When JFC saw US Weekly

Standing around looking at the newest US Weekly.

John to Kai: "See God, Kai."
(Pointing to the cover smiling. )

[He's a hot God, John. ]

Barry: "Avon. Wonderful."

Shaun: "The pigs have got grandma."

[Shaunie! ]

John: "Yesterday was a three-ring circus."
(Pointing again to the magazine)

Barry: "I didn't know I placed an order."

John and Kai being Jake and Reese.

Kai to John: "Touch my tits."

John: "Tits don't ring a bell."

John: "Butchie hurt my tit."

Barry: "I am looking. I am seeing … Avon in an entirely new light."

John: "I've got a cramp! I HAVE TO SELL IT!" (in a Southern drawl)

John walking away.

Kai: Maybe I'll go too. You know, that family's got enough of their own problems, but can't we do our little part to make them worse.

Kai: "Time for your 'Ballbuster Booster Shot'?"
(Picking up the magazine one more time)

John pacing and talking.

John: "Your mother has turned herself into the worst ball-buster known to man so no one would be around her, and she wouldn’t have to be afraid she’d do something like that again."

(walking back and forth)

John: The internet is big.

John: Today will be a three-ring circus.

John: It could mean a thousand years.

John: It could mean 10 minutes.

John : Do we make that up selling at shrines?

Barry, to Ramon, describing his vision: "I see a row of faces...rapt"

Ramon: "In what?"

Ready Freddy:( talking to himself): "We are on the precipice of a clusterfuck."

John: "Some things I know some things I don't"

Shaun: "I know more than I let on."

Bill: "I've got my eye on you!"

John: "No, I've got my eye on you!" (staring at the magazine again)

Butchie to John: "Radio silence 'til further notification. "

John and Linc: "Maximum right now pow boom!"

John: "Tomorrow's another day." (Picking it up again staring at the cover)

John: "If you are the end, I am near you." ( Touching the cover)

This is one of your best, special. I couldn't stop laughing while reading it. I love how something like the US Weekly cover can be so creatively inspiring to you. And I had completely forgotten about the JFC/Avon connection. :D

The response are 98% Milch, right from the series. Only what is in the brackets is what was added.

Seriously how could you not be inspired to use something as wacked out JFC to describe something as crazy as Jeese.

Remember JFC the complete series comes out (in the US)on Tuesday, April 1st.

Who is going to see Stop-Loss this weekend? I am! Was planning to anyway, but especially now want to give Ryan some support.

Great post, Spesh! Looking forward to seeing JFC on April 1.

I'm thinking about seeing Stop-Loss, also "21" - it looks really interesting, and one of the lead actors, who is British, does a hell of an American accent. Why are Brit actors so great? :)

It's such a shame that JFC proved to be so obtuse. Austin was the best thing about it. Had it been succesful, I think things would be a lot different now.

With both guys, there will be a long wait till we see them on film. Brothers has a Dec release date, Informers Oct, last time I checked. That's a lot of time to keep fans on the hook.

If Reese wants to find Unicorns she should ask Heatherette where to look.

But she should know this M.A.C., honey, and not the Avon Ladies.

Heatherette launch M.A.C. line

This post is a riot Special. One great post after another this week. And I think we must be on the same wavelenghth this week because this whole US thing made me think of JFC. But I had completely forgotten about the Avon reference.

Makes me sorry all over again that JFC was cancelled. It's particularly a shame when you consider everything else that has come after it on HBO has had even smaller audiences. HBO was too quick to pull the trigger. :-(

If any of you have any questions or issues you'd like me to answer or address for the final April 4th post, please post them in the comments. I would like to end Waiting for Toothy with as much closure as possible. Thanks, guys. :)

Just thinking about Reeke on the cover of US Weekly. Not only do we know why the farmer's market pics were taken, we also know why the Reese and kids buying the pigs shots were taken as well. Those shots were taken on Friday and were in the magazine on Wednesday. Must have been taken specifically for that story.

Wicked,
It is on Jake's website that all
of his and Reese's friends are all
expecting them to marry.
That website is:
www.JakeGyllenhaal.com

I would like your opinion on this question of mine: Has Ted
ever said anything about Toothy
and boyfriend sharing a house
together? Has Ted ever indicated
that Toothy and boyfriend have
broken up completely recently?

IF Jake and Reese marry, she
had better have an ironclad
prenuptial agreement in place!

How is that adorable Tink? I
hope she is doing good.

You and Special K are doing
a fabulous job-you NEVER cease to
amaze me!

london tb said...

Hey kacie, I can answer your questions this time - well, except for the one about Tink. Sharing a house - not in so many words, no. Broken up - no, he's said nothing.

I love this post, guys :) It's very poignant at the end, though.

Such a cute exchange on the HBO site, someone said their bichon frise reminded them of John and included a photo, then someone else said yeah their dog and their grandkids reminded them of John :D

A lot of the success of the film has to go to the amazing casting of the film. I have never been much of a fan for Ryan Phillippe), but he might have just converted me. This is an amazing performance of such complexity and earnestness that I was left truly amazed. Joseph Gordon-Levitt has been a rising independent superstar, completely washing away his child actor days in films that are challenging, playing parts that require his brand of smooth ferocity. This character is important even though he does little for the plot by being a tragic figure. I believe he might see his first nomination for this role. But my favorite performance may also be the most worthy of the Oscar this year: Abbie Cornish. Cornish isn't just throwing diamonds as a young woman in love with an impossible man.

This is part of a review of "Stop Loss" that I found on Imdb. Very good reviews for the acting in this movie.

I have alot of random comments, sorry.

The movie sounds good Tom. Cornish & Ryan & JGL are underrated actors & maybe this movie will put them on the map. I hated

Where is my husbaaaaaaaannnnnndddddd?

in Rendition. That was fucking awful and the critics and moviegoers all laughed and cringed and laughed some more. Reese can't act, Election and Legally Blond were her being herself, not acting. Her Oscar for WTL was a joke. [Ask yourself where many of the past Best Actress Oscar winners are now.] HW has a way of playing jokes and it takes awhile for the punchline, just wait.

Good post btw even tho I ve never seen JFC. I'll have to Netflix the dvds so I can get the Avon jokes.

I'm going to see Stop Loss too. I'm liking Ryan more and more.

I still wonder about if its Austin or Chris. Don't hate me for this but Chris seems more domestic and him and Jake look like a married couple, mirroring each others postures and physically looking alot alike. And Chris was with Reeke in NYC and I think he was at the farmers market too. [the 3rd coffee]

Reese & kids & nanny stopped off at pig farm to way to Ojai. No pics of Jake at pig farm. Now wouldn't you think there would be if he was there? of course there would. But US story says he was there for BD and Easter (if you beleieve US). Soooo if Jake was there in Ojai later he drove up alone? or with someone else like a friend or bf? I can see [easily see] fag hag Reese enjoying company of Jake and bf. I can also see an agreement between them [J&R] to stay out of public eye this week in their respective corners/residences to make it look like they are together. Jeese fans think since they don't see either of them then OMG they must be together so that's easy enough to pull off.

I can also see Jake pissed at Reese at what she's done and what she is and how she treats him [remember crutch pics] and staying away from her this week and as long as he possibly can. And Reese playing the game by staying out of the public eye so she's not papped alone without him, cos you know, people would start to wonder.

Can't remember who said it but yea the Jake fandom has died. IHJ is like a tomb.

Doubt very much Naomi and even more so Maggie and Peter are happy about Reese/Reeke. Stephen's in his own world, I doubt he even noticed or cares.

Theres some news about The Informers, that one of the charaters was cut out of the movie, not Austins, I think it was Brad Routh. People are wondering if the movie will be the same. Cant remember which site had it but I'm sure you can find it in Google.

Happy Birthday Stubborn TB!

The Bad Seed said...

Brad Renfro, not Brad routh. The site that I can't remember [but I think it was Defamer] had Routh, their mistake. It was Renfro's character is a vampire [??] and they cut the character out of the movie [but really because of Renfro's death.]. So now people are wondering if the movie will be box office or not cos the plot is gone. I never read the book so I don't know. Too bad if it's a flop, because the other actors esp Austin deserve the opportunity for a hit.

Happy 21st Birthday, StubbornTB!

Bad Seed, they'll have to hate us both, because as much as I love Austin (today's pics are beauteous, btw) I wouldn't be heartbroken if it were Chris. Chris is very attractive (in a tux in Toronto *sigh*), and I love that sense of domesticity and comfort level you mention. :)

Anonymous said...

the vampire plot line isn't really the main thing in the book, it only just comes in at the end. can't see it really affecting the storyline.

Anonymous said...

austin or chris, even kirsten or lance.. anyone would be better than reese.

The Bad Seed said...

thanks ... . too many brads/brandons! at least I had the first names right and the name of the movie and the vampire part. lol.

whew, glad I'm not the only one who likes the idea of Chris.

book club, even matty mcbongo would be better and a whole lot more fun. :)

Anonymous said...

for some strange reason i quite like matty mcbongo (although i'd probably not pay good money to see one of his films). if it was a toss up between him and reese, jake could do alot better than going with matty, as you say, at least he'd have some fun along the way.

(am i a bad person to really want stop loss to do well at the box office this week.)

Special K said...

Chris will always be the bestest best friend. And deservedly so.

Austin is truly the Big Love. The Goose for the Bird Boy who wears his love on his shirts. Austin's big blue ring and that band a gold is all I need to see. Even without my rose colored glasses I know it.

Anonymous said...

final post (i promise).. i still don't know how anyone could do better than be with Austin. he is, without a doubt, absolutley gorgeous (photographic evidence above). and by all accounts funny, engaging, friendly, quirky and intelligent. basically he's the total package. Jake's an idiot if he's let this guy go. it makes me really sad to think that someone might give this person up for the sake of being a celebrity. it would be such a waste. maybe i'm a foolish romantic, but i still hope that they will somehow work this whole thing out.

Happy Birthday Stubborn. 21yo wow what an old lady you are:-)

It is so nice how important we have all gotten to each other. I hope more and more of us get to meet along the way. It sure would make this very long wait worth it.

I am headed to New Castle tomorrow for the Crab Cake and Sweet potato Fries. Maybe Ryan and Abbie will be at Jessups. I will report any sightings. Of course I much rather see Jake and the Tall Texan.

Wicked is letting Tom travel without her and eat a bunch of fried foods? wow maybe she's not so bad after all.

*Wicked secretly ups Tom's life insurance to the max payout, tells Tom seatbelts are bad, speeding and driving erratic is good and she read a study that said eating huge amounts of greasy foods is healthy*

Tom, have fun, and be careful! ;)

I agree that Austin is - still - the big love and worth fighting for at that. I hope Jake has that priority bumping about somewhere in his brain. I wouldn't want a boyfriend (or friend for that matter) who cared more about his status and income than what me and him shared. I'm waiting for Jake to put a fine point on one or the other.

I'm going to be away for the next week and without computer access so it's adios for now. Hope everyone has a great weekend. :)

I'm going to try to see Stop Loss this weekend too to show my support for Ryan Channing and Abbie. A good friend of mine is in the military and she served in Iraq. She thought they were going to keep them longer than a year but she was released at the last minute. It was pretty stressful for her so i'm sure i'll be able to relate to the story.

Happy B-day Stubborn : )

Just came home.

(((Stubby))), a big, probably belated, happy birthday to you girl. xoxoxo

Love, love, love today's post Special! Reminded me that my copy of JFC is supposed to arrive April 3 "at the latest"... or so I've been promised by you-know-who. ;)

I'll be able to see Stop-Loss next Saturday only but I'm really looking forward to comments by those who will see it this week-end. Tom, I love JGL so any movie with him is a sure sell with me. :)

Austin and Jake are two separate entities for me now, meaning that if I heard from a reliable source that he and Jake have broken up I wouldn't stop being interested in Austin's work and what is happening in his life.

Right now I certainly don't believe Chris is "the" guy but if it turned out that he is, I certainly wouldn't mind either. For all the reasons Netb mentions... yet the image of that Toronto tux inexplicably lingers... ;) :D

Hi, folks. Just came back from seeing "Stop-Loss." It reminded me very much of a combination "The Deer Hunter" and "Coming Home" except instead of dealing with the Vietnam War, we're dealing with the war in Iraq.

This film is really not so much plot-driven (there's very little plot really) but character-driven. It's more concerned with the psychology of the surviving soldier upon returning home--and the devastating effects of warfare on them. It is very powerful. I never realized what a good actor Ryan is. Wow. And who is this Channing Tatum person? He's great! Joseph Gordon-Leavitt is very good in a smaller role as the shellshocked soldier. His striking resemblance to Heath gave his performance an additional jolt for me. As for Abbie, I like her a lot. She has a poise, an unpretentiousness and a wonderful unself-consciousness to her that reminded me of the very young Nicole Kidman (before she ruined her face with botox and became a mannequin). I think Abbie definitely has the chops to be a leading actress of her generation.

The ending just devastated me and that's all I'll say.

Wow, never thought I'd had my wish granted so fast! Thanks for your review Broadwayfan. :* :*

Interesting to see your mentioning of The Deer Hunter, a movie that I found particularly haunting. Character-driven? Love that! And great to know that the actors were all good. :)

Thank you Broadwayfan for your comments on Stop-Loss.

According to Box Office Mojo:

BOX OFFICE DERBY
Average weekend predictions of 357 players:

1. 'Horton Hears a Who' - $18.0 million
2. 'Superhero Movie' - $18.0 million
3. '21' - $16.7 million
4. 'Tyler Perry's Meet the Browns' - $10.5 million
5. 'Run Fat Boy Run' - $6.0 million
6. 'Stop-Loss' - $5.9 million

6th is good don't you think?

There is a review, and below it says "REVIEWS OF SIMILAR MOVIES" and guess what: Jarhead is one of the "similar movies". It makes me think Jake is more connected to Ryan than to Reese :)

Just got back from seeing Stop Loss. It was great. It got me in the first moments and did not let go until the end. Without question Ryan's best performance, and I can see why he is the center of all the promo. It is definitely his film, yet I totally saw him as the character not as Ryan. As much as I love Jake, this movie was much better than Jarhead. I strongly recommend it. Even if box office is below expectations for the weekend, I think it is one of those films that will develop via word of mouth. My husband loved it, he would not even let me play the radio or a dvd on the drive home because he wanted to talk about it. He was in the military but did not have such a strong reaction when he saw Jarhead.

london tb said...

I'll make a point of seeing Stop Loss when it gets here too.

I'm guessing that far from being cut from the film, Brad Renfro will be one of the key selling points for Informers when it's released.
