Such a chore

Last Tuesday OMG made a laundry list.

prairiegirl said...: I think you are right Tom that Jake chose the path he is on, while under pressure from family, friends and the studio. Ironically, I think had he come out, he would be way more famous and successful now. A leader rather than a follower. But he did not want to be a leader

While I think it's kind of hard to say either way because we don't have a Ghost of Christmas Past or Future to show us, no doubt people wouldn't be surprised anymore by some of the head scratching goings on for the last several years if the big closet had not been chosen. Nor would Jake look the way he has for the last several years.

Austin is in on the decision as well though, not just Jake. There are two people in the equation. One cannot come out without the other coming out as well. Both Jake and Austin are tied to each other in more ways than one. Jake is definitely the higher profile, more famous, but Austin has also played along.

It's one of the saddest ongoing stories in HW, I think. These two guys are paying such a high price for their chosen path and all anyone can do is watch. They could have stayed in even a glass closet or one that is at least more quieter but Mgmt and someone's mother seem to think that all kinds of clangs and bells are better.

It really seems to me that Jake is hellbent on proving himself. It's like he thinks he's not worthy or good enough the way he is. The macho roles, this latest obsession with winning awards, the desperation shown by the behavioral choices taken while in the closet point towards him trying to please someone. It's like he is trying to make himself acceptable in someone else's eyes and win their approval.

Jake never wanted to beard with Alyssa. That was so evident it wasn't funny. Him saying T & A on that TV show, that wasn't him either. These are cue cards being provided by someone else.

You would think the inner circle that cocoons him would be encouraging and supporting for an independent road instead of enabling this old and tired one that seems to be almost embraced by all involved.; October 30, 2013 at 6:05 AM

destiny said...: Jake himself has said he felt like he had to get his parents attention and that's one reason why he went into acting, and it's probably one source of the insecurity. But it's also the closet--how many stories have we read about how it tears people down.; October 30, 2013 at 9:38 AM

prairiegirl said...: lol, isn't that great? I couldn't believe when I found a Boston terrier to boot. It was too perfect. And I love the two little dog biscuits he has on a plate in the corner. LOL.

I'm wondering if we'll get Austin walking little Arthur next. He can sit on a park bench with Arthur lying underneath, just like his hubby did with Charlie.
