Ring a Ding

"Sometimes everything needs a little bit bit of a break, even your hair." - Jake on the BBC

And what better way to do that on a Monday but break a off a piece of this?
Mmmmm. That's what I'm saying.

The hair the scruff and for some the glasses .... all working.

Now every once in a while Austin sneaks things into OTH from his real life, just little hints where his heart truly is.
Like this from last year. (check out that sweater)

And see that it's close to getting plug pulled he snuck another one in for the finale.
Who said he doesn't bring his own to the screen.

And now one on point too? Between the two there enough for rings on every finger.

Tonight on the Crazy Tree.

Nathan struggles to reach the increasingly despondent Real Housewife of Tree Hill, while sis Quick Shot Quinn leads "How old is this kid this episode" Jamie on a Tree Hill treasure hunt or maybe just a list of audition for new jobs. Julian shows his finished film to Brooke Davis (TM) who will just point out how great her designs look on screen while trying to seduce Julian one more time. (Is it that she fears he's more interested what his lead actors are doing and don't mean Alex?) Feats of Clay is forced to deal with the crazy head on, with Katie "I'm the Doppelganger for your dead wife". And some how so lickity split Julian will get that quick the film edited but accepted at a film festival. Road trip to Utah.

Oh Brooke Davis (TM) you think you can work a red carpet. But can you work like this?

Ohhh snap!

Video of Gemma

"I was quite nervous meeting him," Arterton said of Gyllenhaal, adding that she admires his acting. "I really hoped the chemistry would be there."

Arterton, who plays princess Tamina in the film, says she worked out six days a week and endured a horse back riding boot camp for her role in the film, but called the experience "satisfying." As for Gyllenhaal's body in the movie, she tells ET it was like "hugging a pillar."

"It's amazing, really. He was in such amazing shape and worked very, very hard at it," Arterton says of her sexy costar. "It's like a piece of art."

Kristen Chenowith's letter to Newsweek.

“As a longtime fan of Newsweek and as the actress currently starring opposite the incredibly talented (and sexy!) Sean Hayes in the Broadway revival of Promises, Promises, I was shocked on many levels to see Newsweek publishing Ramin Setoodeh’s horrendously homophobic “Straight Jacket,” which argues that gay actors are simply unfit to play straight. From where I stand, on stage, with Hayes, every night — I’ve observed nothing “wooden” or “weird” in his performance, nor have I noticed the seemingly unwieldy presence of a “pink elephant” in the Broadway Theater. (The Drama League, Outer Critics Circle and Tony members must have also missed that large animal when nominating Hayes’ performance for its highest honors this year.)

“I’d normally keep silent on such matters and write such small-minded viewpoints off as perhaps a blip in common sense. But the offense I take to this article, and your decision to publish it, is not really even related to my profession or my work with Hayes or Jonathan Groff (also singled out in the article as too “queeny” to play “straight.”)

“This article offends me because I am a human being, a woman and a Christian. For example, there was a time when Jewish actors had to change their names because anti-Semites thought no Jew could convincingly play Gentile. Setoodeh even goes so far as to justify his knee-jerk homophobic reaction to gay actors by accepting and endorsing that “as viewers, we are molded by a society obsessed with dissecting sexuality, starting with the locker room torture in junior high school.” Really? We want to maintain and proliferate the same kind of bullying that makes children cry and in some recent cases have even taken their own lives? That’s so sad, Newsweek! The examples he provides (what scientists call ’selection bias’) to prove his ‘gays can’t play straight’ hypothesis are sloppy in my opinion. Come on now!

“Openly gay Groff is too ‘queeny’ to play Lea Michele’s boyfriend in Glee, but is a ‘heartthrob’ when he does it in Spring Awakening? Cynthia Nixon only “got away with it” ’cause she peaked before coming out? I don’t know if you’ve missed the giant Sex and the City movie posters, but it seems most of America is ‘buying it.’ I could go on, but I assume these will be taken care of in your ‘Corrections’ this week.

“Similarly, thousands of people have traveled from all over the world to enjoy Hayes’ performance and don’t seem to have one single issue with his sexuality! They have no problem buying him as a love-torn heterosexual man. Audiences aren’t giving a darn about who a person is sleeping with or his personal life. Give me a break! We’re actors first, whether we’re playing prostitutes, baseball players, or the Lion King. Audiences come to theater to go on a journey. It’s a character and it’s called acting, and I’d put Hayes and his brilliance up there with some of the greatest actors period.

“Lastly, as someone who’s been proudly advocating for equal rights and supporting GLBT causes for as long as I can remember, I know how much it means to young people struggling with their sexuality to see out & proud actors like Sean Hayes, Jonathan Groff, Neil Patrick Harris and Cynthia Nixon succeeding in their work without having to keep their sexuality a secret. No one needs to see a bigoted, factually inaccurate article that tells people who deviate from heterosexual norms that they can’t be open about who they are and still achieve their dreams. I am told on good authority that Mr. Setoodeh is a gay man himself and I would hope, as the author of this article, he would at least understand that. I encourage Newsweek to embrace stories which promote acceptance, love, unity and singing and dancing for all!”

Well said Ms. Chenoweth, well said.

Wow. Hugging a pillar. lol. That's awesome. Way to go, Gemma. I liked her.

Hey, I think Jake's supposed to be on ET Tonight because Mary Hart said something about it on Friday, I think.

And I'm pretty sure I saw Samantha Harris in the background of the red carpet.

Just a slight programming note.

Back to work. I have returned to my writing and am deep in the throes of what was to be a Postcard one-shot but looks now to be turning into a short multi-chapter ditty. lol. I just told a reader who emailed me requesting more, that I should've known I could never do a one-shot. Gosh, I missed writing.

Hey, that looks like a really good editorial letter, Special. I'll look forward to reading it when I get home.

I thought Jake owned that red carpet yesterday! I'll have to watch ET tonight.:)

Not loving the beard on Austin. It looks good in the long-shot, but up close it doesn't work too well.

Love that Austin and Jake put little things in their projects like they are little notes to each other. Initials, or rings, and now from one of Jake's interview know that there are things on his costume for PoP that have special meaning but not a part of the story, but important very personal reason.

Not they are not the first of the last to do something that. On the Green Monster in Fenway Park, you can see dot and dashes in the white lines of the scoreboard, it is Morse Code initials of late Thomas and his wife the late Jean Yawkey who were owners of the Red Sox.

Jake and Austin can look back and see those little things that they did and those moments in their lives, a virtual scrapbook and something they can share with their family.

LOL! That boy sure is working it on that red carpet, isn't he? Hmm. I wonder why Madonna's song "Vogue" is going through my head right now?

All that's missing are those sexy heels that Austin likes so much.

"Beauty's where you find it. Not just where you bump and grind it." Go with the flow, honey! I know I'm buying what he's selling. Bet it ain't cheap, either.

The picture of Jake on the red carpet. That is such a classic kind of pose on foot behind the other then turn at the waist, creates an angle that narrows his already pretty narrow hips even more. That lean back on top makes it totally editorial. ; )

You're right Special, that angle is what models and actresses do to create an even leaner appearance. As if.

With that smoldering stare, I'm trully surprised the cameraman was able to get a picture that wasn't all fuzzy:

"Do you like what you see?" Oh, yeah, baby!

Okay, I got the shallow out of my system for this evening. Now, back to what really matters.

I agree, Tom. That was a beautiful, eloquent statement by Ms. Chenowith. Well developed and spot on perfect. Exactly what needed to be said. Three cheers to you, milady!

That part is the very best part M and M. So important.

Jake Gyllenhaal to Play Footballer Joe Namath said...

Jake Gyllenhaal shared about the workout regime he kept for her upcoming actioner, Persia of Persia: Sands of Time?

“It was intense,” the 29-year-old actor told Extra. “What I did was ride a camel in L.A. and rode it around for15 hours a day, and I’d eat twigs and berries and any kind of fibrous material, and drink water from the sewers. With that, [I got into shape] very quickly (laughs).”

Jake is also trying to play football star Joe Namath in an upcoming movie.

“I would love to play Joe Namath,” Jake admitted. “I’ve been working on it for a long time, trying to develop that story. We got to get it right, got to get the extraordinary story perfect if we’re going to do it. But it would be a dream to play him.”

As for being single, Jake says, “Would it be strange if I said no, I’m not looking? Yes, I’m looking. I have two eyes.”

Just Jared

Special K said...

As for being single, Jake says, “Would it be strange if I said no, I’m not looking? Yes, I’m looking. I have two eyes.”

Again Jake did not answer the question. See all the wiggle room in that answer. He didn't say yes or no, he just asked a question back. He states the obvious have too eyes, but he really doesn't say what he is looking at does he? Or that he is single.

It is all about the semantics. And he knows that and uses it like he's teaching a masterclass.

prairiegirl said...

Yeah, his first question is odd. "Would it be strange if I said no, I'm not looking?"

Looking at "Yes, I'm looking. I have two eyes," what should have preceded that is "Wouldn't it be strange if I said no..."
I noticed that too, Special. He leaves it open as to what he chooses to look at.

His question doesn't match the answer that follows, lol.

The guy is strange.

He looked great on ET Tonight. I'll say this. After this whole tour is over, it's going to take Austin to likely knock him down a peg or two, get that noggin back to its regularly large size. Just keep him in check and keep him real. That pose on the red carpet is unbelievable, lol. He thinks he's the cat's meow, doesn't he? lol. Goes hand in hand with that Green Room picture with Adam.

Ah Jakey, keep your head on during this tour.

And someone was ramming it up this weekend, too, trying to steal a tiny bit of thunder from Jake's big splash. Rolling out the big guns. Check out who was pimping herself & her beau out at someone else's wedding. She's shameless.

M and M said...

Yes, Jake is a master at evading questions, especially personal ones. Although I will give him credit this time. He really did answer the question with the very first eleven words. "Would it be strange if I said no, I'm not looking?"

Of course, Jake knew he would never be allowed to get away with that kind of provocative answer without a lot of awkward, probative follow-up questions, and PR ripping out his throat. So he added the rest to give people what they wanted to hear.

Still, if one was really paying attention, Jake just admitted he was not looking at all. "Strange" as that concept might seem to others.

Special K said...

You are right M&M he did answer it - my bad. But it was posed back at the interviewer/reader in such weird way to decipher it. Points to Mr.G.

Stranger would be a married man saying he was looking. The "alien invasion" would be in full force on that phone.

M and M said...

The "alien invasion" would be in full force on that phone.

LOL. For sure, Special. He would've had to mute that ring tone, wouldn't he?

Just to start trouble, don't you find it interesting that no one has asked about Isabel "Who" Lucas? Gee, I thought once she "met" Jake's mom in a month ago in Montreal that it was wedding bell city!

Uh-oh. I think that alien invasion ring tone is going off again. *wink*

Suit up!

Austin's suit
Got to say this is one of his best suits. It's a real keeper.

Jake's Ferragamo made-to-measure 3-piece suit has got to be in the $10,000(Prada)- $20,000(Armani)range.

Florida Tom said...

Spesh I have read that letter five time already. It is awesome and wonderful that you posted it. It has lifted my spirits that wonderful people like Kristen speak up. Again thanks for posting it.

Florida Tom said...

I dont think Jake lied with either answer. He said no I am not looking which is true in his private life and then he said yes I am looking which the the image he wants to present as the available HW star in his professional life.. Both Jake and Austin have two lives a private life and a professional life.

Florida Tom said...

Austin has never looked better than the day he wore the suit on the grounds where he was filming OTH. He looked awesome that day.

destiny said...

Another idea with the looking...of course he looks at people, but that doesn't mean he does anything else.

I want that Chenowith statement to flood the internet. I want references to be made to it everytime we get one of those stupid gay's can't get work in HW articles.

I saw Promises Promises, Sean Hayes did just fine, and I wasn't expecting to like him. Oddly if anyone wasn't right for the role it was Chenowith.

I wonder if the studio pays for the clothes for a premiere, or cuts deals with the designers. And if so, does Jake get to keep it, or is it a loan?

Cirrus said...

Love the suits, Spesh! :) I missed ET, but watched it online when I got home. Jake was in fine form. :)

prairiegirl said...

On Entertainment Tonight when Jake was talking to oh what's her name, former DWTS oh yeah, Samantha Harris, there was a flash of gold on his left hand but it was so fast, I couldn't see which finger it was on.

That's incredible that a suit would cost that much. Is the cost related to the materials? Or is it because of the designer?

Well, I've been writing a little but mostly spending the last hour, hour & a half searching the internet for perfect NYC apt/loft pictures. Who knows how long this little ditty's going to go. I'm ecstatically back into creating another little world.

Special K said...

Jake's suit is custom, made just for him, so it would be a keeper. Made to measure means he gets to pick every detail or even add a little thing or two to the suit. From buttons, buttonholes, the lining of the jacket, the vest anything, he could have extra pockets inside his jacket or in his vest. He could also have any thing embroidered inside the jacket or his vest, from his name or his initials or someone else's if he wanted.

It is a combination of the quality of the fabric, the construction, the fit, the craftmanship and yes the designer, that you are paying for.

He's not fooling anyone is he.

So happy to hear today's music selection. I've many memories of Lena Horne. She was so beautiful. Stunning.

Glad to hear you are writing PG. There is so little new slash lately it's scary.

I've noticed Jake's constant use of humor to deflect questions. Right now he is trying to be amusing to generate interest in POP, but he seems to do it almost all of the time. A defense mechanism that has become instinctual as he must stay on guard all the time.

Special K said...

Is it just me or when you see Julian and anyone else but Brooke scenes on OTH there seems to be more energy than anything with Julian and Brooke? And trying to do this kinder gentler Brooke now who doesn't treat Julian as the boytoy she did at the beginning of the season, comes off even more disingenuous and condensing than when he was basically the "bit of stuff" she liked to use when she got home from work.

Jake said "Yes I am single" before he made that strange statement.

prairiegirl said...

I think he also went through the whole single & looking routine when he was on Ellen while Reeke was going on.

Part of his public & professional persona. What's he going to say on worldwide television?

"I'm married and I have a child. So, sorry ladies."

prairiegirl said...

Actually, I should look back when I refer to Reeke because it doesn't even seem possible to me that filming of PoP actually took place two years ago. Time flies, doesn't it?

When Jake was on Ellen, I think that was prior to Reeke in Rome so I might be wrong on that prior comment of mine as far as the timing.

Regardless, while he does appear to be a master of deflection and evasion, I'm glad that's not me. While one can be laughing on the outside, can you imagine taking one last look in the mirror while straightening the tie & taking a deep breath before stepping outside of that door, every day the rest of this month knowing that someone apparently is going to be asking "Are you single? Any lady on the horizon? Are you dating?" and thinking what original answer you're going to need to quip up. Every day, every public appearance.

And actually if Jake's prior sentence was "Yes, I am single" that would seem to indicate to me that the question to that was "Are you single?"

What an odd question to be asking to begin with. Because it's widely known now that he's split with Reese. Some of these interviewers out there have to know of buzz on the internet. Are they asking that question with an ulterior motive?

Like I said, glad it's not me. That's the kind of inner anxiety that could require a stock up of Alka-Seltzer.

prairiegirl said...

On the other hand, LOLLLL, I can't believe he said he ate twigs and berries. That's classic.

And here I thought it was a reference to the Disciple John, who ate locusts and wore a coat of animal hair.

What he does get away with, huh?
Thank goodness for people like Urban Dictionary because some of that stuff just goes over my head and I would've simply shaken my head and thought the guy was weird. He's smarter than he comes across.

And no, I really didn't think it was a reference to the disciple John.

m, I know what you mean. I think BBM slash writing is forever changed and has certainly long ago seen its peak. I just think too many authors have moved on to other fandoms. Unless there is some revival from a musical or a re-make somewhere down the line years from now, I don't see it changing.

Cheyenne Jackson and Michael Urie Rip "Newsweek"'s Ramin Setoodeh For "Gays Can't Play Straight" Article said...

When asked to comment on Ramin Setoodeh's recent article about how openly gay actors can't convincingly play heterosexual roles, Cheyenne Jackson and Michael Urie straight-out called the Newsweek entertainment writer an ''asshole'' who's ''unconscionable.'' The two out actors were speaking at a talkback after Monday's performance of The Temperamentals, Jon Marans' acclaimed Off-Broadway play about early gay rights activists in the 1950s.

After moderator Frank DeCaro asked Jackson what he thought of Setoodeh's piece, the Broadway star of Finian's Rainbow and TV guest star of 30 Rock said:

"It was infuriating on so many levels. Not only does [Setoodeh] say that a gay man can't play straight, he got personal, picking on Sean Hayes in Promises, Promises, [pointing out] certain scenes where he thinks [Sean] is stiff and uncomfortable. And then he picks on Jonathan Groff, who just came out. He's a young teen heartthrob [in Glee]. He's so talented and so delicious and needs our love and support. Instead, [Setoodeh] says he's not believable at all. It was very veiled self-loathing. Really upsetting.

Everytime we go forward, some asshole like this takes us back a bit. I was really glad that Kristin Chenoweth wrote what she did [in defense of her Promises, Promises co-star Sean Hayes and other openly gay actors]. She sent it to me before it went out and about. I was very proud of her. For me to stand up and say, 'F*ck you,' that's what you'd expect. But for someone like Kristin, she stands up for what she believes in and is very committed."

Urie, who stars in The Temperamentals as Viennese designer Rudi Gernreich, added:

"Look, I'm not from f*cking Vienna. We're all actors, and the audiences get it. When I saw Sean Hayes in Promises, Promises, it was a full house and everyone was completely in love with him. And I saw it at a Wednesday matinee full of tourists. They've all seen Sean in Will & Grace, and they loved him and believed in his relationship with Kristin. It worked.

And to attack, to quote Ugly Betty, someone [like Groff] recently 'hatched from the gay egg' is unconscionable and he should strung be [up]. [Groff] made everyone want him in Spring Awakening. And Cheyenne was f*cking Elvis in All Shook Up. He was sexy and hot. He's always playing straight. And people buy tickets to see him. No straight critics accuse Sean Penn of not being able to play Harvey Milk or [criticize] Tom Hanks in Philadelphia."

Jackson added: ''That's because when straight actors play gay, they're so 'brave.' Why is it so f*cking 'brave'? It's a part and he's a good actor. I hope we can get to the day where the best actor gets the part. End of story.''

After Elton
