Silky Smooth

Jake shaved and more than just his legs (ok, so he waxes those )

Jake was snapped in NYC on Thursday with a look that hasn't been seen in a while.

A clean smooth shave.

And with a toque tugged down in 60-70F weather no doubt it means he got a haircut too.

While it could be that Jake read the article in NY Magazine that despite the Victorian medicine belief that beards protected the throat, beards are breeding grounds for germs; it's for Southpaw no doubt.

Doubt anyone will get a look of the full effect photos of Jake in his trunks and in the ring get "leaked" (probably after Harvey W. sends them straight from his phone)

Jake did play tricks with the paps,  talking on the phone, so that he did keep his face cover with his hand.

Just remember Jakey - photoshop on the Net is not always so let's say - 'straight' forward.

14 photos of one basic pose on IHJ. Fourteen. Basically the same frame.

One photo of him slumped like a 10 year old next to Mom, 1 centimeter shown enough to tell you he shaved.

The fact that out of 15 total photos, none of them has his face in its entirety tells me that both of these photo ops were planted by his people. They were posed.

Their purpose was to "tantalize" and "entice", get his fans "excited" about the prospect of his shaved face.

I don't like this kind of manipulation. I don't like to see celebs jack around with their fans.

Just plain show your face, Jake. It's not like the earth is going to shake, rattle and roll once its shown anyway. I think someone is thinking just a bit too much of the "impact" of a close shave.

Pardon me as I go through the early-middle stages of a bad break up.

LOLLLL. That's exactly what this is. A really bad divorce.

And I have been and am in the process of carrying on a sizzling affair with the Supernatural J2 Ship on the side, but now am in the stages of drawing up the break up/divorce papers on these two, Jake & Austin.

Looking forward to that stage of acceptance and observance, though still heavy on the investigation and refusal to leave the cul-de-sac.

Beyonce and Jay Z have just released a star-studded new video that serves as a spoof trailer for a movie called Run… that is “coming never.”

The video features celebs such as Sean Penn, Don Cheadle, Guillermo Díaz, Emmy Rossum, Jake Gyllenhaal, Blake Lively, Rashida Jones, and Kidada Jones.

It is set to the couple’s song “Part II (On The Run)” and is seemingly a new video to promote their upcoming On The Run Tour, which kicks off this summer.

I'm still waiting to hear the real "story" of why Eminem is no longer involved in Southpaw, which was his project and concept originally, going all the way back to 2010. Kurt Sutter even stated back in 2011 that the boxing tale paralleled Eminem’s life and career.

Something's up.

I was a little curious (when it was first announced that Jake was doing this role) why Eminem left. Not that it seemed like a big deal, maybe he was going to tour or something.

But this movie is based on his life? It's based on his song? Those are lyrics about his life?

Why would he want to leave that?

That's like someone taking one of my fanfic stories that I worked on and wrote, producing it, casting it, tweaking & rewriting parts of it, and me having to watch from the sidelines, "uncaring" what happened to my story.

There's no way. No way I'm going to let that happen. It's my story and I'm not giving it up.

So yeah. Now I'm really curious why Eminem left this role.

Another question - why would Eminem leave his story if he knew that it had almost sure Oscar potential? How come when he leaves the project (his project) does it get backed by all this money?

Who would leave a sure Oscar? And it's based on his story? This is beyond curious to me.

prairiegirl said...

Just observing this thing from my little suburban perch, I compare this Weinstein guy to George Steinbrenner.

He looks like he's trying to buy a World Series. And like I said about George Steinbrenner, well Jake and Weinstein better come through with an Oscar win.

Seems like they're building for a sure thing.

But I'll tell you what. I think WME is making a mistake by associating Jake with JayZ and Beyonce. Those 2 are like a time bomb of bad publicity waiting to go off any time.

Those 2 are bad news. But if JayZ is bankrolling or helping to bankroll this movie? Jake has no choice. That's what appeals to people about JayZ.

Money. And power. He's a bankroll for people. He's a power enabler. And that appeal to certain people because it gets them things. But that also puts you in debt to him. Money and influence don't come free to you - they come with a payback expected.

We're talking about Southpaw the movie.

A few of us want to know why Eminem left this movie project after it had been his project since 2010 and had trouble getting financial backing.

Now he's off the project and all of a sudden it's Jake's and Weinstein is writing the checks.

Funny how Jay Z and Eminem are both associated with Southpaw. Yet, somehow Jay Z is still around and Eminem is long gone:

To quote Jay-Z, “Southpaw boxers are dangerous because they seem awkward to people used to boxing righthanders. It’s a great metaphor for the way those of us from the hood were able to take on the world. We came at shit from a different angle, snuck up on people, surprised them. We turned the thing that made us outcasts into an advantage.” (2011)

prairiegirl said...

Okay, I must correct something. It's not entirely Eminem's song - it was a collaboration between he and JayZ.

And why is it Jake didn't "need" JayZ for Nightcrawler or Enemy? He hung around the guy for End of Watch. But something happened in between those movies and Southpaw.

Now all of a sudden, he's doing Southpaw, a project that JayZ sure as heck looks like he's got some financial stake in, and Jake is being seen with him again.

Please. I'm not blind.

There is some kind of collaboration between Jake and Jay-Z. I wonder if Jake being an executive producer on End of Watch wanted to get Jay-Z on board for a song, and their working relationship went from there. It could be that Jay-Z still had the rights to Southpaw, and after working with Jake on End of Watch, passed Southpaw on to Jake to look over and it went from there.

Don't know if anyone notice the guy in the background of one of pictures has his tongue sticking out. Amazing what split second moments a camera can catch.

Why would Jay Z have the rights to Southpaw, if it was Eminem's project since 2010?

Maybe he found the story interesting and either followed it or wanted a piece of it. Just a thought

Weinstein is always trying to buy awards for his movies, it's business as usual for him.

Eminem went through rehab a few years back, and it could be a reason the project with him in it didn't get far, and/or maybe they couldn't get financing with him in it.

destiny said...

Well, did some reading about the movie, it doesn't sound like Eminem had anything to do with the story or script, but rather came from the writers of Sons of Anarchy. Sounds like things just fell apart, as is often the case in HW, and a new studio and producers picked it up, and they probably just started all over again with the whole project from scratch.

The Wrap

Hollywood hates outsiders said...

It's an interesting point about Eminem. I think Hollywood elites knew this story had the potential for success. However, they didn't want a musician to steal their thunder. A very rebellious and independent musician at that.

I heard that every time Em got close to kick starting the project, the production company suddenly backtracked. I don't think Em's drug problem had anything to do with it. He was already back on his feet by 2010. Hollywood was not pleased with his amazing performance in Eight Mile. Made more established actors look like apprentices.

Hollywood is full of entitled pricks. I don't think it was an accident that when Jake's name suddenly was associated with the part, that no reason was ever given why Em was out. In fact, no mention at all that it was his project to begin with.

Southpaw a metaphor of Eminem's Life said...

No, the story had nothing to do with Eminem, except the whole screenplay was based on Marshall Mather's life. In fact, he was the inspiration for the story since it paralleled his life and struggles. And the... "the boxing genre, and it seemed like an apt metaphor, because his own life has been a brawl. In a way, this is a continuation of the 8 Mile story, but rather than a literal biography, we are doing a metaphorical narrative of the second chapter of his life. He’ll play a world champion boxer who really hits a hard bottom, and has to fight to win back his life for his young daughter. At its core, this is a retelling of his struggles over the last five years of his life, using the boxing analogy. I love that the title refers to Marshall being a lefty, which is to boxing what a white rapper is to hip hop; dangerous, unwanted and completely unorthodox. It’s a much harder road for a southpaw than a right handed boxer.”

Southpaw was a metaphor on Eminem’s life struggles

In other words, the project was based on Eminem's album, (i.e., life), Recovery and was going to be produced by his people. Sounds like this whole film had his fingerprints all over it, doesn't it? Yet, suddenly he's out and Jake's in.

The film will be produced by Eminem’s Shady Films’ managers and producing partners Paul Rosenberg and Stuart Parr, and Alan and Peter Riche of Riche Productions. The deal comes as Eminem’s comeback album, Recovery, just got 10 Grammy Awards nominations.

prairiegirl said...

Interesting take, Hollywood hates Outsiders. Musicians aren't respected in the acting world?

Now watch. Watch for some kind of explanation to publish which will explain why Eminem left the project.

Because I didn't see an explanation given when it was announced that Jake was doing the film. All I saw was simply that Eminem was no longer involved. That was it.

I don't know but I think this is a pretty valid question, especially now that I see the history behind the movie. I really would like to know now why Eminem left the film, considering what we now know about the origin. It's more intriguing than ever.

Thanks for all the great discussion and research people are putting up about Southpaw. It's great!

Given the recent articles about Southpaw, I believe we now know how Weinstein intends to market this film. Somehow, I don't think Eminem would have put up with that kind of cheesy promotion.

One great thing I am immersing myself in lately is the numerous fanfics of the SN fandom. WOW. lol

And I have found my next read after the one that I'm finishing right now. I mean, these girls have some incredible creativity and plot skills. It's unbelievable.

But I have found one that is a dream come true because I once envisioned it for J&A, but well, since it's impossible to even imagine now with those 2, it's not so much with Jensen and Jared.

There's a completed story in existence where Jensen is a bodyguard hired for Jared, an actor. BWAHAHAH!! It's my ultimate fanfic - a remake of The Bodyguard. I cannot wait to read it. ;D
