With Mickey Rourke's win at the Golden Globes it adds another award to the cast of The Informers.
What started out in concept as a bunch of "What Have They Done Lately" actors and some new upcoming talent in a retro film, it now is fast becoming THE movie to see at Sundance.
But look at the cast, you have two Academy Award winning actors - Billy Bob Thorton and Kim Bassinger, a Golden Globe winner on the comeback of his career in Rourke, twice Oscar nominated Winona Ryder, BAFTA nominate Rhys Ifans, and Brad Renfro, who dazzled as a newcomer kid against Susan Sarandon. Then add in Jon Foster, Amber Head, Chris Isaak and Austin, it is quite the cast.
Yesterday's NY Times talks about Informers and its infusion of 80's sex and glam to Sundance. Unapologetic The Informers, is filled with the hedonism that was part of LA in the 80's and Bret Easton Ellis playground of inspiration. Filled with sex, drugs, glam, conspicuous consumption, moral ambivalence and bacchanalia that existed as the underbelly during the glossed over upright and good moral standing Reagan years that revisionists now make it seem.
Check out the out the NY Times article here: "Injecting a Taste of the Flush and Flashy ’80s Into Sundance"
While Informers did look like a ragtag bunch out to make a movie in Uruguay and made you wonder, did Austin just pick this one because it was work? But it looks like the point is moot, and shows that he has a good eye for what he wants to do. He's not scared of taking risks. From projects he's chosen, to the characters he's play, to doing the devil's threesome twice on film. While some might have chosen with a little trepidation, Austin seems to go with full confidence.
Informers Premieres at Sundance Film Festival January 22nd.
With JFC, and now OTH Austin has garnered more fans on the small screen, Informers might give him even more notice on the big screen. Don't think he'll mind one bit.
Post OTH treat - from of all Brulian fans out there who had them already up this morning - enjoy.

Well you guys can see what I was working on while you guys were commenting in yesterday's post about it.

I agree M about Austin's voice. I could just close my eyes and listen to him speak.
Thank you, thank you. Great way to start my morning with all Austin. I think he has been working out alongside Jake. He really looks trim. I dont think I have ever seen him looking better than in this last episode. I love men's voices. A weakness of mine and that voice has me drooling.
Who knows but wonder if the "pissed off looking" Reese at Brothers showing last summer had something with Jake skipping Jim Sheridan's gala Saturday. I wouldn't be suprised if Sheridan or something happened to put her in her place at the showing and then she pulled a stunt on Saturday so Jake couldn't attend.
You know that Austin pulls that voice when he wants something too. Seriously - the boy's got game.
Always think that Jake's the one who would be doing the sweet talking into things, I wouldn't be so sure. Cause with that voice... well..
I don't think Sheridan would bother with Reese.
All I can say is lucky Sophia Bush, okay its only acting but at least Austin doesn't try the hand as a barrier technique we've seen recently.
The buzz around the Informers is also good news. 2009's looking good for Austy fans and its not even half way through January.
But Reese would mess with Sheridan.
2009: Good for Austy fans
2011: Austin gets famous
2013: Austin starts bearding
Jake with the rally cap! You know its The Sox - woo hoo!
And way to show off those knees and a bit more in the shorter shorts ; )
Gman got some gams. Hmmm... hey ... they look kinda familiar. ; )
Jake Jogging Monday with his trainer
What the heck could Reese do to Sheridan. She's a fading rom-com actress, hardly Lucrezia Borgia (although I'm sure some of us think she is).
Austin: Again? We already spent 3 hours practicing this scene
Sophia: Something's still not right, we need to work on it more
I love INXS! The beat reminds of the city and an animal at the same time.
What the heck could Reese do to Sheridan.
Bore him to death.
What the heck could Reese do to Sheridan.
Hold Jake back from going to an event honoring him where pics of the director with his actor would promote the film inside the industry and for the public PR. tr pointed out it was very important for Jake to show up at the event. Not saying I know Reese was why he cancelled but given (1) the pics after the Brothers screening of Jake, Jim, Jake's agent and Naomi walking together and Reese looking extremely pissed off and walking by herself (2) Jake cancelling his appearence to Jim's Saturday event at the last minute and (3) Jake seen out Friday Sunday and Monday, it seems a little suspicious.
From what I've heard about Reese and her need for vengeance on anyone who slights her in the least, I wouldn't put anything past her.
Talk about Reese or talk about Austin kissing?
No brainer.
I was surprised at the kiss on OTH; in some ways the show is kind of chaste despite some of the plot lines, at least in the shows I've seen.
Spooky posted a new promo for next week's episode with more beautiful Austin kissing

PG, Tom has asked me to tell you that he and a co-worker are eating a whole box of Cheez-Its between them.
One thing I'd been kind of wondering, and really noticed last night, is that Austin's teeth look more natural, and I think that's another reason why he's looking so good. In some of his early work his teeth looked like he'd had a bad cap job, i.e., unnatural looking. I remember thinking that in particular with SFU.

LOL Wicked. What about vampires?
Saw that Knicks story, I don't know what to think. Could be true, could be a disgruntled former employee.

I haven't seen any ads like that. Is there a more information on this?

Austin's looking fine - I'm so looking forward to Informers.
I wish I could find a picture of him, but for those of you who have seen Slumdog Millionaire, do you think that the actor that plays Jamal's brother( the oldest version)-- Salim.... looks like Austin?
Dear Ted:
I feel stupid for playing this game, but anyway...Is Baby Tile's mother the same person as Toothy's beard? Love the column!
—Jenny
Dear Good One:
I'm not playing "Three Degrees of Toothy Separation," sorry. But love ya back!
Dear Ted:
I'm still entertained by the Toothy saga. I hope if and when he comes out it's for the right reasons, but sometimes it take's a little push. My guess for Toothy is Joseph Gordon-Levitt. He's the right age, born in the right place, has portrayed a gay character in Mysterious Ski, which was in release around the time the Toothy saga began. PS: I love Margo! She's adorable. Give her a treat for me.
—Ian
Dear Toothy Original:
Totally woof off, Margo says, sorry (think slicker, more famous).
The Awful Truth
Devil's Threesome
"Three Degrees of Toothy Separation" = link Baby Tile's mother to Toothy through no more than three connections ?
Latest Ted is a point to Jake
Why - This :
Live Blogging of the GG on Defamer
"8:50: Three degrees of Jake Gyllenhaal! One of this viewing party's gays (don't you have some at yours?) reveals that his husband tutored the on-screen Jake Gyllenhaal in math at age 17."
Defamer Live Blogs the Golden Globes
Never understood Degree numbers game. Do you count TT and BT as 2?
Well, i have to chew on that one. Don`t remember Ted-speach anymore, but at least he got the beard`s name almost throw`n in there.
Ok, i don`t quit understand it, but what used to be six degrees of separation, is now three. Family, work and friendship. It`s more easier to reach strangers now than it used to be. Facebook is one among others to blame.
Don`t know if that`s something similar Ted`s hinting too, but could be Ted means the birth-mother is not connected to Jake in any other way than just being that. My guess!
Agree with Special. Think he did it because of Defamer.
I agree with Special.
Yeah agree with Special but how many read/cared about Defamer live GG blog. And doesn't everyone [especially in LA Defamer reading crowd] know TT is Jake alreadY? I think Ted is saying something MORE than just pointing to Jake as being TT in this. Especially since he calls the writer "Good One" as if to say they are on the right track on TT being close to the mother [beard or not].
Mother could be:
1. the beard
2. friend/relative beard knows
3. someone beard helped to get [RW father is a doctor]
4. someone not at all having to do with Reese but VERY close 1-2 degrees away from Jake/Austin.
Jake and Austin had a life before Reese. Not every thing about their lives now have to be about her.
PG, Tom has asked me to tell you that he and a co-worker are eating a whole box of Cheez-Its between them.
lol!! Wowwww, that's quite a feat! They are addictive, tho, are they not? Good thing I wasn't there, Tom! Could've gotten a little crowded with all our hands tryin' to dig in there, lol. Doesn't opening one of those Cheez It bags drive you nuts? They vacuum pack it so full of air at the top and you can't just pull it apart at the top. It's like they seal it with Gorilla Glue or something. Or if you do manage somehow to pull it apart, it tears apart in the middle and CheezIt's go flyin' everywhere!!
The 'rents were just over here; I was helping them book a flight for a trip later in the spring. Got me all excited and in the mood myself to book mine. There are some good fares flyin' around out there right now.
PG -
Jogging is so much healthy than coffee. ; )
Good to hear that you got something on record with the cops. Trust your instincts-if you get freaked - there is usually a reason.
And plan those trips east!
Cheez its - if they're in the house - they're going down. HA.
True, true. Jogging is more healthy than coffee. That boy must have caffeine flowing in his veins, permanently.
Well, I haven't called the park police yet. I'm going to tomorrow, though. Who knows who's on duty at that time of day, anyway. I'll call during the day tomorrow.
And I am planning my trips; you bet. I'm so excited about it, Special. I've never been east before. I've been to Miami. Memphis. Chicago. Cleveland. That's as far as I've been. Never truly, really east.
Are you sure you don't have some burly male friend you could take with you a few times PG? You are worrying me girl, that's for sure! Please don't take any chances.
I think you may be onto something with the # Degrees Special, although it seems a bit obscure. I think there must be another reason for using that too, Ted rarely uses something like that without it having multiple meanings.
Special K: Now, why would Taylor Mead, who was Andy Warhol's muse in Taylor Mead's Ass write a song for Jake Gyllenhaal?
Two degrees of separation between Andy Warhol and Jake. How cool is that?
Destiny - I agree that Ted does not write something without multiple means. NG might be onto something too about slipping in beard into the Toothy tale by using the question and it might be someone close to them who helped them out.
I really don't think it has anything to do with Reese. And agree with the person who said not everything Jake and Austin do has to do with her. Think she is employed for different "B business" reasons - beard business only. If you don't diversify - you can get Madoffed.
The Dr. thing - well, Austin's pops a Doc too, you gotta remember that.
Rattler - Wow, interesting clip from Taylor Mead. Makes you wonder about if Warhol was still around and what he would think of Jake? Wonder if he would agree with Taylor as Jake as a muse for his art.
Do you think Jake will go to Sundance?
Spooky posted a new Informers trailer!
Warning: NSFW
The Informers - new trailer
You gonna keep me too busy answer the phone?
Keep your mouth too busy talk on the phone.
From the new Informers trailer, it looks like Austin spends most of the film topless and in bed.
Guilty pleasures indeed.
I'm bummed out that Prison Break got cancelled. But I have totally missed it this year due to my classes and then I got totally lost in the plot. Hopefully now Wentworth will get picked up by another project. And the guy who plays his brother. I like him, too. And my favorite - T Bag.
Looks like it's going to be a soup lunch today.
See ya, everyone. Have a good day.
Answered Prayer: “Prayers For Bobby” is a Groundbreaking Gay TV Movie
It’s an admittedly gripping story: a conservative Christian woman refuses to accept her gay teenage son, hounding him to “change” to the point where he commits suicide. But then, overcome by the realization of what she has done, the woman educates herself, renounces her previous anti-gay beliefs, and becomes a crusader for GLBT youth and gay rights.
Perhaps it’s not surprising that the real-life story of Mary Griffith of Walnut Creek, California, has now become Prayers for Bobby, a TV movie starring Sigourney Weaver airing on Lifetime later this month.
And yet, as extraordinary as the story is, it was anything but an easy sell.
“Making movies is hard enough,” says Daniel Sladek, one of the film’s executive producers. “But when you have a movie about teen suicide, a woman questioning her faith, and gay rights, that’s a hot potato.”
The finished film is not your typical TV movie. Unlike most previous gay TV movies, the filmmakers don’t dance around the issues; they tackle religion head-on, making the explicit connection between anti-gay religious beliefs and the oppression of gay people. As the recent controversy over California’s Proposition 8 showed, religious beliefs are still the primary — maybe the only remaining — argument against same-sex equality. In the aftermath of that fight, the movie feels eerily contemporary despite being set in the 1970s...
...One great irony is that many more people will probably see Prayers for Bobby as a heavily-promoted Lifetime TV movie than might have seen it as a smaller feature. And yet, the filmmakers claim they didn’t have to make major compromises on either their vision or their message.
“Predominantly, it’s the original script, the original vision and original work we started with by [writer] Katie Ford, who has been with us from day one,” Sladek says. “There were a lot of people along the way who wanted us to change it, temper it, add melodrama. But the three of us, [Ford, Taaffe, and myself], we stuck to our guns.”
Indeed, the story is told with subtlety and sophistication, and the performances — especially Ryan Kelley as Bobby and Weaver, who will almost certainly be in the running for an Emmy — are excellent. It may be the best TV movie on gay issues ever, precisely because there is absolutely nothing cautious or watered down in its execution...

Makes you wonder about if Warhol was still around and what he would think of Jake? Wonder if he would agree with Taylor as Jake as a muse for his art.
Good question. It is possible that he would. I found this article for you to read: Queer eye for the cowboy.
Andy Warhol certainly had noticed the appeal of hunky cowboys for the gay imagination - and the dangers they courted. He had his early feature film, Lonesome Cowboys, shot in 1968 in Oracle, Arizona, using a movie-ready Main Street constructed nearly 30 years earlier for use in westerns.
And I am sure the art would definitely please you ;) And StubbornTB would be late for work everyday, like, for a month :)
Got me all excited and in the mood myself to book mine. There are some good fares flyin' around out there right now.
Well, come on, girl! Cherry blossom time is in April, you know.
Great news for Austin - both "Prayers for Bobby" and "Informers" sound promising. And Austin's looking mighty fine on OTH.
Well, come on, girl! Cherry blossom time is in April, you know.
You should PG, it is gorgeous during Cherry Blossoms.
The more trailers I see for Informers, the better it looks.
