Mountain or Mole Hill?

It looks like making the movie Everest might be as hard as climbing Everest.

The Nov 22nd issue of The Hollywood Reporter magazine is reporting that
"Cross Creek Pictures has swooped in to save the deadly mountain-climbing film Everest.

"Universal and Working Title scrambled to find a partner after financiers Randall Emmett and George Furla exited the film in October. But when the Nov. 6 production start passed, the Everest prognosis was grim, much like the true story in Jon Krakauer's Into Thin Air, one of several accounts of an expedition that left eight dead. Now sources say Cross Creek is nearing a deal to co-finance. Walden Media is taking a financial stake as well."

And the pullout wasn't because Emmet and Furla didn't like the  movie, bi that the budget kept changing.

So while they found new backers, they still haven't started filming and the window for filming is getting smaller.  The movie "can't be pushed much longer because its Italian Alps shoot is contingent on weather."

So the short story of this mountain of a tale is:

Jake must be done filming Nightcrawler if he was scheduled to shoot on Nov 6th.

At the moment Jake is not working and playing the waiting game.

If they miss the window who knows what will happen with the future of the movie.

It looks like Everest is now set to shoot starting Jan 6.

"Following yesterday’s announcement of an Everest mini-series for FOX comes word today that there will be an unrelated Everest movie. Entitled Everest, it is based on the 1996 Mount Everest disaster and is reportedly based on survivor accounts. It stars Jake Gyllenhaal (Donnie Darko, Zodiac), Josh Brolin (Oldboy remake, No Country for Old Men), Jason Clarke (Chicago Code, Brotherhood), and John Hawkes (Eastbound & Down, Deadwood).

Baltasar Kormákur (Contraband, 2 Guns) directs the script by newcomer Justin Isbell with rewrites by William Nicholson (Gladiator, Mandela: Long Walk to Freedom) and Simon Beaufoy (The Full Monty,Slumdog Millionaire, 127 Hours). The film will begin shooting on January 13 in the Dolomites in Italy and will continue in Nepal and Iceland."

Thanks PG for the heads up on this!!

SOLVED!

Warm Older Actor: Hugh Jackman

Cold younger Actor: Jake Gyllenhall

Film: Prisoners

City/Country: Toronto, Ontario, Canada

Hugh Jackman is consistently reported to be one of the nicest and kindest people in the entertainment industry, and this blind item demonstrates that once more.

This scenario occurred in early September 2013 just outside of Michael’s Restaurant in Toronto, where the cast of Prisoners was dining before the film’s premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival.

Of course, when it came to the red carpet at TIFF later on that evening, both actors interacted with fans. It’s telling though, that Jackman extends himself to the fans no matter what the circumstances, while Gyllenhaal only seems to muster up the interest and niceness when it comes to more formal, staged events.

Both of these actors are undeniably talented. But the positive attitude that Jackman consistently presents may be one of the reasons that he works so much more than Gyllenhaal. Jackman has twelve projects out this year, in production, or in development. Gyllenhaal has five.

Lots of you got this right! Congratulations to CrankyGirl1 for being first!

If this is Hugh Jackman and Jake G, I hope that there is a good reason for it. I work out at the same place as Jake and he has always been extremely nice to me, although he does come off as a bit shy.

I think someone doesn't like the posting of that Blind Gossip Reveal, that's what I think.

And although BG doesn't say how it is they know this to be true, I will say I wouldn't be surprised if it is. Only because I have seen now way too many tweets of negative encounters or rebuffs from Jake.

And it's not a coincidence that on the day directly following the original posting of this Blind, that Mgmt had their paid accounts suddenly retweeting these pictures from the past of Jake smiling and taking pictures with fans, all very positive and delightful encounters. In fact, I posted them all right here on OMG.

It was a miracle!! lol.

**eye roll**

Jake's Mgmt, particularly ever since he joined up with WME, is oh-so-notorious now for manipulating Twitter and Facebook.

Holy cow, are they ever. In fact, if you were to suddenly decide to get on Twitter for the past couple of days and do a search on Jake, you would find yourself wondering if Prisoners had just been released for the first time. That's how many hyped up tweets there are right now oversaturating his search of false accounts going on about seeing Prisoners for the first time, it's the best movie ever, everyone should go see it, blah blah blah.

Sell, sell, sell, sell.

It is so darn obvious to me that his people are behind this sudden resurgence of Prisoners promotion on Twitter.

And why would that be. Why this sudden rebirth of everything that is Prisoners and Jake's mullet haircut in that movie.

I see exactly what they're doing. It's award nomination time and his people are out there like an army selling him for nominations.

I mean, I don't see anything with a bit of marketing.

But what I don't like is the buying of accounts and posting of praise by people who have probably never even seen the movie.

Whatever happened to good, honest hard work and letting that do a lot of the talking? Whatever happened to earning an award the good hearted way?

Why all this lobbying that is going on now in Hollywood? Because that's what it is. Why do bearding games need to be played and all the schmoozing and kissing up to in order to get with the "in" crowd? I don't see much difference between politics and Hollywood, I really don't.

It's very disheartening, I have to say.

This site is not up for sale.

It's not up for takeover.

At least one of us is always around. And watching, keeping an eye on things.

Don't ever forget that.

Blind Gossip’s Credibility Gap

I came across a good assessment about BG today on one of the Larry Tumblr sites. It definitely is not the same source it once was. Either the site publishes obvious known information about a celebrity or celebrities such as with this Jake and Hugh post about the promotion of Prisoners, or the site intentionally focuses on uncorroborated scandal and/or the seedy side of the entertainment industry, often without any independent corroboration regarding the scandalous allegation. Too bad because Ace used to be far more uplifting and careful about what he was writing about. Who knows if Ace is even still there? If he is, he certainly has traded credibility for outright sensationalism. Just another valueless and/or mean spirited "insider."

Six months ago, Blind Gossip was a different site. It followed a predictable pattern: a blind was posted, carefully worded to provide numerous but well hidden subtle clues. Eventually, many of them were solved when other crdible new sources broke the story. BG’s solved items would point back to breaking news in People, The New Yorker, etc. We would all then be able to review the evidence and see that BG had very credible information.

Three months ago something changed. Around the time BG went witchhunting Glee and The Jonas Brothers, the tone of the blinds changed. I once likened it to a soap opera that recasts an existing character. One day there is a new face, a new voice, and the audience is expected to simply pretend nothing has changed. But at BG, the tone of the Blinds became darker, meaner, almost as if there was a personal score to settle. And then a whole series of new blinds began to get solved without any credible news source corroborating the story at all. We were suddenly expected to take their word for it, even when their only evidence was “we know”.

My theory (read opinion, since I don’t state that clearly enough :p) is that Blind Gossip was either sold, or otherwise underwent a radical change in editorship and staffing sometime in the last 3-6 months. While it is still amusing entertainment, it now seems too hellbent on character assassination without evidence for my liking.

Oops! I meant 'I don't see anything objectionable with a bit of marketing. lol

That tumblr post makes me very sad. Very sad. It's a sad state of affairs because how many times do we need to see this happen?

How many times do you need to be hit over the head with a mallet before you say ouch?

Perez Hilton changing his tune.

Jonathan Jaxson getting railroaded out until suddenly he's putting up a post promoting & pushing Taylor Swift with Jake? What?

Ted Casablanca doing a 180 by encouraging Grey Goose to leave Tooth before being railroaded out of E!

The blog next door being obviously and hostilely taken over.

No, it doesn't surprise me at all about Blind Gossip.

It shows that money talks and money rules. It shows that there is a bidding price for many in HW. Very, very sad.

LOL! I just call that haircut: helmet head.

And, Just Jared used to be more suggestive, as well. He is nothing but a mouthpiece for PR now. A friendly collaborator who follows the party line. Cha-ching!

It’s telling though, that Jackman extends himself to the fans no matter what the circumstances, while Gyllenhaal only seems to muster up the interest and niceness when it comes to more formal, staged events.

Except Jake used to be very approachable and friendly with fans and paps. Although it's true that he had a longstanding diva reputation for acting up on set and clashing with directors, fans seemed to love him. In fact, there were many pre-2007, personal accounts that pointed to how kind and responsive Jake used to be with his fans. He didn't mind taking time to sign autographs or answer their questions. Instead of like now when he only likes to be all smiley and bushy-tailed when the cameras are rolling, or only when he's trying to sell something.

The question is what changed his attitude and this is where the timing comes into play. Once he hooked up with Reese and the Toothy and Goose saga really took off with the Baby Tile addition, Jake changed completely. Not only that, but he has devolved further which each passing year. A complicated, secret life can make you all kinds of grumpy and paranoid that someone might ask an awkward or uncomfortable question.

One of the first characteristics/traits that drew me to Jake was his open friendliness with the paps. He seemed so easy going and I liked that.

Interesting. I was visiting some entertainment sites before I came here and wondered why I was seeing mentions of Prisoners like it was new, and here is the explanation. This site misses nothing! And for those of us who've been observing Jake for a long time, it is so apparent that he changed after BabyTile came along. Most commenters who are doubters were not following him long enough to notice the difference. I think the blind mentioned first came up on Enty lawyer and Jake and Hugh were the primary guesses.
