All the talk about LaOD being an adult RomCom with all kinds of nakedness, you'd think there would be a Red Band Trailer. Well now there is, but it's more barenaked but bawdy that makes it a Red Band, meaning a lot of dick jokes (but what do you expect from a Viagra movie).
Since Red Band usually means NSFW - saying NSFW.
Austin's been doing his twitter impersonation.

I'm catching you early today Special. My vote is for number 2. PRESIDENT MUFFLEY (Peter Sellers) in Dr. Strangelove ...
Can just imagine Austin as a taller and lanky Peter Sellers.
Now I have to go and try and find Ted's BV which I haven't seen first hand as of yet.
Who knows whether Ted's source is credible, but I don't for a minute think Ted would make up the BV, especially with LAOD on the horizon. Ted obviously likes Jake and wants to see him and LAOD do well. As to why Ted would run it now, given what I just said, maybe Ted did it as a warning to Toothy about the possibility of getting caught.
Ted can make upanything he wants, it's a BV.
Warning my ass, he made it up just like he made up the crap about TT and the strippers, someone would have seen him in the strip clubs.
In this case someone other than Ted's "source" would have seen TT in that alley trying to random guys to suck his dick, he would have been busted already, someone would post it on a gay blog like they do when they catch Franco making out with guys or the tales of Travolta and the massuses which were talked about on gay blogs way before NE and Ted BI caught on, he was even banned from a club in Palm springs (travolta).
I suspect that whoever posted about Dan Savage not being a good role model was just doing it to be contrary, but I'm going to respond anyway.
Dan Savage is one of my heroes and I think he's a great role model for the gay community.
He's written a book about what it is like for a gay man to raise a kid with his partner--which was turned into a musical.
He writes honestly about sex and sexuality.
He regularly appears on TV and is a strong advocate for the gay community and is someone the media can turn to when they want to talk to someone about gay issues. Someone has to do it (there are not a lot of people out there doing it), and Dan does it very well.
He has been taking on and writing about homophobes like Rick Santorum for years.
He started the It Gets Better campaign with his husband, a project that has gone viral, with over 9 million views for all of the It Gets Better videos. A campaign for which even Hilary Clinton and Obama have done videos, not to mention actors, singers and countless ordinary people, like the really touching one I saw done by the players in a gay football league.
Congratulations to Vera Farmiga and her husband who had a little girl, Gytta Lubov Hawkey, Nov. 4.
1:14PM, not even a good try. you sound awfully bothered by a BV that you think is made up and are trying way too hard to try and convince people that you apparently think are crazy that it couldn't possibly be true :)
destiny, ITA with everything you've said about Dan Savage. Sad that there are still people out there bothered by his frankness and his honesty.
Seems to me that the whole point is that someone did see it. Or that Ted knows the source well enough to believe the story. There are way too many eyes on Ted to make something like that up, not that he would make anything up in the first place. And knowing that the whole world thinks Jake is Toothy, he knows damn well he better make sure the story is true before he posts it.
For some reason AT is loading very slowly but I see from the tag line that Jake and Toothy are in the Bitch back today. I'll try again in a few moments to see what Ted had to say.
My favorite is Joe Buck's I'm one helluva stud. Because it is true. Austin gets better looking all the time. He is aging nicely.
I actually prefer the original trailer over the red band. Some of the humor in the red band strikes me as juvenile. A brief moment in time, I know, but it made me want to see less of the film, not more.
@the real M @2:01 I totally agree.
Of all the gossips that rise to the level of credible, Ted is pretty much the only one with a corporate media structure behind him. We can be sure that his editor & E's lawyers are making sure that his BVs are solid. Lainey, Perez, Gossip Boy... not so much. They're independent blogs. They're accountable only to their advertisers, who pay attention to stats, not truth.
And when it comes to Toothy, who is all but revealed, those sources had better be real solid. Triple-checked. So there's that.
But I also have to shut down this idea that there's NO WAY Toothy, with all his money, would risk it all by getting a blowjob in an ally because he could be caught. You mean, just like he was caught by police in the parking garage? That's Ted's point. He's telling Toothy to wise up, or this stuff is going to end up in the Enquirer, and not as a blind. Just like Travolta in the spa, George Michael in the public bathroom, Al Gore's "massage", Senator Larry Craig in the bathroom stall, and countless other celebrity sexual indiscretions that come to light.
No, he's really not making this stuff up.
I just watched the trailer.
So, I know most of the people here are big Jake fans and supporters and hope this does well. But this is just not a movie I would see. I'm an indie chick and a movie snob. I like my movies to be intelligent and provocative. This just looks... stupid.
I've seen Jake in Donnie Darko, Lovely and Amazing, and The Good Girl. That's the Jake I love - NOT because he's young, because I'm just not into big hyped Hollywood movies. I'll see Brokeback someday - I was having a baby when that came out.
So, knowing what I've seen him in, what else has he been in more recently that you think I'd actually like?
Dear Ted:
This is like, my quadrillionth email to you (though I know you won't reply), and while I am not a fan of your love for a certain bad Twilight actress, I will say that I am an avid reader of your Blinds. Subsequently, after eons of contemplation, my genius sister has deciphered who Toothy Tile is: Seann William Scott.

Dear Cocky One:
Sorry to your sis, but you're off on Toothy. Though, not a terrible guess. Like, at all.
Dear Interesting One:
That's a toughie. I think someone like Toothy, Nevis or Crotch-Uh-Lastic would do wonders for the LGBT community, but deciding to come out as gay or bi is a personal decision. I wouldn't want them to do it if they weren't ready. So I guess I'd want someone's vice exposed who's just a plain ol' bad person. Maybe Cruella St. Shackles?
Dear Ted:
I have to admit, I finally understand the mania behind Jake Gyllenhaal. Watching the trailers and clips for Love and Other Drugs has me almost as sprung on Jakey as I am on James Franco. So do you have any insider info on whether the flick is really as good as it looks? I haven't anticipated a movie like this in a long time, and I'm dying to know if me and my new baby kitten, Champ, should invest our hard-earned dollars on seeing it in theaters?

Dear Movie Buff:
How many times do I have to say it? See this movie! Then see it again. You won't be disappointed with J.G.'s bod either, that's for sure.
Bitch Back
The first half hour of LAOD is great, as is Jake, but then it turns all too typical romcom.
I seem to be in the minority on this, but I love Zodiac and love Jake in it.
I also adore Bubble Boy, it is silly and imo not the typical mainstream comedy.
Anyone seen Austin this weekend. I wonder if he used his passport.
What Jake achieved in his career at such a young age is staggering. To have created two iconic movie characters by 25, most in Hollywood work their whole career to have a chance at one. He had a real groove with indie movies, but agree I think he was really good in Zodiac too. I think his acting was so quiet and close that was overshadowed by RDJ's character. Rendition was like a big brother's suit, he wasn't quite ready for, but he was ready for Brothers, he had it to fill the shoes of Tommy.
And Bubble Boy is addictive, somehow whenever it is on you just have to watch it.
He has used some of his movies to work with certain directors or genres almost as if he has been creating a personal film/acting school experience. And think some choices have been because it might have been for more personal reasons.
I like the idea that he is looking at doing more comedy, he has a natural comedic sense and there isn't anyone around his age who's really captured the handsome charming and funny trifecta.
RE: The trailer and the shifter - it reminded me of the "into fifth" comment about TT and GG's auto adventures.
Spesh I agree Jake at the age of 29 does have an impressive resume. I just don't think he is headed in the right direction. He is good looking and very charming. Several of us can tell you that first hand. He has a wonderful presence. I thnk the chance to work with Anne again was a good experience. I feel at this point though he is headed the way of Ben Afleck. Decent but just not in the same class as the top actors. I thought LAOD might be his pot of Gold but that hasn't happened yet. I think Jake works very hard looking for the right role. I think his chance to get the part that will bring him back to where he was post Jarhead and BBM might still happen but so far it just hasn't. Source Code looks like my kind of movie and I am looking forward to it. I would love to have seen him get the the part Chris Pine did in Unstoppable. It looks awesome. That will be a movie people will run to see.
I have to admit, I'm not too crazy about the humor in this latest trailer. Blue Valentine is more my kind of film. I was intrigued by Anne's character in the film, but now I don't know.
I think Ryan Gosling and James Franco are approaching superstar status with their roles in Blue Valentine and 127 hours. Especially Mr. Franco. Him along with Colin Firth and Jeffrey Eisenberg are the three favorites to win the Oscar for Best Actor at this point. I think 127 hrs would have been an awesome part for Jake to get. I hope Austin brought him some luck in Leadville and Jake's gets the role of the biking biography. That would be a perfect role for Jake.
Sorry Jesse Eisenberg.
Yes, 127 Hours would have been an awesome role for Jake. I don't even know if I can watch! :)

My nipples get hard when I see the TRON trailer. I want a suit with blue lights. And a deadly frisby.

Earlier today I saw 127 Hours--Franco was AMAZING. A truly great performance. I think Jake could probably play that role but I don't think he wants to--I don't think he wants to stretch himself like that. The character really goes through a wide range of emotions. BTW, the graphic part is very short--bless Danny Boyle for that.

I dont know if I would agree with you when you say Jake wouldn't stretch himself for any role. I think he would have loved to have got that part.
Do you think so? I don't get any impression that he's interested in stretching himself like that...I think he wants to do sex comedies and action adventure films/genre suspense films and that's it. Nothing like 127 Hours or Blue Valentine. T
"Jake's gets the role of the biking biography. That would be a perfect role for Jake."
Peter Saarsgard is pursuing that role not Jake. Peter was doing the research for the role and Jake just came along for the ride.
I don't think Jake has anything on the front burner or close. He's becoming one of those actors that is famous for who he dates and not his acting. If LAOD does not do well and/or if its all about Anne H, Jake will just be a tabloid star and not an actor.
I wonder if Jake heading into a new decade will find him looking at new chances and opportunities in front of and behind the camera.
I can see him finding a difference kind of confidence in his 30's. And that may translate in all areas of his life.

Sorry, SK, I'm not trying to rain on your parade, but if Ted's latest BV is true, and it sounds possible to me, then I don't see a "confident" man at all. I see a person who feels trapped, and THAT will translate in all areas of his life. I understand why you're not commenting on the BV, but ignoring it doesn't make it go away. Even if you don't believe the BV, his obvious bearding with Taylor Swift does not show confidence, imo, it shows desperation.
Did I say now? I said in his 30's. It's not like a speedometer the moment you hit it everything changes. It's a whole decade to find it.

It was so nice of both of his brother in laws to come with him.
So what are your thoughts on the back alley BV, Special?
God I love Clearwater Beach. How many days to pitchers and catchers SK?
Garrett Hedlung makes my nipples hard Austin.

I understand. But I don't see any indication of this difference, quite the opposite. I don't know what you're basing that expectation on.
So what are your thoughts on the back alley BV, Special?
C'mon SK, spill the beans. First you have to remove those ROSE colored glasses.
onomemusic:"You meet thousands of people, but you only meet one person and your life is changed forever". - Jake Gyllenhaal
Jake looks to me like he has lost interest in acting. Sure he is doing his best to promote LAOD, but his attitude is just different than in prior films, even as recently as POP. There is an undertone of indifference.
I'm interested in the reactions to 127 hours. I do plan to see it but am not sure it needs to be in a theater. DVD may be OK. I thought Franco was great in Howl and Milk. He went through a pretty boy faze too but seems to have come into his own. I was also blown away by The Social Network and particularly Eisenberg. I'd be disappointed if he does not get an Oscar nomination.
Like M I see some indifference in Jake.
I also agree that if indeed that BV is true, that is a sign of how trapped and insecure Jake is. Heck, even without the BV I think that is sadly still true of Jake as he's about to hit 30,
I see some indifference in Jake.
Yes, that's possible. But "indifference" is an entirely different trait than the "confidence" SK is predicting. Time will tell.
Jake if you or your handlers are indeed stalking this board, here's some advice. If you want to be a respected actor again stop the PR romances whether they or intentional or not. I would advise you to go away a little while from HW (and little blonde picture ops) after Source Code. Maybe do some plays off broadway, acting classes. Or God forbid a little independent film. It just seems when you were younger, your acting choices were better. And last but not least, drop the PR firm and maybe your agent. You can't be a sex symbol forever. You are aging way too fast.
Oops forgot to titled myself
^ I think Jakey can be a sex symbol forever. Montgomery Clift, anyone? Otherwise, I agree with you :)
