I Know a Little German

....he's sitting over there.

Ok maybe not so little in this case. But it has prompted a Monday Top Ten.

Top Ten Explanations for Austin's Outfit.

10. "I've been bitten by the Bavarian Bug."

9. A man in search of a Oompah band.

8. "This? This what I wear driving the Audi family truckster."

7. Rejected Halloween costume The Little Hummel Boy

6. "Next time in Leadville I'm wearing this."

5. OTH got a new sponsor Ricola.

4. "I 'm going to Sing-a-long Sound of Music night as Kurt Von Trapp."

3. See what happens on OTH writers' night with too much Jagger.

2. Three words: Too much Schlitterbahn

and the number #1 explanation for Austin outfit.

"I got a fever! And the only prescription.. is more glockenspiel!"

“I know a little German.”

Oh, I love TOP SECRET and Nick Rivers. Too funny!

I don't know which selection I like better because they are all incredibly clever. Let's see. I guess if I had to choose it would be between the "Schlitterbahn" and the Leadville fashion sense. Like I always say, "You can never have enough consonants!" LOL.

Another funny post; i love the Ricola ad myself.

This is one of my favorite songs from Sound of Music.

I must pay homage and a tribute to hte great Leslie Nielsen who passed away yesterday, I think it was.

Gosh, I loved that guy. He was sooooo funny! He was so handsome, too, from the time that I saw him in a Tammy Tell Me True movie clear up to those oh-so-stupid-they-were-hilarious movies with Priscilla Presley and Murder She Wrote. He was perhaps even more handsome as a 70+ year old man - so debonair.

But he was just hilarious. Those stupid Police Squad movies just make me laugh because they're just so stupid and I've watched bits & pieces of them a kazillion times.

Thank you, Leslie Nielsen. You made me laugh 1,000,000 times and the sound of your voice was just wonderful.

I loved Leslie Nielsen too; Airplane never fails to make me laugh. He had the best delivery.

There were only a few songs that could go with that outfit. And the Lonely Goatherd won.

Top Secret is a favorite favorite favorite of mine. It is sad how I can do the dialog and the songs I know I have driven friends crazy. It was the Zucker Brothers and Jim Abrahams who were responsible for Kentucky Fried Movie, Airplane and Police Squad/Naked Gun.

And on that note yup gotta agree PG on the shout out to late Leslie Nielsen. For the guy who always played the rich guy or the heavy, he reinvented himself into one of the funniest men on film. He loved making people laugh.

So does anything think Austin can pull of the knee high socks that go with the lederson? It could go either way with chicken legs. : D

prairiegirl said...

They would need to be dark socks, a la the gym picture.

I couldn't think of the name of those movies at first but they were called Naked Gun. Lt. Frank Drebin.

It's great that Leslie Nielsen was able to laugh at himself. He had great facial expression and timing.

And on Murder, She Wrote, he was so attractive both in looks as well as his whole physical manner. I thought he and Jessica Fletcher made a great couple!

I bought Susan Boyle's new Christmas cd and I tell you what, that first song, "Perfect Day" is beautiful. I bought it sight unseen, or is that sound unheard?, because I think her voice is just incredible. It's clear and just flawless. But the first song kind of throws me because it talks about having the perfect day with someone, but then a couple lines of the lyrics are like, "You keep me hanging on" and there's another one that seem to sound like the opposite. So it kind of throws me. And the last 3 lines of the song, which happen to be the most beautiful, are about reaping what you sow.

So I'm not quite getting the song. Is it a happy song or a bittersweet song? I'm not quite sure. Borders has been churning out the border bucks and coupons. This past weekend, they had a real bang-up sale and so I bought several holiday cd's. I also bought Annie Lennox's new Christmas cd. I can't wait to hear it. I was too busy today at work listening to Susan Boyle over & over. I must've listened to Perfect Day about 20 times, lol.

A local Borders store is closing permanently. I wonder if they're having problems. They've decreased their inventories and the e-book business has got to be hurting them. I would hate to see them fold up. I like Barnes & Noble, but they're more expensive than Borders, I think.

And before I go back to my writing, lest there be a wrong impression that I've gone soft, note my temporary avatar.

This is a bar of Pre de Provence soap. Note the roughened outer texture of this bar. This is an exfoliating bar of soap and it does look like it would be quite grainy.

This bar of soap is for Austin.

To clean that mouth of his after that disgusting comment he made regarding tampons. I'm trying to decide which scent I want that bar to be.

Agrumes? for the grapefruit?

Lemongrass? for the tanginess and the exfoliation?

Lemon Zest? "provides the well being of cheer and revitalization"
May he be revitalized.

Linden? "Fresh and clean" Enough said.

Mint Leaf? "Restorative"

Or sage? "Herbal, fresh, & exhilarating". Exfoliating.

Sage sounds nasty enough. I vote for sage.

Cute post today. How is it that I've never seen that movie.

PG glad to see you back and a new chapter to boot. I'll be reading it tonight.

Took the day off to do a little shopping and for some R&R. No gifts purchased but I got a few small things for myself.

LOL! Yeah Austin can definitely have a potty mouth, sometimes. Although I'm sure he's convinced that tweets like these are "clever." I like your idea, PG. How about if you use the sage and I'll select the Lemongrass, since the last three letters of the word seem so appropriate?

Well, everyone. It looks likes it's official. Ding, ding, ding. The "in the know," Celebrity GPS segment on ET just did a story about the whole official Jake and Swifty rollout. Man does this sound just like Reeke. They were "cute & cozy" (nice alliteration) and "not trying to hide it." (nice to know they're willing to share their love with the rest of us peasants).

Jake must be going for frequent flyer miles for that Arctic Circle trip because they announced that they've only been together a month, yet they have spent time in New York, California, London (although they forgot to mention the closet), and now Nashville. Guess Jakey had to make up for not taking Swifty to Rome. Hmm. Jake must be losing his touch. Didn't he propose to Reesey on bended knee when they announced their looooove in October 2007? Have to admit, I did think the grainy photograph was a nice touch. Understated. Makes it look almost like a candid moment.

Okay, I'm waiting for that piggyback ride now. Let's shake it up a bit this time though. Maybe Tay Tay could let Jake ride on her back, instead of the old tried and true practice. Now that would be original.

It really upsets me to hear of Borders or even Barnes & Nobles shutting down. I love going to bookstores, I guess I'm old-fashioned but I like to look to browse physical books, not on-line.

And I saw that remark PG, talk about sounding like a 13-year old boy. Coming from a 30-year old something like that is just unbelievably crass and NOT FUNNY.

J&A just seem to be running backwards in every sense of the word.

Somehow I can see Austin trying to discuss Nietzsche with a two year old. Now that would be one heck of a bedtime story.

"every specific body strives to become master over all space and to extend its force (--its will to power:) and to thrust back all that resists its extension."

It sounds like he's had experience doing this, but with what 2 yr old?

PG, have you ever heard of Lou Reed? Or a little album called Transformers? Check it out.

Too Much Coffee for Jake & Taylor Romance?"

After spending the holiday together, Taylor Swift and Jake Gyllenhaal have many wondering just how serious these two love birds are.

Unfortunately our hopes of giving our Awful stamp of approval for Jaylor were shattered over the weekend.

Why you ask?

Because they are already going the way of Gyllenspoon.

If you've been a longtime reader of this blolum you know where we're heading.

It's true, Jake and Taylor are keeping their romance hot by...getting steamy cups o' joe.

Say it with us now: Noooooooooo!

Coffee dates are the kiss of death for any couple. OK, well maybe just for a babe attached to gorgeous Jake's arm. Maybe, just maybe, we prefer ice cream excursions.

Swift and Gyllenhaal spent Thanksgiving grabbing maple latte's together in Brooklyn, before he hopped a flight with the country singer to Nashville.

And then an employee at Fido, in Nashville's hip Hillsboro Village, tells us that Taylor and Jake grabbed coffees at the shop on Saturday—which they are supposedly snapped doing here.

Ugh!

We get that Taylor is 20, so romantic wine nights aren't technically legal, but there has to be some another creative way to hang.

Or are we missing something? Is grabbing coffee the new sexy thing?

We get that it's a good day date to get to know someone...but from what we are hearing, Jake's posse (and we can only assume Taylor's too) are pushing this relationship to be more than a casual "fling."

Ted makes it clear that this relationship is being pushed by Jake and his people.
It's kind of ironic to think back top way back when Austin got accused of using Jake to get attention and a career. But look who is the one using more famous people to try and get ahead. Yes, Austin has done it a bit with Sophia, but nothing like Jake ad his beards.

Jaylor in TN said...

You didn't mis anything what did I miss, Jake and Taylor were seen having dinner at City House in Germantown in Nashville.

Special K said...

Actually Ted said both Jake and AND Taylor's people were pushing this.

There was an interesting comment about Taylor on CMT.com

Is Taylor Swift a Future Marketing Exec?
On the Forbes website, John Dragoon, the chief marketing officer at a major software manufacturer, wrote an interesting blog titled "What Taylor Swift Can Teach CMOs." He begins by stating that Taylor has a future career as a chief marketing officer.

"The music industry's leading lady is on a roll," he wrote. "Her latest release is on fire, and she's leaving her country music competitors, along with every other singer on the market, in the dust."

Dragoon notes that the 20-year-old sold more than 1 million copies of Speak Now during its first week of release in the U.S. and debuted at No. 1. As the New York Times reports, that's 11 times more than what the No. 2 album sold -- and more than the next 61 titles combined.

"But as good as she is as a talent, I'm more impressed with the marketing machine Taylor has become," Dragoon said. "She by no means is the most gifted singer or guitar player, but she knows her audience and she speaks directly to them with her product."

As for Austin - well what do you call letting his "girlfriend" extend the history of their relationship to 5 1/2 years, and allude to partnerships and engagements. He's letting Sophia do the work.
