Grooming for an End

So the big news is OTH was renewed for another season.

This is the description of Season 8:

"The new season finds Brooke Davis happier than ever. Recently engaged to Julian, her wedding will be the captivating affair one might expect from a young, beautiful, successful fashion designer. As Nathan Scott prepares for his second season in the NBA, the Scott family is expecting their second child and Haley feels as though the baby will be a girl. How will she balance her pregnancy while raising Jamie and pursuing her music career? Also, Quinn and Clay's lives hang in the balance, the victims of a brutal attack which affects all of their friends and family. Season eight of ONE TREE HILL will explore the delicate balance that contemporary twenty-somethings face as they endeavor to build and define what their lives will be, while overcoming difficulties and embracing the good things that they sometimes take for granted, shrouded in the pursuit of someday. It will be a celebration of the most important things, among them the quest for love, laughter, health, friends, career and family: timeless pursuits that have always mattered, and matter now, in a place called Tree Hill."

Does this mean there will it be 13 or 22 episodes of Brooke being a Bridezilla and Julian running for cover and learning non-compliance is futile. He can not have a powered blue tux with a ruffled shirt.

But there has to be more than that for dear Julian. He has to have something do to for 13 or 22 weeks.

So here's The Top Ten List Ideas for Julian for Season 8

10. Having to promote Seven Dreams til Tuesday starts on a worldwide media blitz. And shameless putting real talk show hosts in the show. Gossip begins to spin about Alex comforting him after a disastrous night on Letterman.

9. Seeing opportunity in this engagement pitches a show to co-produce with Ryan Seacrest called Brooke Davis'(TM) Bride's Way, a chronicle in the life a fashion success getting ready for marriage. Of course him as producer leads to all kinds of up and downs as a bride and groom.

8. Lives a lifelong dream of stand up comedy and starts out doing a improv routine with Jamie.

7. Victoria decides that she has to do some baking herself and starts to pursue Julian who has to dissuade her advances and comedy ensues.

6. Julian becomes a Bridezilla himself, and takes over the whole wedding. "I want a film theme wedding, every table named after a classic romantic movie" Start calling Brooke Isla for the duration of the show.

5. Devotes himself to tracking down Katie who has fled after shooting Quinn and Clay. Vows he won't stop until he finds her. Stand off like The Fugitive as he tries to talk Katie in giving up but has to jump after her as she jumps into the waterfall.

4. Realizes he's a trophy wife. Spends the entire season shirtless and by the pool working a good base tan and drinking sangria at Haley and Nathan's. Shows up when summons at Bride Central.

3. Gets hit in the head by a wayward boom on set and believes he is now famed filmmaker Federico Fellini. Caught trying to film the pivot fountain scene of La Dolce Vita in Tree Hill Square.

2. Realizes there is worldwide environmental catastrophe going to happen, and his alter ego J.D. reveals itself and he sends out an Action Team alert out and long lost Sam shows up at his door in Tree Hill.Uhhh not the Sam I was looking for.

and the number 1 thing Julian does for Season 8

1. Downloads old JFC scripts and starts doing some quality stuff instead of the week's script.

What's your ideas for Julian.

Hi Jack. See you're back.

If you look closely, no one attached a value judgment to the family choices that have been made over the past few years.

If you love the idea or support someone's decisions then I presume that you have a good opinion of the idea or the person, or in this case, that you think BT family is good idea and worth supporting.
Is this a fair assumption?

Cute, cute, cute. I am still way behind on all the Jake news. Too busy at work at the moment.

ONTD had an ask Jake a question post. I wonder how many of these type Disney has to wade through.

"WHY WON'T U COME OUT?" "Wondering what qualities he looks for in a woman? A DICK" "what are your thoughts on anal hair management?" "Are you a top or bottom?"

Julian realizes he’s gay when the gorgeously flirtatious wedding consultant, Nick Lambert, arrives (guest appearance by Jake Gyllenhaal) to plan the special day. After spontaneous combustion occurs, the two men eventually elope and move to the French Riviera where Austin pursues his filmmaking dreams and is eventually awarded the Palme d'Or at the Cannes Film Festival for his groundbreaking film about an A-list leading man secretly raising a family in the homophobic, cutthroat jungle of Hollywood. Nick follows his dream as well by becoming a world famous fashion designer for high fashioned pets. Atticus Gyllenhaal makes a cameo appearance in the final episode. Oh, yeah. And, they live happily ever after.

Shouldn't "family" man be at home afer long promotion tour?

Puhleeeze! Jake lives in Los Angeles and he has to go to a hotel pool for some bare chested sun bathing. Got of give him credit. He's really trying to promote this film anyway he can.

prairiegirl said...

Huh. That's not the same lady he was helping out at the hotel, is it? Because Jake has on big ol' honkin' black shorts in the pictures yesterday, same as what he's wearing at the pool.

And I don't know about the lady friend but in yesterday's pictures, she looks like she has something like a tank top or something under her white shirt. I don't know if she's as dark haired as the lady at the pool but I was just wondering. I'm supposed to be working but lol....well, I'm cheating a bit.

LOL - and why on earth does he have the white towel wrapped around his mid-body? What is up with that? LOLLLL. Jake, you're going to get a line at the knees, you don't want that.

He does that sometimes, doesn't he? Wraps the towel around himself when he's swimming. That's kind of funny.

The whole thing is funny. He lives in southern Cal but goes to a hotel to sunbathe. Which he could use some sun on his legs, I will say that.

lol. Maybe BT had swimming classes!!

Oops, no, that would be at the Y, not a Marriott. think, pg, think!

Crazy morning at work, and lots to catch up on.

First, can a big AWWWWWW for Bomer and who I presume is Simon's older child. When I saw the Shrek premiere pictures I idly wondered if he'd brough any children with him.

Question is if he loves them so much why does he let HW keep them in the closet. Who does he love more HW or his family.

Exactly Tom. Also agree with the numerous posts on the other thread about how wrong it is to hide your child in the closet, and that it contradicts what Jake is saying.

What I see in those statements is
(1) family-friendly talk for a family movie, that will probably turn into single man getting his freak on for LAOD, and (2) possibly a deeply closeted man who is sadly beginning to find peace with the fact that he has sold his soul and his hiding his own child in order to be a big A-list star of a franchise. And if it is successful, that means what, five years more of this, at least. BT will be in the second or third grade by then.

Also don't get the comment about Jake being like Clay and Ricky. They NEVER hid their children. Neither have the countless other rumoured to be gay men who have children. Not that I think it is right to have marriages ala Will Smith and Hugh Jackman, but at least they are doing right by their children, who don't need to know their parents may not have a sexual relationship.

destiny said...

Those photos by the pool reminds me of the ones with Kiki by the pool when he was trying to prove how straight he was right after Ted ran with the story about Toothy being busted in the parking lot for public sex.

destiny said...

Bomer is exhbit A for why this is all about Jake, and not about Austin.

Television is full of actors who are either out, or rumoured to be gay and not playing the bearding game.

Half the cast of Big Bang Theory is rumoured to be gay--Galecki told Whoopi this week when asked about rumors about him that he didn't need to say anything because there was nothing wrong with being gay, and hence nothing to defined.

Quinto never bearded, ditto Lee Pace when he was on Pushing Daisies.

Anderson Cooper.

NPH, Barrowman, Jane Lynch, the guy from Glee (forgotten his name) Portia de Rossi, Wanda Sykes, Anna Pacquin, Michael Urie, Luke McFarland, Jesse from Modern Family, and that's just off the top of my head.

Yes, we have the CW, which is bearding and showmance central, but hte laugh is on them, because the average ratings for that network has plunged from 3 million to 2.4 million in the past year, while USA is at over 3.5 million.

Bearding is for losers and people insecure about their talents and ability to make it.

M and M said...

Bearding is for losers and people insecure about their talents and ability to make it.

Hey, Destiny. Do you think that Jake is insecure about his abilities to make it in the business as an openly gay leading man "movie stah" (as Ted would say), or just because he's insecure about his skills as a performer?

destiny said...

I'd say both. I think in the past he had problems with being typecast, before Jarhead, which I think he hoped would change that, and it didn't do well enough to have that effect, I think.

M and M said...

I must admit, I use to notice a strong element of insecurity in Jake, but not so much these past few weeks. There's little doubt that he spent an awful lot of time, especially in his early and mid-twenties, trying much too hard to please everyone, but himself. He's certainly responsible for his own choices, but I think the folks around him were more interested in their 10% cut than they were about anticipating how living in the closet might change him and even limit his future choices to live his life out in the open. Still, I see some positive changes that I hope he will be able to build upon. When he said, “No matter what happened to my career, if all of this went away tomorrow, my family would still be here and that’s all that matters,” I'm wondering if he's accepting that the house of cards may come tumbling down any day, and that would be okay with him.

sorry said...

Also don't get the comment about Jake being like Clay and Ricky.

I wanted to say that Clay, Ricky and Jake are good people, so that is one of the reasons I don't believe Jake would hide BT.

Video: Jake Gyllenhaal's Shirtless Tease at PopSugar's Screening

M and M, i also think Jake's people messed up by advising him$ to hopld out for more $oney (and probably only certain roles) after BBM. Then his "it" moment disappeared. Pure speculation on my part, but I am betting his management told him it was because of the "gay". Then POP became a possibity, and he went all out with the bearding.

He was also any age where there are fewer roles for men, and a lot of competition.

I think some of the confidence comes from. Doping a big movie followed by two other good roles.

I am betting his people are nopw telling themsves iot was all due to "straightening" him out.

Meanwhile he hides his own child. And yes, i think even good people are corrupted by the lure of fame money poweer and sex. See it over and over again in HW, politics, business...

Out all day with my best friend. Always fun.

At the mall there is a Lego store and snuck a peek in there. And they had there own little Plexiglass display of the PoP Legos. And something not many know. There is a shirtless Dastan Lego, who still has the swords on his back in one of the playsets. Provocative Lego, trying to sneak a shirtless Lego in.

I wonder if the shots of the pool were the same day he was using the hotel on Wed. and decided to take advantage of the pool for little bit. Remember Austin said he used to sneak into hotels and use pool/jacuzzi? Yeah not sure what the deal is about the towel over the trunks thing he does.

Jake was on TMZ tonight about the screening for PoPSugar and the shirt thing. TMZ reported that ladies were yelling for him to take his shirt off compared it to a bachelorette party,

Remember him teasing about taking off his shirt when he was on Ellen's 400th show and was unbuttoning his shirt and slipping his shoulder out after the shirtless pictures from Jarhead came out? Old schtick.

And now that there have been countless mentions of his body and how good shape he got in for PoP, you knew the schtick was coming out again.

And hey anyone from Europe got a chance to see PoP since is out there for a lot of you? Love to hear your impressions.

This from the SF Gate:

...Wondercon, the last person you would expect to find in the fray is a serious Hollywood actor like Jake Gyllenhaal.

Yet here he is, the star of solemn dramas such as "Donnie Darko" and "Brokeback Mountain," in one of the back conference rooms of the Moscone Center looking oddly inconspicuous in a black sweatshirt and blue jeans and feeling a little frustrated that his handlers won't let him out to mingle with the thousands of costumed revelers on the floor.

"I've always heard about these events, and I've always wondered what they were like," the 29-year-old Los Angeles native says, sipping a cup of green tea. "This feels like home. This is what it was like every Sunday at the Gyllenhaal house."

.....

He just really, really wanted a role like Prince Dastan, and his enthusiasm extends beyond the usual promo hustle.

"I don't ostracize myself from the rest of the world in terms of how much I'm entertained by large-scale movies and how much I love them," he says. "So I thought, you know, I got a lot of attention from the other roles I played. It gave me the opportunity to look around."

.....

As he gets ready to face the Wondercon masses, Gyllenhaal briefly considers his surroundings. Does he, for a minute, worry that nobody is ready to buy the man who played "Donnie Darko" and the gay cowboy as an epic action-adventure hero?

"Of course, yeah," he says, rubbing his scruffy chin. "But you've got to trust your instincts. Lives and careers are made out of great successes and great failures and taking risks. I feel like, if you try to sit there listening to what everybody thinks you should do and you're not listening to your own heart, then you're bound not to be living life. So I just went, 'I'm going to go for it.'

SF GATE

Think it is interesting mention that he is frustrated that his handlers would let him out to go mingle.

It sure does seem weird that Jake was sitting at the pool. Maybe he was there for and interview and something got held up so he just decided to sit out for a while. Or maybe he needed to work on his tan for TV.

I wonder if Jake gets the irony of that statement? Yes, it's very interesting about the handlers not allowing Jake to mingle. Let's face it, allowing yourself to be handled and trying to follow your own heart and instincts, are probably not compatible forces.

Thanks, Destiny, for sharing your thoughts about Jake's insecurity. Just wanted to know what your perspective was. Appreciate it.

I watched PoP earlier today with my sister and her friend.

Spoilers just in case:

The beginning started out a little slow, but once the story started to unfold, it became really interesting.
It's a typical action movie with a lot of slow motion action scenes.

The parkour is just simply amazing and the scenery really helps getting into the atmosphere of the movie.
The jokes got somewhat lost in the dubbing unfortunately because the timing was just wrong a lot of times. There were scenes that were just not even remotely as funny in German (add an "Unfunny Germans" joke here) as they were in English. But the movie still got a lot of laughs in the cinema, especially in Alfred Molinas scenes. My sisters friend was still cracking up about his scenes and about the ostriches way after we had left the movie.
Jake and Gemma didn't have off-the-charts chemistry, but they worked as a couple in a love/hate relationship. Kinda strange when you consider how much they seemed to click while promoting PoP.

There is a real twist ending and I have to admit I didn't see that coming even with what the movie is about. It's a really good one though and it does tie it off nicely while still leaving room for a sequel.

One thing that made me smile on the inside was my sisters friends reaction to the Dastan/Tamina kiss. They moved in and finally kiss and she goes: "Uuuuugly!"
Appearantly because Gemma pursed her upper lip too much and it looked like a fish, but in context of Jake just having so much chemistry with his male co-stars (in PoP and in general) it just kinda fits.

Jake shows off his abs quite fairly for a family movie, but what really amazed me was one scene at the end where you could literally see his upper arm muscles bulging over the straps he had wrapped around it. I just sat there thinking "Damn!".

One thing that went through my head throughout the whole movie was that Jake and Gemma are just so damn pretty! The others weren't ugly, but even with the beard Jake just has such delicate features and Gemma, well she's gorgeous. I think it's Jake's nose that does it for him, so regardless of nature or a plastic surgeon, someone did a really great job on it ;)

If they do another part (and I think the movie is blockbuster enough to warrant it) I really hope they're going to bring most of them back for it, especially Alfred Molina. After the movie is over I know who they won't bring back and I'm kinda sad about that, but I guess it would be boring to have everybody live.

m said...

It looks like Jake stayed at the hotel to relax since he had the popsugar movie screening that same evening. I think that woman was his publicist. I also think the abs are not six pack caliber at present so the towel helped block the view.

The reviews are very mixed so far. Fingers crossed for Jake's sake that the box office is good.

Special K said...

Stubborn great to hear that you liked the movie thanks for giving your impressions and that you think there will be another PoP.

Jake shows off his abs quite fairly for a family movie Ha! Guess he took advantage of that PG-13 rating.

Have read a lot about how much fun the scenes with Molina are.

Will have keep my eyes out for those bulging muscles.

Jake was on Radio Disney and video of him in the booth. He is having a good time just talking, totally relaxed.

It does look like the clothes on the hanger going into the hotel could be the outfit he was using for alot of the PR he was doing, and that Radio Disney, PoPSugar and Kimmel could have been all scheduled on the same day.

Jake Radio Disney Parkour Stunts
Jake's expression as a listener calls in with a question is the best.

Jake Radio Disney Acting with Ostriches
Talking about stunts and Ostrich kissing.

Jake Radio Disney Basketball
How he would want to be 7'6" and play pro basketball

Jake Radio Disney Learning to be a Radio Disney DJ
Hmmmm why does Jake recognizes The Wiggles? Think they get played alot at his house? Betcha they do.

Thank IHJ for putting them up, they're just too cute.

prairiegirl said...

Oh man, those are (excuse me, guys!) tooo cuuuute!!

For cryin' out loud. That's a crime, that's all there is to it.

Listen to him giggle. What a giggle he has, LOL.

He did recognize the Wiggles, didn't he, Special? Hmmmmm...only mommies & daddy's know who the Wiggles are, I am sorry. And aunts who have no choice but to watch Disney TV or Nickelodean when staying with their nieces and nephews. During their toddler years, I knew alllll about Oswald, Dora, Blues Clues. All really cute shows. I loved Oswald. lol. Because when there are little ones in the house, the TV no longer belongs to the adults. It's on Nick or Disney, depending on what's appropriate for their age.

That was an absolute hoot. I watched that last one several times. That was priceless.

Interesting how he went on about always wanting to be tall.

He seems so relaxed & happy here. Curious.

My niece & nephew listen to RadioDisney all the time on their way to school. When they have come up here, if the radio is on, they want it on RadioDisney. It's only on AM, though, so I'm not a real fan of that, lol.

Well, up late writing. Things are moving along very well. Time to hit the hay.

You guys need to watch these videos. They're too much.

prairiegirl said...

My brother did ban Barney from the house, though, when the kids were little. He absolutely would have not have it. And he wasn't a fan of Teletubbies either but the kids did watch them sometimes.

My brother is nuts. He can't stand Martha Stewart either, but behind his back, his wife & us girls love Martha and I have sneaked old Martha Stewart Living magazines as contraband into the house to her. lol.
