Just a question here, dearies, and a preachy proviso to not always gobble up everything you read, this missive included.
In any case, since Reese 'n' Jake seem to be serious about whatever it is they're embarking on, we Awful busybodies came up with a Sick-Sick Six tally for more family (and photo) friendly outings the two hons should so plan:
6. Hike Runyon Canyon: Jake can bring his great gams and two pooches along while the whole happy clan goes thigh busting (Reese breaks a mean sweat at many things, don't forget) in the Hollywood Hills. Love!
5. Hit Pinkberry: Come on, what kid doesn't love dessert? Paparazzi are allowed inside, ensuring easy access to headline-hungry A-listers. It was one of Victoria Beckham's first stops with her boys when she moved here.

What is a amazing it that this has just a week since this all started and it is not whispers of fake. But shouts of fake. People are not buying it. And they are telling HW.
I think this is more about HW doing this than just Jake. That HW is still hung up on closeting. When you look at Jake's face you can see his miserable doing this. I know that many people think Jake agreed to this and he needs to be held accountable. And he does have some accountability indeed. But looking at the bigger picture that HW is still pressuring their stars stay in. And people are saying why? Why are they doing this. Society has changed and is still changing but HW is make the public feel like they are too stupid or phobic to accept gay leading men.
I think it is more about HW insulting people now.

i agree... HW is insulting the public, in a way, they are just plain lazy, doing things the safe old way and thinking ths is what the public wants.
the film that jake is attached to, "Nailed' is to be directed by david O'Russell who made the first Bourne Identity... remember what jake said about Matt Damon? it's no coincidence, jake probably wants to be like Damon with a successful box-office success role under his belt. and somehow people around him convinced him that the only way to get such roles is to do it the old-fashioned "straight" way.
i enjoyed the Bourne series, but i hardly think it has much to do with Matt Damon as an actor. Jake could do better than that as an actor.

I think the thing is that people are forgetting that Jake is a human being. While I wish things were different with him, I don't think making fun of him is helping at all. I think all this singling out of one actor, who for sure isn't the only "gay" actor in hollywood is unfair. Making fun of him is probably one of the main reasons why other actors didn't do BBM, etc. I love knowing about Jake and Austin but the scrutiny is too much.

You are right he is human. They are just two guys who want to be together. I am not angry with them, because I think the pressure from the TPTB are greater than anyone realizes. I am more angry at the HW system who feels that there is something wrong if you fall in love with someone who they feel is not right.

Jake is making a choice to participate in the HW closeting system. The fact that he made that choice is on him.
HW has decided that the only way for someone to be an A list actor is for him to appear straight. So HW demands that all actors who want to be A list appear straight and sets up a closeting system. The existence of that closeting system is on HW.
I really do think HW is behind the times and this closeting crap is unnecessary. That is the message I want to send to both HW and Jake. Plus, most of the time the actors who participate in the closeting system still can't get rid of the rumors. These actors get involved in relationships that their fans can tell are fake and it makes them look bad.

I'm sorry, I didn't mean my post above to sound like I am putting Jake on trial with my "reasonable doubt" comment, certainly not! Just a figure of speech. No, I am absolutely not angry with him, more concerned, but maybe I shouldn't be. He just doesn't seem to be himself. I agree with Special, times have changed and this type of think is no longer necessary. I discovered him as a wonderful actor in BBM; he will always be a handsome, dashing, romantic figure in movies to me, I've loved all of his roles. He should be able to be who he is and be happy, and still have the career he wants.
Maybe Reese’s kids know Jake as a close family friend and not their mother's 'boyfriend' as it is the intention of the Halloween photo op. Perhaps they know Austin too.

I don`t know if it`s true and when it happened. Can`t remember the place either, but it wasn`t in Hollywood. I remember he/she said the other guy`s name was Justin. Come to think of this comment now after we`ve heard about the model.

Thoughtful, no I don't know 100% that Jake is participating in the HW closeting system. I just very, very strongly suspect it. When someone is participating in closeting, it would be very hard to know 100%, that's the whole point. They're trying very hard to hide it.
If i`m not completely wrong, i think the comment i read last year was on Perez. I think the person said he/she had worked at that hotel, and i think it happenend in 2004 or 2005. It can of course be bullshit, but just strange with the name. It was not in L.A or New-York.
If they hooked up in 2004, Justin wasn't 21 y.o. yet. I know it means nothing, but still.

If Jake were just some gay guy hitting the clubs and going out with many different men, I don't think Ted would be so adamant about pushing him to come out. It's because he knows Jake is deeply in love with one man that he does this. After all, Ted is in a long term relationship himself and seems to be a romantic. By the way, what day did this article appear?
I don't want any part of a system that would pressure an actor to be something they are not in order to appeal to fans. I feel badly that I as a fan may have unknowingly helped to further this outdated thinking, because I do find Jake incredibly talented and appealing, onscreen. But that doesn't mean I expect him to be str8t - his sexuality in real life doesn't matter. For the record, HW, I don't think women need a leading man to be straight, any more than they Patrick Dempsey to be a real neurosurgeon. An actor is playing a role, that's all. It's much better for a person to be who they really are.
And Justin Schmustin, who cares? It's Jake and Austin now. :)
You know what I'd like to see, I'd like so see some reporter really grill David Geffen about HW and closeting. The problem starts at the top, too bad he doesn't have the balls to say it's okay to have an openly gay actor in a big movie. As mad as I am about Jake doing this, I have to remind myself that if people who have the power and money to change things don't do, it is perhaps unfair to expect someone like Jake to do it. On the other hand, someone has got to take that first step.
And that Guardian article shows how HW still doesn't get it about all this tabloid stuff. That plus I think more than ever people go to the movies because of the story, not the stars.
Regarding the In Touch poll, when I first looked at it the numbers were more like 54 % didn't believe it; but polls like this can be manipulated, all the fangurls probably went and voted 100 times each.

I remember reading on the E online message board that Jake checked into a hotel in Hawaii in May/june '05 while he was there for some film festival and doing surfing photo ops. They checked in and passed him off as his PA. He worked in the hotel. He didn't recognize him at the time but when pics of Chris became more frequent in '06, they said that Chris was the guy that Jake was with at that time.
For those who were asking, Austin wasn't on FNL last night. It's pretty definite that he'll be on the Nov. 16 episode (the description mentions that Julie befriends and/or confides in one of her teachers during that episode). Whether he'll be on before that is unknown.

Could be two separate sightings. I`m almost certain the one i saw named the guy Justin, but it could be a fake sighting. I remember thinking maybe it was Austin with him and they got the name wrong. Justin and Austin are very similar names.
I'm curious why this Awful Truth column isn't on E!... Do you think it will be up on Monday or do you think the E! lawyers made Ted take it down? Whatever the reason it certainly shows that Ted is not backing down. It makes me believe that he has very good sources for his info.
I'm also sure that the fangirls are voting constantly to change the numbers on the Reeke relationship poll. I still don't know why PR would be so concerned about what the online fans think - you'd think that they would have all learned their lesson from "Snakes on a Plane". As far as I can tell Jake's fandom seems rabid on the internet but he is still largely unknown by the general public. My guess is that Reese will help to increase his name recognition but it won't make that much difference in the long run. I still truly believe that people will like you better for just being yourself than for being the false representation of one of their fantasies.

I agree that the polls are fixed and people vote several times, then the results are neither accurate nor representative of what people really think.
IMO Reeke is aimed to the mainstream public and not online fandom, so I believe PR people don't care about the scepticism shown on online gossip sites. The main target of the charade is printed tabloids. The general public will definitely buy this couple without hesitation just because there are pictures and articles about them in magazines and they won’t think further about it.

Despite being a tb I find it hard to believe Jeese is a bearding relationship for the reasons Ted mentioned above: I think of Reese as a little Southern pixie, a letter-day Doris Day! I don't even know why I have this fixed mental image of her - a testament to her great PR, I guess. (Despite stories that she's actually hard as nails under the sweet surface). And she's been married and having kids in her 20's rather than falling out of clubs in the am.
On the other hand last year before Jake and Reese had even started working on Rendition I remember reading some silly article where a "pal" (tabloid writer) said they would make a great couple because neither of them were into HW parties.

Another point, I find it odd that it was Reese who confronted the paps while Jake hung back with her kids. I just read the US WEEKLY article about Jake and Reese "trick or treating" once again. I have to say: They must totally be in love. I mean, every chance they got, they flirted. The article says they did this when her kids rang on other peoples doors hoping to get some candy. They even ran after eachother in circles. OH OH... Jake also often lifted his mask to kiss Reese, and of course, he tried to scare her son. He just laughed. So sweet!!! You know, if the boy got scared, that would be a dreadful thing to report, don`t you all think? So sweet, ahh...too bad no one got these sweet moments on tape.
How can anyone believe this crap? I have to wonder. What is it about Hollywood and their stars?

I feel for Reese's kids and I hope they get through this okay. Their mother is the target of so much scorn right now, but regardless they are still just innocents. When I heard of what that paparazzi said about scaring her kids, I understood the impulse some stars have to lash out.
when i read the book about norwegian celebrities, where the autor was a former employee of the magazine, i notised a couple of things.- One time the autor, when he was still working for the magazine, wrote a biography of our crown-princess, Mette-Marit. The book was published by the same company who was behind the magazine.
The book didn`t sell very good, so the autor, after press from above, suddenly got another important job to do. - He had to try sell the book through writing comments in newspapers and so on. He had to pretend he was a thirteen-year-old girl. He had to pretend he was an old lady, an much between. He had to try write how a person that age would do, but they all had the same message in the end: " The book is well worth you`r money!"
Sometimes the magazine got caught in some very heathed discussions, and it often ended in a tabloid-studio. A place for discussions. Both parts meet to argue while the whole nation can watch through the tv.- When the magazine(se og hør, that mentioned Jake, Austin and the surrogate-baby),was a part of this, they had their employees at work. -The tv-programe always let sivil people ring in at the end of the show to speak their minds.
Of course the magazine`s employess were much needed at work that day. They had to call, pretending to be some person defending the magazine.
I know this have nothing to do with Jake and Austin, but behind the scenes...so much going on!

I think this bearding was a mutual decision. If Jake and Austin are still together, the decision to participate in the creation of a fake high profile relationship with Reese was something they both agree and decided together.
I don't think there are victims in this arrangement and everybody who is a part of it decided to participate.

I was shocked when i read the book, because the magazine is famous for their sunshine-celebrity-stories.
They are because they cooperate with the celebrities. The famous ones can choose what they want to have printed under their names. If they don`t cooperate- they will experience the pressure. The magazine will not give up on them and the M. sit on a lot of information. Information of the celebrities` dark sides and family-members`. They threaten them to cooperate, so they won`t tell the world you`r daughter is a lesbian or you`r wife has had an affair...and so on.

Wicked, i think it`s a lot of scandal in my country because one person REALLY dared to speak the truth. If someone dared the same way in you`r counrty, the scandal would be double, at least. We take from you. You are our "idol"!

The corporations own Hollywood, which is why you see such safe, homogenized output that plays to the lowest common denominator. It's for for lack of desire to be bold, or talent, it's just most there live under the stranglehold of threatened blacklisting. It's very real. A friend of mine who will be affected by the WGA walkout drove this home to me. Unfortunately, I can see this blacklisting happening to Jake and Austin if they dare to come out. We like to imagine they'd change things, but the truth is the corporations have deeper pockets than ever before have stifled truly free speech out there. Oh, you can speak up for yourself and gain admirers, but you'll never work again at the level you'd like. They'll make sure of it.
In this particulare magazine i have often seen photos of couples so in love, though they were surprised by the photografers and won`t comment. Hmm...surprised, still have eachother`s tongues fighting a wresling-game while both owners are smiling in the middle of nowhere where no photograferes were expected? Please!

Not only am I a model and I'm sure I make more in a day than you have in your entire second-rate career, but I'm also an actor and I'm appearing on Broadway right now in the revival of Terrence McNally's "The Ritz." That's Broadway, Austard, not off-Broadway or off-off Broadway. BROADWAY. So yes, I can read a script. But even if I couldn't, Jake certainly didn't care one bit.

My point is: Jake is responsible for what he chooses to do, but, at least, i think he`s very much pressured from the above. I feel for him, but, as long as he follows their rules, he ain`t making a better future for himself or the people behind him.

A little more on those who pull the strings: E! Entertainment, who Ted is an employee of, is also owned by Comcast, a conglomerate that also partly owns United Artists and MGM studios. Comcast put in a bid to BUY the entire Walt Disney Company (another huge conglomerate with many media holdings, including major studios in Hollywood) for $66 billion dollars. The day may come when all of Hollywood, from studios to cable networks, print media and distribution will be owned by the same few conglomerates.
If Jake and Austin want to work in Hollywood, that's the kind of power they would be up against, so don't judge them too harshly for being scared.

Lately I've been watching a few mystery-thrillers DVD of Richard Stevenson's books (gay mystery writer), and Chad Allen is lead (the gay P.I). While he's not an A-list, I dread to see Jake's career becoming like his. While all these movies are good enough, they are just small films that wasted Allen's acting ability.
Well, Wicked you got your wish. New pics of Jake at IHJ coming from the Staples Center and he is fully shaved! Don't recognize the guy he is with but it isn't Austin or Chris. 10:36, he only seemed to have the bodyguard when doing Rendition promotion.
Shouldn't have gotten excited. The discussion on IHJ makes it seem like these may be old pics. Jake's hair is a bit longer than just the other day with the altercation with the pap. Plus, Jake did say he needed the beard for Brothers.
The Clippers did play the Warrior last night at the Staples Center.
I wonder if they let Jake shave it off, even though it was for Brothers, after they saw it on the wardrobe - hair make up tests.

Stubborn TB, I think you're right. Same guy. I have all those Borders pics, just compared them to the Staples ones. The shirt makes him look different, older, but I think it's the same guy. Look at the IHJ pic of him from the front of the car, I think its the same face. Now we just gotta find out when the Staples pics were taken?

Hope you realize that is exactly my point. I have not, and never will, trash one in favor of the other. I just think Jake has been perceived as covering his ass only, with no regard for Austin and that is what I vehemently disagree with.

Btw Reese didn't look too good at that Child Defence party thing she went to the other night. A lot of the comments on various sites said she looked "rough." Anyway, I hate to say it, but let's hope she looked bad because Jake "broke up" with her. Or she caught him with someone. Or she can't handle Reeke anymore. Heres to hoping and wishing and praying.

Open, those aren't his kids. It's simply not his instinct to do that; of course, it's Reese's. She's their mother. (I bet if Ryan was there, that would be his instinct as well because he's their father)
For instance, when I cross a street with my father and cars are coming, my father immediately steps ahead of me and puts his arm out as if to stop me from going further and protect me from the cars. He does it all the time because it's instinct with him because he's my dad. And by the way, he's 70 and I'm over 30. So it's not like I'm some young kid either. It's just instinct. Jake doesn't have that toward Reese's kids because again he's not their father and despite what the rags and the Jeese fans would like you to believe, he's not in a serious relationship with Reese and therefore not attached to her kids.

Jake is a Laker's fan not dure why he would go see the Clipper unless they play Lakers. I kind of think these pics are old. His hairs looks significantly longer than 2 days ago. Not sure what's going on. But these days nothing happening around Jake makes sense :(

I agree with (thoughful tb) comments earlier in this thread. I do think that Jake is being hounded and it is effecting him. I don't like that. None of us know exactly what's going on for sure! I do think J/A were involved, but (I) happen to think that it is over know and I do hope they are still friends. Is this thought unreasonable. I mean people break up everyday. (especially HW celeb.)

To what extent their involvement is I don't know or wether it has legs to last. It could just be a fling. I lived a straight, then bi life for years, then fell in love with a man. It was very awkward but then exceptance sets in. It was not easy and I lied alot. When I came out to family and friends it was NOT at 26. Let's add some years to that. And If I had the eyes of the masses watching, hmmm let's just say I don't know what I would have done.
