Historic!

Please excuse our indulgence, but today is a historic day in America. Today Barack Obama becomes the first African American to become the 44th President of the United States. Today is about seeing dreams realized, history made, and a future changed.

This is a day unlike any day before or since. It is a moment in time that will never be able to be duplicated.

Millions of people gathering onto the great lawn of The Capital to see this live.

Billions around the world watching.

It is coming together, from all walks of life to join as one in hope and change and in promise of new dawn, a new day and a new future.

We know that both Jake and Austin are joining the celebrating as is the rest of America .

Very exciting and important day in our country. One good thing about having a bad cold and being home sick is that I get to watch all the excitment live.

Special day. Special Avatar.

Good luck President Obama.

I don't ever recall such excitement over an inaugurationl; they're setting up a tv in one of the conference rooms so we can watch at lunch, and when I walked by Rockefeller Center they had a giant screen set up in the plaza, not that I would want to watch outside, it is cold here today.

Haven't seen OTH yet. :-( My gf's mother is visiting, so I probably won't see it until Thursday. Funny about Sophia's line about Austin's grin, you just know they wrote that one in because of Austin.

Gotta ask: if Jake fans are Gyllenhaalics what are Austin Nichols fans called?

[Austin's name is an alcohol and Jake's last name is alcoholic LOL]

Happy day to all. We will have a TV set up in the office as well. I imagine no work will get done today in most offices. This is Obama's day and he deserves it. I am usually totally indifferent to politics but have never felt this excited or energized by any politician. I feel very proud of him.

Added something else to the post.

Destiny, you & m are lucky. Boy, no video monitors here except for computer screens that tell us how production is going, lol!

I had to run over to Wally World for my lil' buddy here @ work and they had it on the TV screens there. Pretty puffed-up shirt moment. But I was on a mission so I couldn't linger - green construction paper awaited! And now I have to get off of here so I can look for "100% Participation" in images. Now how in the heck am I going to find that, lol? I swear, what I won't do for my little buddy.

A few days of no new Reeke pics. How could that be? Did they not go out for coffee? Did Jake not go running with his trainer? Reese didn't pretend to exercise and then go shopping? How could these two have avoided the nasty paps? According to Reese they are always following them around and always just happen to be there when she's out. Maybe they had to reprogram Flynet's number on speed dial.

Tom said he would Fed Ex them a coffee maker. He must of overnighted it. Thanks Tom.

A decent speech from Obama, but I was not happy having to sit through Warren's invocation. On top of the whole mess with his attitudes towards homosexuals, it wasn't even a very good prayer, I didn't think. I sawa comment on a political blog that I agree with-Obama should have picked one of the many black clergymen who were involved in the civil rights movement.

destiny said...

Hope you're feeling better Tom.

Following, I think we should all put our heads together and come up for a name for Austin fans.

The federal government is closed down in DC, so we are off. It is impossible to get around here anyway. I will be so glad when all this is over!

Last night we watched Once. Fantastic movie and great soundtrack.

Reporting that Sen. Kennedy had seizure during the Inaugural luncheon and taken to the doctor's office inside the building. Ambulances were called to the Capitol.

As a child of a minister was not impressed with Rev. Warren's prayer, not formal enough for such an auspicious occasion. Now the inauguration benediction by Rev. Joseph Lowery was wonderful.

destiny said...

I know how you feel Wicked, I'm always glad when the holidays are over because the midtown are of NY where I work gets insane, in part because of the tree, and those crowds are nothing compared to what DC is getting today.

No offense to all the tourists, but I kind of liked the good old "bad" days when everyone was afraid to come to NYC.

Agreed.

I hope Sen. Kennedy is okay.

Reese pics: the 2 rings she wears on middle finger that the Reese and Jake believers swear is an engagement/wedding ring, is gone.

Florida Tom said...

I just heard about what happened to Senator Kennedy. I saw him walk into the innaguration and I thought that he looked pretty good. Hopefully he will be ok.

I also wasn't thrilled with Warren saying the opening prayer today but lets give President Obama some time to see how he deals with issues concerning the Gay community. Hopefully he will be supportive.

Oh, that was a good movie, wasn't it, Wicked? That moment when he & her sat down to sing that song together for the first time - it was magic. I was never wild about that song, but after seeing it performed in that movie during that moment, I was enthralled with it. To see the old man in the store listening to their harmonies and just enjoying it was what music is all about. It's giving joy to people. It's 2 people sitting down & collaborating a piece of music together. I thought that moment was just unbelievable. Did you notice that none of the people in the movie had names? They all had generic names. I thought that was interesting.

Well, it's 26 degree outside, feels like 20, but ol PG is going to give the walk a go.
I have a special reunion class tonight & since my pastor is going to be there, I won't miss it! So I'm going to miss all the Inaugural highlight shows. Oh well. Maybe I can see online.

And who wears their engagement ring on their middle finger? I never bought that for a minute. Heck, still waiting to see that $ 3050 necklace that Star blew their horn about 2 Decembers ago. Now watch. Now that I've said that, ol' Joe Flunkie will be sent to the local Jewelers with Bearding Expense $$$ to go buy a necklace. Expect to see it now in the next coffee/shopping pics.

Your welcome. I hope they enjoy the coffee maker. Anything else that I can do to help those two lovebirds have the privacy they so much desire I will surely help out.

It breaks my heart when reese gets so upset and frieghtened by those horrible paps.

Feeling a little better Destiny the Z pac must be kicking in. My boss actually called me and begged me to come back to work tomorrow. Bout time he appreciated me.

Special K and Stubborn TB:

Obama's inauguration speech reminded me of a poem read by Martin Sheen during his Actor's Studio interview. It was written by an Indian poet (Martin probably picked it up during the making of Gandhi), and IMO, it is quite appropriate for posting today.

Where the mind is without fear and the head is held high;
Where knowledge is free;
Where the world has not been broken up into fragments by narrow domestic walls;
Where words come out from the depth of truth;
Where tireless striving stretches its arms towards perfection;
Where the clear stream of reason has not lost its way into the dreary desert sand of dead habit;
Where the mind is lead forward by thee into ever-widening thought and action:
Into that heaven of freedom, my Father, let my country awake.

Speaking of Obama art, I like what Michael Murphy is doing. Check out the animations.

Also, I thought it would be nice to listen to Jake's CBS interview once again. Youth is not wasted on the young!

To see the old man in the store listening to their harmonies and just enjoying it was what music is all about.

I also loved the scene where the recording engineer really starts listening after initially dismissing them and is blown away. And the scene where he plays the tape for his father and his father tells him it's fucking brilliant.

Just wanted to say I thought Michelle Obama and the Obama girls looked fantastic today!

Fighting nervousness over going to my class. It's been so long since our last class. At least it sounds like we're just going to watch a video & discuss. I can handle that. Sit me in a structured classroom & I can function. Ask us to socialize & I'm going to cut class everytime.

Why on earth are people asking for Reeke pictures or even wondering out loud where they are? All they are is irritating with a capital I. Why would anyone ask for that? Let 'em be. They're living their own individual lives, laying low so to speak. It's tons better than seeing them getting coffee or shopping. Remember anyway. We all were complaining that there were too many Reeke pictures. Enough to gag a maggot. So Chez Reeke has obliged the menu request. Why argue?

Saw my friend DFord out at my park this afternoon. I had just arrived so I just stayed in my car while he drove on through. Funny. I used to knock myself out trying to talk to him & get his attention. Now I can't stand the sight of him. I suppose that's not a very nice thing to say. sigh. Oh well. Nice walk anyway. Funny how it can be 20 some degrees outside, but by the time you're done exercising, your hands are warm enough to take off your mittens. I love that part.

TTYL, everyone.

On Friday, January 30, Santa Barbara IFF will present A Celebration of David Fincher, where he will be joined by special friends.

I was obviously curious, and so a google search led to:
Jake Gyllenhaal who starred in David Fincher’s ZODIAC is confirmed for the Celebration of David Fincher on Friday, January 30.

Rattler I read the stuff you posted to Special and Stubborn. Do you mind? Gandhi stuff was great.

I just love the relaxed, calm, confidence Obama exudes. He'll make a great president. His speech was fantastic. Wish they hadn't stumbled over the oath!
Michelle and the kids looked great.

Don't care what rings Reese wears or whether she has a necklace or not. I don't believe anything I read about them in the tabloids. I hope for Jake's sake his performance in "Brothers" is good.

This is an old mention of Jake from when he was working on Nailed. Is it true - the goofiness of this just seem like yes. It sounds like the Jake you gotta love. Can you imagine making a mix for him? HA!

"I don't know where to begin. Well my Mom and Peter are getting paid to be extras in Jake Gylenthingy's new movie which is being shot in Columbia. Not only that, apparently Jake hangs out with my cousin's friends and they were driving around the other day and Jake heard a song he liked and bimbamboom one of my friends is now making Jake Gyllenhaal a mix, mad world indeed. Ha man I'm so excited for them, this is all so random and I feel like such an american for being tickled by this indirect interaction with someone famous."

Incredible day! Incredible day! It seems like the world got a little lighter for just one day. Now we all must work to lighten it everyday.

I love watching the Neighborhood Ball tonight.

Thanks Rattler for the all the cool stuff related to the today. And the better link for the Obamacan.Me link. I know you put it up for everyone to enjoy too, even when you send it with a name or two on it. Hope everyone gets a chance to enjoy it. It's all about sharing, especially today.

The words the art all ways of expressing what so many are feeling today.

Gotta say that is one of my favorite Jake interviews - why? He and Harry connect and you can see that. And Harry listens! when he interviews him.

Really really cool about Fincher and awesome that Jake will be there. One of my favorite things about Fincher is .....
He directed Billy Idol's Cradle of Love video! And if you look closely you can see his trademark of yellowish lighting even back then.

I was off today and pleased to be able to sit, relax, and share in the joy of the Obamma Inauguration through my CBCNewsworld up here in Canada. Your new President's speech was just perfect and the entire audience seemed so respectfull and attentive. I agree that the benediction by Rev. Joseph Lowery was wonderful; almost to the point of upstaging the Pres. with his final Amen's. ;o)

I hope the people of the world can draw inspiration from this leader's words and that his administation is marked with countless positive steps for the American Public and it's economy. Looks like we have a long road ahead but a new sense of hope is very evident today.

Hmm, review of The Informers on Defamer was not good, but it did say the film was full of attractive actors like Austin Nichols.

Anonymous said...

I wasn't able to open the Cinema Blend review but the other three seemed to mostly oppose the film's subject matter. If you are opposed to "drugged-up Hollywood zombies smoking too much, drinking too much", numb sex and the 80s why go see a BEE movie? What were these people expecting?

I'm waiting for a more detailed review of the narrative. Sounds like the film has some trouble connecting the different plotlines. I stil hope to see it on screen not just on DVD.

But on dvd you can run the good parts over and over and over andin slo-mo and closeup over and over and over
