The problem with Stubborn is that the only times she comments is to chastise someone for being negative about Jake. Why doesn't Stubborn come out and tell us what there is to be happy about these days.

I see nothing wrong with pointing out RT ratings. I think what critics have to say is often a good gauge of how a movie will do, particularly one like LAOD that would seemingly appeal to an older audience, despite all the marketing to younger viewers.

And got to agree with Stubborn Jake's Mom. Why not just point out the other statistic without attacking another poster for putting up the critic's rating? Personally I never look at the other number mentioned, so I wouldn't have posted it either if I was talking about RT.

I saw the movie with Roma, who posts here occasionally. What the critics have been saying in their reviews is pretty much the same things we said about the movie.

So both Jake and Austin are in LA. I bet they will be both headed to NYC soon to be with family. Of course we could get some ridiculous tweets placing Austin elsewhere.

I also agree regulars should not be attacking other posters especially one of our own. We all see things differently and that is fine. Some posters think Jake can do no wrong. Others think he has done a lot wrong. This ain't no church is it? At least I don't see an altar with Jake's picture on it. We all care about Jake and what he does. Some of the stuff he does really p*ss*s some of us

People don't seem to be able to point out the bad statistics without getting a dig in at Jake, so I don't see how my comments are so bad.

After both you and PG have thrown around personal insults at actual posters here in the last 2 weeks, I also don't think you have a right to complain about someone being criticized.

I didn't get personal, I just pointed out that there are positive statistics on that very same page m is getting the supposedly bad ones from, a mere 2 inches to the left of it, by the way.

Sorry, but if you're willing to overlook it despite being so visible, it's cause you don't want to see it.

And it's not just the RT numbers either. People were constantly posting negative PoP reviews from seriously obscure sites - sometimes from people who weren't exactly gay-friendly - while at the same time brushing over good ones.
I happen to actually still like Jake and Austin as people and as a couple, so I'm not assuming the worst at all times before I have at least a good part of information. If that makes me a sheep, robot, stepford wife, babbler, troll or any other insult you can come up with (relative of Jakes maybe?), then so be it. But don't expect me to pretend like you were being civil.

As to the poster who wants to know why I don't comment here much anymore? I refer you to my answer I gave PG before her 2 week absence in response to her insulting me.

A lot of what is going on here is simple to figure out. Number one fact is Jake's post BBM career has not been great. I don't think there is much of an argument there. You just can't post positive reviews when most are bad. Some of us at least myself think the reason for this is that Jake is living a lie and it is hurting his acting abilities and his decisions. The guy just said he wanted to make LAOD because he wanted to show sex scenes and love scenes are acting and then pointed out that BBM was acting. What more to we need to hear Jake needs to come to terms with a few things. I personally do not think his talents will blossom till he comes out. I thinks that same statement is being laid on the table here time and time again.

Jake is not in L.A. , he is still in NY. The interviews he canceled today were via satellite from NY.

Affiliates in L.A. and Indiana were supposed to particpate. He plans on doing This Morning on CBS tomorrow in NY, that may be taped but most likely there is a break in filing in the UK and Maggie and Co will be home for Thanksgiving in NY.

Austin wasn't hatched from an egg, he has family in Texas, posters here seem to cringe at the thought that he would actually want to spend the day in Texas with his parents, sister, brother in law and his niece and nephew.

Austin is in LA, his tweet about the interview with Extra is at The Grove, which is a mall in LA.

Wherever Jake is he has been quiet since his dance with the Banana Boyz.

And I don't think anyone has a problem with Austin being with his family, but I wonder why people have a problem with the idea of him with Jake and their family to celebrating the holidays.

gobble said...

How come you never say, Jake maybe will go to texas for the Holidays with the Nichols, it's always the Gyllenhaals.

Whats the matter? Austin's parents and their professions aren't glamourous or sexy enough?

Well at least his parents are still together, they are still respected in their community which is more than I can say for Jake's washed up, busted, tacky parents.

we saw Austin's tweet and where he and Sophia are at the moment and we know what the Grove is.

Hey, speaking of Mr and Mrs Soapy, they are bring honored at some gala in NY on 12/6 by the Green proj and they are auctioning off 2 tickets to hang with them, did you bid SK??

I don't personally insult posters unless I am sure they are a troll; I may disagree very strongly with their opinions, but I don't tell them they shouldn't say things I don't like, e.g., I don't complain that they are being "too positive" and tell them to knock it off.

and you are sure they are troll about 100% of the time they do not agree with you views, destiny.

Stubborn TB said...

Calling everybody who doesn't think the way you do a robot and laughing about PGs stepford-wife insult isn't a personal insult at all, got it.
But god forbid I point out people are actively ignorning positive things right in front of their eyes and I'm the big bad meanie attacking people.

And I think it's been said several times in the past, but I'll say it again: The whole deal with throwing around troll or Babbler (or in its latest incarnation: PR) at every chance is just another way to shut people out. And the majority of time it's not cause they were being disrespectful and simply because people don't agree with them.

haus frau meltdown lol

destiny said...

Yes, I can tell a troll, like lol calling everyone a haus frau. Similar comments are trollish, like "hating icky women". I don't call people trolls just because I disagree with their opinion. However, berating people for theirs is another.

And yes Stubborn people did ignore the comments from the troll lobbed at PG and others, because it is often better to not give them more ammo by joining the food fight. But for me it is different when a regular poster says something that sounds like it is meant to shut down conversations they don't like.

People can't help the perception they have. I for one cannot recall you commenting much in the past month or so, except to go after Jack when he was being particularly nasty, and yesterday to complain about negativity. No comments about what you think about Jake's interview. No comments when me and Roma reviewed LAOD and said both positive and negative things about the movies. As a result, right or wrong, people see you as someone who only posts when you want to attack other posters and/or the negativity.

That poster the other day was at least bringing us some facts, and participating in or trying to start a conversation.

Stubborn TB said...

I never disagreed that I don't post much anymore, I have stated yesterday and two weeks ago why that is.

Again, I am not the one dishing out the personal insults, so why is that I am the the one that gets labelled the attacker? I have yet to hear from any of you that it's not okay to do that when it's one of your own as Tom so nicely put it.

How exactly is my saying that you're ignoring positive facts any more of a "shutting down" of conversation than it is for people to gang up and complain about my being the big bad attacker?
And why do you get to have a perception of other people and their posts and comment on it, but I don't?

By the way, I also brought information to the table yesterday. But so far not a single person is interested to comment on those cause they're not part of the doom and gloom that's almost required for comments to even be read.

Mashed Potatoes and Gravy said...

Jack, is that you again? You better crawl back under your rock, otherwise someone might serve you up for Thanksgiving! (Blech!)

If someone is obviously a troll, I do try to ignore, as Destiny is right that it just gives the juveniles more ammo to annoy with.

However, for posts that I don't agree with, I try to remember that there are other perceptions and opinions different than mine, and that it isn't always a trumpet call to charge if someone disagrees with me.

A good debate is a good debate it is true, but there are times that it becomes a battle, and if one is going to dish it out, they should be able to take it as well. I'm glad Stubborn has spoken up, because sometimes it goes a little too far, and I don't agree in defending "your own" if they behave badly.

Happy Thanksgiving!

Another innuendo-laden quote from Jake on the CBS Early Show this morning. When Harry Smith observed that Jake was the tiny picture in the corner of PEOPLE magazine's 'Sexiest Man Alive' cover issue. Jake says:

"It's an honor to be underneath Brad Pitt, it always is. I have to say -- it was a tough job. It gets harder. ... I'm getting older."

Another interesting tidbit from the Early Show interview was Jake admitting that Ed Zwick did not want him for the part of Jaimie and that he wouldn't even take Jake's calls. When Smith asks how Jake was able to convince Zwick to hire him, at first, Jake predictably jokes about how he sold Ed on the idea that he could be a jerk (chuckling that "It wasn't that hard), but then adds that like a salesman he convinced Zwick that "You wrote this movie for me. You just didn't know it." Jake also goes on to admit that he and Zwick courted Anne Hathaway for the part of Maggie.

Two things. I wish Smith had followed-up and asked Jake why he felt it was so important to get this role? In other words, what was going on with his life in 2009 that made the script/role so appealing? Somehow I truly don't think it was Jake's desperate need to convince people that he could play a jerk. I mean given his Reeke performance at the time....well, enough said on that topic.

And, then I wish Smith asked about whether it was Jake or Ed who first brought up Anne Hathaway's name? Like with many decisions in life, I'm sure there were several motivating factors, but somehow I just can't discount how important it was for Jake to be cast in an überHETEROrsexual film with an exaggerated portrayal of "manly" prowess and virility, when it came to the opposite sex, while cinematically being paired with the woman he had no sexual desire, love or intimacy for in Brokeback Mountain. An odd kind of "nullification" plan, perhaps. I'm sure he wanted Anne because he felt comfortable with her as well, but the convenient connection cannot be completely discounted either.

Smith also talks about Jake turning thirty and inquires about his attitude toward marriage, commitment and family. There was the familiar awkward pause or two before Jake laughs nervously and tries to, once again, avoid the question: "Hmm,hmm. What about it?" He then falls back on the trusty trinity of Maggie, Peter and Ramona, then talks about his parents splitting, blah, blah, blah before finally stating, "I look at it in a whole new light. I'm definitely up for that. That's what I would like in my life." How’s that for a litany of indefinite pronouns?
