Full Count (formerly Lenexa, 1 Mile) actor's Jason Wiles directorial debut and homage to growing up in Lenexa, Kansas in the late 80's come out today on DVD. A coming of age story of five friends and their last summer together, hanging out at the Parks and Rec department, playing pick up games, playing softball, drinking beer, find their friendship tested and what they thought they knew challenged.
Full count is the term used when batter is facing the last pitch of his at bat, with a count of 3 balls and 2 strikes. This last pitch will either strike him out(3 strikes), walk him (4 balls) --giving him a base (free pass) or getting a hit.
Wiles went home to film Full Count, with 25 day shoot in Lenexa, Johnson County(surrounding towns Overland Park, Shawnee, Olathe ) and Kansas City (which Lenexa is a suburb) including K in May of 2005. Even then Austin was getting notices even amongst co-stars Jason Ritter, Chris Klein and Billy Baldwin. Tony Ortega in KC's alt weekly The Pitch says... "Nichols impresses us as a young man who's going places. He played a rich, preppy bastard in The Day After Tomorrow and a rich, sporto bastard in Wimbledon. This time he's apparently going slightly against type, playing a proletarian, bar-brawling bastard in Lenexa, One Mile."
With the 80's setting Austin got another chance to rock the Midwest Morrissey look with a little a little Vanilla Ice shaved side, and tight acid washed jeans. So much better than Chris Klein's mullet, but so on target for the Midwest, sadly even today. And the for the "Oops! I forgot my shirt" contract clause, yup it's there.

But “blind items” let gossipmongers have their cake and eat it too. They can heavily imply that Jake has a boyfriend, drawing attention (and page-views) to themselves. But because these items are written in such a vague way, they have a perfect out if someone accuses them of being factually wrong or threatens to sue. The gossipmonger can merrily dance away from what they wrote, saying, “Oh, I wasn’t talking about Jake Gyllenhaal! I meant someone else!”

Haven’t had a chance to visit or post for a while so I’m way behind. Just have to comment on the new photos of Austin – the “crotch” photo (as it’s been so aptly named) is definitely my favorite. Austin gets more and more gorgeous every time I see a new photo of him.
Regarding Ted’s comments from last night: he’s still insinuating that Reeke is fake. Guess that’s about all he can tell us right now. Time will tell.
I'm laughing at all the excuses the babblers are making for the distance between Reeke. The best is that paps pics are worth more when they are together, so she is walking ahead. Yea, right.
Two things I noticed about Ted's comments. He says "he likes to keep 'his' (in italics) presence private." A reference to Austin perhaps? And on the mainpage, the lead in headline is "Blind opened wide" which talks about Death Mint Myrtle but also mentions Jake. A subtle reference to the Toothy BI is Jake? Ted never says anything without a reason.

I don't know where IHJ got the pics or the caption but x17 has bothe Jake and Reese up, seperately and they claim that they attended church services prior to getting coffee. Jake seems to be in a better mood, i wonder why he turned his head away in the video, perhaps he was joking?

Hey Reese, Wait Up!
Over the weekend, Hollywood hunk Jake Gyllenhaal, who reportedly sprained his ankle while shooting some hoops with friends, limped behind Oscar-winning gal-pal Reese Witherspoon as the pair went for their morning coffee in the celeb-friendly 'hood of Brentwood.
According to witnesses, it looks like Jake's injury had taken a turn for the worse as he was using a crutch for support.
And while the actor appears to be getting ample support from his crutch, the same can't be said for Reese, who galloped in front of her man while he struggled to catch up.

Remember how all the Gyllenspooners were lamenting the fact how some people get their info from the X17 captions when the pictures of Jake with the crossword came out and X17 claimed that Jake was reading the newspaper because he wanted to go to a play? I'm the same, wicked, nothing would surprise me. Reeke could wed and Austin and all their mutual friends could be attendance and I'd be thinking, yep, on to the next tent in this three ring circus. I think the moment Reeke debuted, it was the ushering in of Hollywood Theatre, where anything is possible. It's been truly bizarre and not rooted in reality at all. I don't know who Jake is anymore, he's become the "ke" in Reeke.
I want to get the DVD just yell out all the places I know. I have spotted a few from the trailers. Especially old town Lenexa and the trains that always always run through town when you have to be somewhere.
From the trailer the make it look a lot more rural than it is. Then again it was supposed to be set in the 80's so there were still more farms left in Johnson Co. than they have now. Johnson Co. is the epitome of HW target audience. Upper Middle class suburb with every chain restaurant know to man, and more malls than you can imagine.

wicked, my thoughts about the entire thing change weekly, but I'm pretty much convinced this is Reese's play and Jake's merely a player. He's a complete idiot for getting involved in this. I can understand that he might have thought the short-term gains were worth it, but I have to wonder if he really thought about what it would mean for him long-term. One thing's for sure, he's done some terrible acting these last few months. ;)
Accompanying Reese everywhere is one thing, a wedding and a baby is another. You don't blindly follow into the latter, you agree to it. I would turn in my card at that point. I'd follow Jake's films, but not him. To think of him attempting to live authentically on the other side of that would be too unbelievable and sad. I would be shocked to see it come to that, for him to want to do it, but not surprised. He's shown what he's willing to do and it's just a corner of the same cloth, imo.

IMO the church sighting is just another in a long line of efforts to make this look real, especially after the pictures of Jake hobbling a mile behind Reese. I don't think they were anywhere near each other on Sunday.

Very sweet of Ent Lawyer to post this. I was going to post something like it on Easter, but I think I'll post this now and do a reminder then. As a mom of two bunnies, one of whom was a discarded Easter rabbit dumped to "revert back to the wild," I can tell you that you should never make an animal an impulse buy, no matter how cute it is.
It wouldn't surprise me if they got married, nothing would surprise me with these two anymore. However, I'm sure this has been raised before, but what's the obsession with them turing catholic. Surely if Reese wanted to be married as a catholic she would have to have her previous marriage annulled, ie it prove that it never truly existed. Both her children would then be deemed illegitimate in the eyes of the church. Okay, no big deal, but abit unfair on the kids. she can hardly say the annulment is on grounds of non-consumation can she.
Also, even Jake in his most 'I don't want to be gay' mode would surely have to take exception at old Ratzinger's view on homosexuality, wouldn't he?

Sorry to bore on, but wouldn't getting married over the Easter weekend be the most distasteful thing possible. Surely Easter is a time to consider things other than's oneself and to concentrate on others, not personal issues.

One person's conclusive proof is another person's crap.
I had to read through that thread at WFT with Sarah's conclusive proof. I had no idea then what it was. Now that I know, I really can't figure out why she didn't just say. All that- "You'll have to trust me" bullshit. This is why I don't trust insiders or anybody whose credibility can't be vouched for.

I don't think any church allows wedings on Easter weekend, Good Fridya, Holy Saturday and Easter Sunday are days with services going on, marking the remembereance. No weddings are performed.

And where did the Reeke going to the chapel come in? X17. Methinks it mighta been a play on words, going to hear a 'private sermon' at a 'chapel'. Altho it would be funny if X17 knew for a fact it really was a PR meeting where Reeke got blasted for the latest 'Reese Wait Up' pics.! :D But most likely it was just a X17 writer, trying to stir up hits to their site.
That X17 video of Reeke getting coffee (but not shown together) on Sunday am is from 2 different places. The big clue is look at the shadows both J & R make. Even if they were at the same place and if Jake left out the back and crossed the street the shadows don't make sense. They go in different directions (even taking into consideration the back-door theory - I worked it out, I'm not obssessed) and the shadow lengths are different, which means differnt times of day. Jake's shadow is longer, it is forward. Reese's shadow is shorter and directly to the left. Even if the shadows were the same length it still doesnt make sense considering the directions and the relationship to the streets and the building.
Btw Jake is favoring his left foot in the vid. Gotta give him credit for that. I don't think it's a fake injury.

Sneaky, good for you! Another thang, getting a good mother/father/parent for your children doesnt mean you're hetero or you're gonna have sex with them or marry them. 4) Glad to hear Abbie Cornish is great in Elizabeth Wicked. The only movie I saw her in is Candy and she did a superb, superb job. Buy, rent or netflix that film. It's a must IMO.
5) I loved Truly, Madly, Deeply too Special. I first saw that movie because of Alan Rickman. I remember him coming back from the dead to tell his GF a beautiful poem in Spanish (or was it Italian?) and his GF exclaiming "your accent is terrible!". I think in terms of ghosts he was as good as Patrick Swayze.
I loved The English Patient and Ripley too; both movies with sublime scores by Gabriel Yared.

Spesh - I don't know if you're familiar with catholic tradition, but I attended a big Italian wedding at a big Italian catholic church years ago during this time of year - I remember all the statues in the church were covered. In purple I believe.
It could have been Palm Sunday. Not sure. Are all the statues inside a church covered up on Palm Sunday?
During Lent objects/statues/altars/pulpits maybe draped in purple the liturgical color for Lent.
Usually it is Maundy Thursday services or Good Friday when crosses and crucifixes are completely covered usually in black cloth. Only to be revealed on Easter morning.

Alan Rickman is a god! I loved Truly, Madly, Deeply and The Talented Mr. Ripley. Hated The English Patient. I saw it with a friend who fell asleep and I was so jealous of her! That is so sad about Anthony Minghella. Apparently it was a hemorrhage during routine surgery.

Just Jared also showing some new pics that they call "running errands together" but it's clear that J & R are not in the same place at all. They even list the different locations where the photos were taken. So I guess it generates web traffic to link them. Poor Jake, lost in the shadows.

Special, I saw only the ending of the English Patient [on cable TV] and don't want to see the whole movie, the last 15 minutes was enough and told me the story anyway. :D

Where did this Reese/Catholic rumor come from? She's not as far as I know. Episcopalian, or Catholic Light.
And if she were Catholic, she wouldn't be able to re-marry in the Church anyway, being divorced and all. Not to mention Jake's religious affliation being less than Gentile.

Sorry guys, I loooooved The English Patient, I was and still am a big fan of Ralph Fiennes. The cinematography in the desert was unforgettable. And I also agree, Gabriel Yared's score to those movies was beautiful, Cold Mountain too. I'm also a fan of Ciaran Hinds; loved him in lots of films. I happened to see the previews for Stop-Loss and it looks pretty good.
Those wouldn't be grey geese on Jake's shirt now, would they? ;)

in the JJ pics, is Reese trying to look like she's pregnant and hiding it? what a wierd outfit combo to wear. like it was put together intentionally to make her look pregnant, with the big white skirt thing, the horizontal stripes in the shirt. then the one buttoned sweater/jacket that's too small and the big scarf to make it look like she's covering her belly up. and she's smiling?
