Best Remedy

What's better for the "too much turkey too much family, too much pie, I've maxed out all my credit cards on Black Friday sale" hangover, all before noon?

Two words: Austin Friday

We've been getting clips of Jake so thought some clips of Austin would be fun.

Austin talking about Julian and Brook.

Austin signing Autographs (September)

And because the Longhorns beat Texas A&M yesterday

Wonder if Austin made home in time to share some turkey and catch the game.

Actors playing drug reps agree, best remedy for anything.

Toothy mention from Ted today, Goose as well. Brief, but sure implies they are still together.

"Dear Ted:
If Toothy Tile is really in such turmoil about his sexuality/beard relationship/Hollywood pressure/Grey Goose love affair, he seems to be hiding it rather well. Is he truly a liar and a coward, Ted? I am asking because I do believe I've guessed his identity, and if it is the person I am speaking of, I've always had a soft spot in my heart for this person, who seems such an otherwise good-hearted fellow. Please don't be coy and tease with lines like "Well I don't know, who do you think he is?" my dear. And also, does his family know about Grey Goose?
-Jkr

Dear No Teasing, Please:
I'm kinda crushed, too, so that makes two of us. And, yes, very much so."

Thanks for the clips. Have I mentioned before how much I love Austin's voice. Very soothing.

Dear Ted:
Can we talk about Adam Lambert's performance at the AMAs? As an openly gay public figure, I would think that you'd have more to say about Lambert. If a woman or even an underage girl had performed the same exact act, right down to the same-sex kiss at the end, there would not have been nearly the same backlash. Don't you think we need to be talking about this double standard and being as verbal as those who seek to hold others down? Adam Lambert has one of the best voices out there today. He could also do wonders for the younger gay generation, who needs to see others like themselves out there. Neil Patrick Harris is great, but he can't be the only one.
—Millennia

Dear Yay Not Nay on Lambert:
I totally agree, Adam didn't do anything wrong! There's a definite double standard that needs to be looked at for sure. So boring and predictable that people can't see that.

It has been a long time since we have been graced with a major reekeing. What do you all think?

??? said...

Why are you so obsessed about it?

TWEET! said...

New strategy:tweets. Reeking is played out plus they were busy filming back to back and there are no paps in PA.

True he showed up on her set when she was filming in DC and Philly and there were paps there but Pittsburgh, no. But we got tweets and blog sightings and stories in the local papers.

Even when they are in NY we don't get pics, just tweets.

I think the new strategy is the more low key, the more "serious" they appear. It's almost like in the beggining all you read was sighings but no pics.

Well as much as they were attempting to portray the witherspoons as a happy couple and jake such a great Step Dad who adored the kids u think they might want to let their beloved hetero fan base know they were together on Thanks giving.

Florida Tom said...

Or did they finally figure out the no one cared two squats about reeke.

TWEET! said...

Thanksgiving is suppose to be a private family and friends gathering, even for celebs. I didn't notice any other celebs Thanksgiving get together being blasted on the blogs and, not yet anyway.

Don't worry, the rags will pint something next week as per usual.

You sure give a squat about Reeke, you actually seem upset that they decided to ditch the photo ops in favor of tweets!

Probably too late for most of you but I notice tonight's Numbers is a papa g directed episode. His blog today talks about the excess packaging on an item shipped to him, and it was way excessive. I noticed the vendor was from Pgh. A gift from Jake perhaps? It was a food item.

Finally some time to play on the internet and post.

Regarding my long-promised views on the Adam controversy, I have mixed feelings about the whole thing.

First off, I did manage to catch the performance. Taped it too, but haven't had time to watch it a second time. I was taken aback the very fleeting shot of faux fellatio, as I've seen it described, mostly because I knew it was going to cause trouble--even if I don't agree that it should cause trouble. But this is a very prudish country when it comes to sex, but not violence, and if Adam had gone on there and faked a murder, with fake blood splattering all over the stage you probably wouldn't hear any complaints.

I think Adam is absolutely right about the double-standard, at least when it comes to everything else in the number. I can't believe CBS blurred the kissing image, with the lame excuse that they didn't know if it would cause any trouble legally to show it--but then went ahead and showed the Madonna-Britney kiss.

And gee, it was ABC that bounced his morning appearance--owned by Disney, home to bearding homos. ABC and Disney only like their gays in their proper places.

But ultimately, when all was said and done, I think it was a bad move on Adam's part, for several reasons. The most important is that I think what makes him special is his ability to connect with the audience, and you can't do that if you're doing a staged/semi scripted performance like he gave on the AMAs. I thought the performance was boring, he was off-key, he looked unnatural and forced, I never find things like that sexy, etc. Plus it is not original, other than the gay man angle.

How much better it would have been to just go out there and knock the song out of the ballpark, without all the trappings.

I also think he runs a risk by being too outrageous too early in his career. And I will be crushed if he doesn't succeed.

Ultimately, in some strange way, I think both his cd and his performance were playing it safe. The music is not as original sounding as I'd hoped although I am enjoying it, and there are some songs I really like. Same with his performance, I felt like he was following some perceived formula to push the envelope. He's already doing that, no need to throw in the artifice.

But the music business is screwy anymore, and Lady Gaga is one of the biggest stars there is because of her antics, so I think the jury is out as to whether the attention is good or bad for Adam.

I used to watch Numbers, haven't in a couple of years. Stephen G. has directed for them in earlier seasons, so not sure why he's blogging about it.

Just Jared already has up quite a few Thanksgiving "couples" photos, it's a big time for those looking to squeeze out some publicity. Nothing special or sacred about the holiday.

I'm guessing Reeke is keeping it on the low-down because they know Jake gets ripped a new one every time he is seen with her, and they don't want it to distract from Brothers publicity. Who knows, maybe Sheridan even put his foot down about it. There have been countless photos of Reese the past week or so, but most have not made it to JJ and the usual suspects, and when they have, nary a word about Jake.

Special K said...

Destiny - Adam was so much better on Letterman than the AMA,(I watched both). Why do I say it was? Letterman is just a smaller performance, but tighter and on point. It was a great song coupled with a great voice that's what makes a great performance.

M - thanks for the head about Papa G. I kind of want to give Jake a hug as ponder what growing up was like. Then I want to hug Austin and Peter for what they've signed up for coming into the G clan. : )

destiny - i agree with your thoughts that the lack of reekeing is to allow jake to promote brothers without confusing the issue. plus, it's easier for the interviewers not to ask about her at all if there aren't 17 recent pics of them getting more coffee floating around.

my question is this: if they are smart enough to realize that Jake is getting ripped a new one everytime he's seen with her, seems like they'd realize it's time to cut the cord on this very bad idea.

plus, there just is anything they can really do about jake himself: after watching a couple of his recent interviews, he just seems totally not het at all. can you imagine him and reese together in a man/woman relationship? i know that the dynamics of everyone's r'ships r diff, but i just see him getting p-whipped and eaten alive with her. it's just a really bad combo imo.

i guess that's the thing that's bugged us all about it from the beginning. it would be one thing if he was with some woman that we could believe he was actually having a relationship with, but reese just isn't that woman.

prairiegirl said...

Exactly, sienna. She is so far off the board from him. And yeah, there's only 5 years difference between them. Normally, I would say kudos to the woman for snagging a younger, hot guy. But they are so unbelievable as a couple.

PR tried to push the "she likes to stay at home & cook, lead a simple, quiet, country life, she's just a simple Jif Peanut Butter mom", and Jake was already known to like hanging at home, he liked to cook, liked to read, all those quiet things that the ladies like. So that's what they hoped would be believable about the 2 of them together as a couple.

Not.

The fact that all they did was go out to eat constantly already killed that on the Meter of Believability.

They also overexposed themselves. Heck, even some of us (I know I did) got tired of seeing Jake. Good grief.

I don't know who his hetero type would be, but on a believability scale, it sure isn't her.

I think you're right, too, Destiny. How could you ignore that everytime they are on JJ anymore that the nasty comments were just overwhelming and it's not just us who are reading them. This is everyone and you know they have to be saying "Huh? Man, what are these people talking about?" Whether they are aware of bearding or not, Joe/Jane Doe have to wonder what it's all about and there must be something to it.

Not good.

Whew, you all were up late, weren't you?

prairiegirl said...

Awww, I would feel bad if that package of candy was from Jake and his dad did not speak well of the packaging it came in. That would not be nice and especially to do it on a public blog.

m, how are you feeling? I'm sorry you were ill on Thanksgiving. I hope you are well on the mend?

Whoa, Destiny, I did not know about the extent of some of Adam's performance. All I have seen is his kiss. I agree that a sex act would not be in good taste on TV.

Dereck Hough & his partner did something like that in their dance routine on Dancing W/the Stars and Tom B., the host, told them to knock it off and remember where they were at. There is a limit. I don't see anything wrong with him kissing a guy, though. If they can show Madonna & Britney, they can show Adam & his keyboardist.

There definitely is a double standard, tho. People will handle 2 women together, but 2 guys? Nyat.
And I wonder if it isn't because of hetero males themselves. They are so threatened & there is such pressure to be manly and Clint Eastwoodish that acceptance of gay male-ism can't even be shown.

Oh boy. Everyone's gathering around the table. My brother, my mom & my aunt are all getting ready to sit 'round and have their coffee and whatnot.

I tried to get up early so I could get on here and say a few things but I swear, there just can't be any opportunity.

I complain a bit but this has been one of the best Thanksgiving holidays. It has been tough at times without my dad but well, you can't change that.

My brother married the best girl he could've possibly married.

Last night, we were all treated to an impromptu mini-concert by my little nephew who played his band instrument for us. It's not a tuba because he's too small to play it. I can't remember what it's called but the case it comes in is HUGE! It's just about bigger than he is. He played a couple of Christmas songs and I got all emotional when I thought on how my dad would have loved to hear him play. He loved those kids more than anything.

But there we were, watching his band concert on video and that's how my Friday evening went, LOL! You know how that goes.

Anyone else go shopping yesterday? I can't believe how much we did. 3 different times. I'll have to tell you about the Nifty Nut House later. I've talked enough for now, tho.

Special K said...

It could have do with Brothers, but not sure if its all that. Remember the screening and Ms. R leaving and while it was tried to make to look like it was when everyone else left, it really seemed that she was crashing and didn't really stay. But wonder if they do have to extend this longer, that this is the solution to do that.

prairiegirl said...

One last thing for now, though.

My other point about Adam's ditty on the AMA's and I don't have any idea whose idea it was for how he performed on there, whether it was his or you never know, maybe the manager.

But alot of performances & appearances on TV anymore are about what I call the "15 minutes of Fame" syndrome. It's all about getting your name out there and being outrageous so that you are the subject of watercooler conversation the next day. It's about being on Good Morning America & the Today show the next morning and then on Larry King the next evening. Or you can hold out and give that big exclusive to Oprah a week or so later. That's a whole other strategy. To say or do nothing at all and be the object of curiosity & wonder. Then do a big Tell-All book or give that big exclusive interview.

The Balloon Family and Kanye West proved to what extent today's people will go to in order to get publicity, attention, and financial gain.

I'm not saying this was Adam's sole intent but I would not be surprised if this new mentality didn't play a small factor somehow. It's about being on YouTube and getting the million hits. That's where we are today.

I hope he's different, though. He sounds like a very original performer so I hope he doesn't get too influenced or packaged.

Well SK reeke sure has been scaled back. Which either tells us it is a Brothers break or they have changed their approach to the way the relationship will be portrayed to the public.

It was always so funny when thay complained about the paps but made themselves so available. It has been so easy to see that they didnt get much interest from paps but that almost all the times we have seen them together have been photo ops. It all started with Rome. What a joke that was.

I think the deal was to make jake appear straight before PoP. So we may see more of reeke this winter but my bet is that he is available for the ladies once again before the PoP premiere. It sure will be interesting to see which way his life goes after next May.

Sienna I totally agree it is so hard to sell Jake or Austin as macho men when you see the interviews and hear them speak. Sorry it aint happeneing. Both guys are soft spoken and come off a bit feminine. Also why is it that Jake has such a hard time agreeing to take a picture with a male fan?

As for Sophia and Austin. I agree they look comfortable together but I do not see sexual chemistry. Too bad Jake has had to suffer with a beard he has obviously been uncomforatble with since day one.

Who knows what Jake is doing.

But Austin Nichol's relationship with Sophia Bush is legit.
They are together, they are a couple, they are a romantic couple.

It's really a shame that Austin has been dragged into this mess.

Don't worry, one of these days you might actually believe that!

And then you can stop trying to convince others. No more nagging doubts in your head that force you to say it over and over again!
Aren't you looking forward to that day?

We here definitely are.
