr.
It looks like they were parked in a driveway, it doesn't look like the car was in motion. Which means they either somehow got onto Reese's private residance, which I doubt or the paps parked in an area where they were able to see Jake drive up to her place, leave with her and then followed them to his parents. I don't think his parents live in a gated community and from the brief look at the pics it appears that there is some type of shrubbery around the car. So they may have tresppased on private property.

I do not condone the paps at all when it comes to their behavior with Jake or with any other celeb. Problem is that the stars and their PR teams use the paps to get publicity. The more popular a person gets the more the paps want a photo. It's a vicious and endless cycle.

does anybody know what happened with Jake's plan about own restaurant with Chris and M. Battali?
Almost year ago with this and trying to get on Broadway stage it looked like he is diverting from HW glamor and heading for options which could give him more private and free life he wanted. Somehow in some point everything has spun right to opposite direction back to glamor in big style with public romance with noone less than AM sweetheart and Hw second lady.

I am back to the point where I need some form of validation from Ted, I just cannot go on buying is word no question asked, I hardly trust pictures, unsubstantiated statements even less.
As for Nailed. It is supposed to be a comedy, so I don't really understand all the harsh judgement.

Let's take a step back. Reese says she has known Jake for years, and they shared no scenes or location time during the making of Rendition. What suddenly prompted them to fall in love *with each other*? I can only think it was a piece of paper signed by both in Evelyn O'Neil's office.
This picture is alarming, though I hope it's because of the effect of flashguns on Jake's huge eyes rather than for any bad reason.
First there is the Rome PDA that I don’t need to say how obvious it was. Then the airport pictures kissing, snapped with a camera phone to make it look ‘casual’. Then there are the beach video in a ‘romantic’ location and going together to the Halloween party, both times casually caught by paps. Then the series “angry with the paparazzi” started: Jake smacking a camera, Reese angry in the Halloween pics with the kids and now this picture.
I think they are trying a ‘naturalistic’ approach to a traditional showmance to give it realism, using media coverage and tabloids plants to their advantages.
I think we are too emotional involved with Jake and we can’t be objective, but if we analyse the sequence and timing it is quite obvious it is a fauxmance. Ted outed Jake and the movie flopped and then suddenly after almost a year of hiding, this high profile, over the top, in your face romance started! It can't be just coincidence.
It looks to me like Jake was stopped (at a stop sign/light or just at the side of the road) and leaning over to get something out of the glove compartment, or changing a CD. And then Reese gets all dramatic and has to cover her face. Poor baby. *rolls eyes* Maybe she's thinking she'll get an Oscar for her performance.
I think fauxmance 101 and showmance 101 both have very good points. Looking at that old 2005/2006 Critics Choice picture of the two of them standing together, I wonder if that's when the wheels started turning.
And even if it is a real romance, I keep going back to the question of why Jake looks so miserable? Couples look dead and lifeless after a being together for many years, not in the first throes of blooming romance. Hey that's a thought, maybe Jake and Reese have really been secretly married to each other for 20 years. Who knew?!
Oh, and it's odd how Jake retreats from Reese as she gets "upset" -- he's not looking at her at all. And he sure isn't facing forward as though he's trying to drive away, either.

I can see Jake doing well doing satire. Now being able to handle David O. Russell that's another thing. After having heard the stories of Russell and George Clooney getting into fistfights on the set of Three Kings, I don't know how Jake will do with the bullying Russell.

I don't think you can tell anything about Jake and Reese's relationship from this - IMO it's a reaction to the paps. He didn't look happy when he got caught that night he went out to dinner with Peter either.
I take what I've seen in the Rome pictures as a indicator of Reese: if it's real it'll never last cos he looks 10 times happier with Austin. If it's fake he should stop it soon before things get worse, or he gets outed.

Good points Shomance 101. I do think it is staged, but that Jake is unwilling and/or unable to throw 100% of himself into the role, and I don't think that that this or many of the other expressions on his face of late have been staged.

Maria, Marilyn Monroe was a PRODUCT of the studios and look what happened to her. Huh, maybe Jake needs to take note.
One thing that bothers me is that not only has Jake not been seen with his friends (Austin, Chris) but he hasn't been seen with his Dad. They were always photographed going for coffee, playing with the dogs at the dog park, etc. Maybe he's just busy with his Reeke performance, but still. You'd think he'd find time to go to the dog park, grab lunch with his Dad, like he used to. Normal things. Makes me wonder if Mom and Pop aren't exactly behind this Jeeke-off of a fauxmance scam 100%. :(

In august Ted said Toothy had been in talks with major magazines about coming out and we didn`t hear any movie news. Just speculations about Broadway. As someone else here mentioned before me(or something similar), he is doing the complete opposite!
Seems like he`s completley panicked. I wonder if some people came up with so much reasons for not coming out, he got terrified and-goodbye to Broadway(at least for now), goodbye to coming out-hello to bearding and hello to declearing myself as straight.
The tragic part is that he doesn`t seem to be happy these days:(

Maybe Jake and Austin had a fall out and Jake and Reese are helping each other go through a difficult time. Last year when we thought during the summer Jake and Austin were split Jake hang out a lot with Mance, remember?
I'm not sure what to say about everything that's going on, I'm totally confused, maybe I'm not supposed to know. All I know is that Jake doesn't appear happy. I hope he won't have to sacrifice his personal happiness for career success, but I guess life does require choice and sacrifice. Somehow this song seems appropriate. netb.. I'm with you, its just so strange, weird behaviour, that its difficult to know what to believe. What's sad is that at the moment its like watching a wounded animal but being unable to help (I'm sort of thinking some kind of bambi scenario so forgive me). Fr some really weird reason I feel sorry for everyone involved and am half thinking it would be good if Jake and Reese were really together because then this might actually be worth it.

Has anyone figured out if the car Jake and Reesewere driving in was parked or moving? I have no clue what the heck is going on with these two. One minute Reese is happy as a lark with her kids on the beach and the next she is hiding her face when the paps are taking her picture with Jake.
She certainly is the dramatic one.
If the car was moving maybe Jake was trying to merge into another lane or in the process of pulling out in traffic and was really concentrating on being safe. Also if the car was moving maybe Reese was afraid they were going get into an accident and closed her eyes.
If that is not the explanation then I feel sorry for these two people they are really stressed out and unhappy or like someone said putting on a show and trying to act like they are so upset about being papped.

Zero, I'd be inclined to agree with you about demanding answers from Ted if he were the only source of my thinking that Jeese is fake and that J&A are a couple. But other folks have called out Jeese- dlisted, NY Daily News, InTouch, Perez, heck, even Lainey says this is over-the-top and suspicious.
And there have been sightings of J&A at both Defamer and Gawker, plus the one posted by Lyle at the DC Forum that included PDA. Ent Lawyer has named them as a couple. And of course the pics of them that we all have seen. Even if Ted never said anything about Jake or Jeese again, I think other people would.

I'd love for Jake to be with Austin but I won't believe it until I see actual proof, such as them coming out or pics of them together including PDA (both extremely unlikely to happen, I know). Having said that, I'd be happy to accept Jake is with Reese if the pics of them so far didn't look staged and Jake didn't look so unhappy. Well, as much as everyone makes fun of my rose colored glasses, I really don't care.
Jake with Resse -- go on and try and sell it but I'm not buying it. How can you, how can you say they are together. Stop and look at Jake, I mean really look at that face. The corners of his mouth, his eyes, his posture, his whole body tells you, this is not the person I want to be with.
Then look at Jake not with Austin but anyone else. He's posture different, the body language is different, the corner of his mouth are back up, the eyes are bright. Smiling, and the energy is there.
Now look at Jake with Austin. The smile that runs from ear to ear. He can't stop it, or tone it down. His eyes bright but a different dimension to them. His body language is telegraphing that the person near him is the person he wants to be nearest with.
Now go back and look at the new pictures and tell me that this is the real deal.

Interesting stuff going on in Hollywood with all this - should be equally interesting to see how it all plays out. Like I've always said, Jake (and Heath and most of all Ang Lee) has my utmost respect simply for doing Brokeback Mountain - I don't know of many gay or straight actors who would subject themselves to that much scrutiny. Hopefully its message regarding the damage of the closet will continue to resonate and give hope of better, more true lives for many others out there in similarly difficult situations.

I was just looking at the photos of Jake and Austin on the previous post, and I have to admit, I got a little misty eyed. I just don't know what to think anymore. Where Jake and Austin ever lovers? I believe they where, but I guess it dosen't matter what I believe. It looks like Jake dosen't want us to believe they where. It looks like he wants us to believe that he's with Reese. And whether he really is or not, I don't know. And if he is, or was ever with Austin, I'm not sure we'll ever know. The one thing I do know, is I just don't know what to think anymore.

Have to disgree Eastcoastfan. You should have a look at the whole series of pictures from the first Lakers game.
Ignore the smiley happy ones if you think they might be a reaction to the action in the game. (Although the crowd is looking the other direction from Jake and Austin.) Have a look at the quiet moments when for no reason they're wedged together with lots of room around them. They don't lose body contact for long. More than friends I think.
