A night with the guys ...
and who comes home with a stiff one?
Did you know that Austin worked with Ed Zwick?
Between TDAT and Glory Road, Austin Austin did a pilot for "1/4 life". It was about – friends and roommates – in their mid-20s living in Chicago.
Created by Ed with his partner Marshall Herskovitz, who directed the pilot, was something they have been thinking for about doing, a series about the time that comes after graduation and has to coming to grips with life in the real world.
"I think in some fundamental way, everyone is 25," Zwick said. "It's a moment when you've stopped being the person you were and are not yet the person you're going to become."
Ed thought "1/4life" would probably become a "spiritual cousin" to "thirtysomething," but they stressed that it would have a distinct look and feel from its forerunner.
Austin played Charlie, and one of the other actors in the show Shiri Appleby follows him on The CW Tuesday nights in Life Unexpected.
ABC did not pick up the pilot. There was word that there were 3 additional episodes shot. Zwick and Herskovitz were able to retain the rights from ABC, and reformatted the concept to create a network quality webseries, called "quarterlife". They also create a companion social network called quarterlife.com.
So with Ed already knowing Austin, seems like the Sasquatch was already welcomed.
Happy Austin Friday.

Sigh, lost my post because I was too quick with the publish button.
Even before this new BV, that question and answer from Ted earlier today got me to thinking about Jake's seemingly dark side and his choice of beards, the all-American sweetheart types. Especially with Swift, who cultivates that young sweet and a bit innocent image--despite Mayer--and which I think in her case is why she is linked to guys like Lautner and Jake.
But with Jake, I think his choice is kind of twisted--the virginal blonde type that is so far from his persona--and I can't help but think on some level he gets off on pushing that image publicly while on the prowl privately.
Jake Gyllenhaal Sneaks Into Harry Potter's Back Door
Jakey Gyllenhaal got shy and didn't want to walk the carpet at last night's Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows - Part Uno premiere in London, so he tried to be slick and sneak into the theater's back door with protection (aka his bodyguards). Dude got caught!
And Jakey would've brought Taylor Swift with him, but the movie is rated PG-13 so....
But what about Austin? Jake on the prowl dispels that happy lovey-dovey image you want to believe.
So what is it? Are they still together (in which case Ted's latest is complete bullshit, leading one to think other things he writes about Jake/TT are bullshit as well) or have they separated?
I believe they are together and they have an open relationship with certain agreed rules about the casual hook-ups. It seems to work for them.
That might fly if they were otherwise unencumbered, but is that really the way two parents behave? And only Jake gets to live out his freaky side? I can't believe this partik Ted item at all.
Being a parent doesn't mean the end of your sex life, even if it is unconventional. I remember reading something Dan Savage wrote in which he mentioned having a three-way with his husband after they became parents.
Parents do go out for the evening and leave kids with nannies, relatives, etc. We're talking about a quickie in an alley, not going home to spend the night with someone.
I've always thought J&A had an open relationship, going back to the original WFT.
Still doesnt make it right and Dan Savage is surely not a role model for gay men. I guess this is the only way to justify Ted's latest and to still believe J/A are together.
How in the world would Ted know that Jake got freaky is some smelly alleyway. Cmom!

JG: What did you think of Jake Gyllenhaal’s performance in Brokeback Mountain?
Annie Proulx: I think he’s a sweet boy.
Unbelievable. Annie knows that Jake did an outstanding job as Jake Twist. I am sure this statement has so much more to do with where Jake has gone and done in the years he turned his back on his Gay fans and now has made a joke of BBM and blames it for his so horrible Gay rumors. I still can't get over this one.
I don't for a minute doubt the stresses of being a Gay actor in HW and having to hide it to survive. Not one of HW's leading men are out and no doubt there are several. You come out and you are done. The message must get out loud and clear from the studios. I for one just don't think that Gay rumors are killing Jake's career. I think Jake is in a tough spot. Being in the closet is hurting his acting abilities. Being so guarded in life must effect his talents. It has to. Jake has a huge decision to make and he better make it soon. The road he is chosen is not working. He is blaming the rumors. He will soon realize if he doesnt already know that he is fooling himself. His acting is hurting his career. We have seen Jake the terriffic actor through Brokeback. Where have those skills gone.
The comment he made about Brokeback being acting proves to me that it is always on his mind. Jake needs to free himself of his demons. I hate watching Jake and Austin making such fools of themselves.
I do really good impersonations on twitter. Here's Keanu Reeves. "I AM AN F.B.I. AGENT!". Wasn't that good? 12 minutes ago via Twitter for BlackBerry®
That last tweet of Austin's is darling. I know very little about him but he is growing on me the more I know. Not just a pretty boy.
Groce (?) how the heell would you know if Dan Savage is a role model for gay men? I know Dan and happen to think he is. He's a pretty big deal round these parts (pacific northwest) & influential in many ways.
It's heartbreaking that "liberal" Hollywood is so unprogressive. My thoughts on Jake's lack of success (subjective, but ok) have more to do with his choice of movie roles and public styling of his persona than any gay rumors. I have only liked him in indie flicks. I just can't see him swapping roles with Tom Cruise or Matt Damon. He wanted to be a big movie star, and he wanted that more than his own freedom.
^ Is that you trolly?
Gyllenhaal and Hathaway Talk Tushies
2nd brilliant twitter impersonation. John Malkovich. "I WANT MY MONEY." (Russian accent). To Matt Damon in Rounders. Didn't I nail it?

Well I see now why Ted used the words no longer limited to parking lots and out in the open. Not sure what to think. Jake was back in HW lately and he and Austin are apart quite a bit. Jake's too young to make do with his hand all the time. Many men treat sex like a bodily function, love and feelings not required. So I can believe that they allow each other to have casual encounters as long as they are safe, careful and no relationship develops. I find it hard to believe any guy would walk away from Jake though. Surely they could have moved to a more suitable location if both parties were interested. But I don't think Ted would run a story so specific unless he fact checked it thoroughly. I also notice that a lot of bloggers made back door or other type references to Jake today. Even some that had not made any hints about him for a while. A direct result of the Taylor fauxmance. Rather than dampen the gay rumors, it raised them to a higher level. The Ted BV may be why Jake was reportedly in a less than good mood yesterday. An advance copy perhaps with some splainin to do to Goose.
Super cute, brown haired, younger than Toothy, wholesome looking. I dont recall Ted describing someone in a BV so clearly. I wonder if ted talked to him face to face to check out the story.
Ted doesn't have to check to run a BI, it's made up=fan fiction. The description of the alleged incident reads like really bad slash, I bet one of his interns write it.
Jake has enough $$$ to be discreet, Ted "sources" disappeard long ago and has been replaced by fangirls.
Pointing to Jack.
What happened to the strippers????
