One scene two ways

Watching this week's One Tree Hill again. (okay I fast forwarded a lot) This is Austin best episode of the season but there is so much more to see, and yet he is fully clothed. He got to exercise more of that acting muscle than he has in the past weeks, and you could catch glimpses of more of the actor in him. It seems like in scenes with Brooke he is written and directed into a tighter box, definitely the second fiddle in the scene, "none shall pass", let's say.

And did you notice - he called her Brooke Davis(TM)when he talked to Nathan. Who knows her last name - heck he slept with her - she's the godmother to his son - no last name required.

Think we are going to have to add every time Julian says "Brooke Davis"(TM) to the Austin/Julian/OTH drinking game.

Speaking of Julian and Nathan.

Two guys, one tent, a Brokeback quote. Talk about one scene two different ways.

Funny how things that connect in real life have ways of making into storylines.

Thank you to Spooky and Vesperlynd at Austin Nichols Journal for the great screen caps. Please go check out the rest of the screencaps at AJN. Thanks guys!!!

I couldn't hear if he dropped a movie title, but when talking about sports movies Julian was very knowledgeable about the need for someone with a basketball background to make sure a film about basketball gets it right.

You know what was funnier that Julian didn't mention that one basketball movie - you know the one about the team from Texas State, what was that movie again? Hmmm Glory Road. Didn't that guy who was in TDAT in it? Austin something?

Jake is SO pretty to look at. But this movie looks like an over-the-top special effects mess. Can't we just have a movie with him rubbing suntan lotion all over his body?

Some of the PoP Q&A with Bruck and Mechner.

Q. What was your inspiration for the game and the Parkour-eque stunts of the movie?

Mechner: The first 10 minutes of Raiders of the Lost Ark in 1981 was the immediate inspiration for the first Prince of Persia game. But I think the movie goes very far beyond that. Rather than try to do a literal retelling of the game, I think the movie is very much its characters and some of the coolest elements from the game reconfigured into a story. There's Parkour, there's sword fighting. It's pretty extrem

Q. What made Jake Gyllenhaal right for this role and what physical training did he do?

Bruckheimer: He's one of those guys who can be a huge romantic hero. He's handsome, he's a wonderful actor, and I've always wanted to work with him. We got very lucky that he A) liked the material and B) was available to do it. He worked for months and months before the movie started. He rode bikes, he lifted weights, and he had a very specific diet. He couldn't have any fats, and it was really a lot of protein. All during filming, he was working in 120 degree heat. He had a trainer with him both here and in Morocco working with him to make sure he really kept his physical appearance the way he wanted it to be.

Would you do? Jake Gyllenhaal

Bruckheimer - Nice to hear again how Jake's appearance is the most important thing about his PoP role. Geez.

Mechner on what he thinks of his baby now a big movie:

"I got this big smile on my face that wouldn't go away," Mechner said, when asked how it felt to see his creation brought to life. And when the inevitable question about the pitfalls of crappy videogame movies were brought up, Mechner's advice is that rather than just being a movie based on a videogame. "It's got to be a movie that can stand on its own."

Jordan Mechner on Jake as the Prince

Q: The casting of Jake Gyllenhaal seemed to upset some people. What did you think of his performance, and what aspects of the prince does he bring out well?

JM: That kind of gets back to "who is the prince?" To me—and this goes back to the original game—to me, the Prince of Persia has always been a hero in the mold of Errol Flynn in Robin Hood, or Doug Fairbanks in The Thief of Baghdad, or Indiana Jones in Raiders of the Lost Ark. He's not this invincible warrior who is out looking for enemies to vanquish. He's more of an underdog. He fights with a sword, but he lives by his wits. He's got this sort of mischievous quality, this certain attitude and humor about him, and a vulnerability as well. You can see why the girl falls in love with him. I think Jake embodies all those qualities and captures them in a really appealing way. I think that comes through in the trailer as well. The action-hero side of the role, Jake took that very seriously. He did a lot of training, horseback riding, sword fighting, parkour, and he actually did a lot of his own stunts to a degree that movie stars usually don't. He's in fantastic shape, he worked really hard, so I think he makes a great Prince of Persia.

I saw that towerload comment over on WFT2. Cracked me up. It's really true. Jake naked, applying any kind of lotion, is really all that's needed. Wait, I take that back. Austin applying the lotion for him would be even better.

Just because 2 coworkers who have been longtime friends go to industry-related events, travel together and act as each other's escorts doesn't mean they're dating, sucking and fucking. Reeke has shown us that.

Someone on the previous thread said that he wasn't at this event. Just posted the clearer pic that showed that he was, that's all.

Went over to fanforum to see the photo. Like I said early in the week Art of Elysium is the same organization that Austin and Sophia went to the benefit for in LA. Jake has supports Art of Elysium too. Totally can see why Austin would support them. His past with Claire and knowing a number of other artists and photographers in his circle of friends

But that's one way to cover a fivehead. (Bring me the big goose feathers!) Artists created the masks for the celebrities who attend and then the masks are to be auctioned off.

What is really funny is the talk about the other picture of them posing in a restaurant in Wilmy, that Spooky put im one of her posts today. It was from a comment left at Hjulia's Austin Media back in Sept. The talk makes it seems its a)really recent and b)somehow it magically appeared.

rock said...

Really? Most seem to realize it's an older pic. I guess since Hjulia's site is f-locked and Spooky's isn't, it makes sense to the folks on FF that it "magically appeared". Not everyone in the Austinverse is on Hjulia's LJ.

Special K said...

I didn't think that post that the picture made was as comment locked because the comment was under the name anonymous over at Hjulia's. So I went back to Hjulia's and the post is public. But hey I still looking thinking that mask of Austin's reminds me of. ; D

destiny said...

Well in these latest Halloween pictures you can at least see it is really them. I don't think either one of them look very good in the pictures; the mask is all wrong for Austin, and that dress is not flattering on Sophia.

It's Time to Give One Tree Hill the Axe said...

tv.com One Tree Hill has become a sorry excuse for a drama -- even for the CW. Season 7 has reduced the former phenomenon to a shell of itself that centers on a dilapidated bunch of generically pretty people with uninteresting problems. Exhibit A: Some girl claimed Nathan (James Lafferty) cheated on Haley (Bethany Joy Galeotti) -- but he didn't! It's all good. No drama. Wholesome family values. Exhibit B: Brooke (Sophia Bush) and Julian (Austin Nichols) spend their days having sex on the beach and whining about their life choices. Who wants to watch ball-and-chain back-and-forth? Exhibit C: New kids on the block Clay (Robert Buckley) and Quinn (Shantel VanSanten) get closer because ... everyone else is taken. Creative! I'm almost to the point of begging for a cheesy adulterous scandal -- at least that would be fun to watch. That whole ghosts-of-girlfriends-past thing that Clay is dealing with is weak, anyway.

The ratings are down from last season (2.54 million vs. 2.8 million). The thrill is gone. And the show hasn't even made it to the Friday night death slot yet! Do us a favor, Schwahn. End it.
