Gone Country

There are different ways of going country as seen this week.

Here's Austin's.

What's more formal than a tuxedo tee?

Woo wee! Camo. Match you hat with your shoes? Try hat to your waders.

Dutch courage?

Check out the last minute guest who dropped in.
Yup it's exactly what you think.

Check it all out here.

It's not the first time Austin's gone country and said something very important.

He always finds a way to say who he is and who has his heart.

Happy Austin Friday.

A sweet treat for Hanukkah.

Who said dreidels are only be made out of clay? Enough of these and the kids will be the ones spinning.

Edible Dreidels courtesy of Martha Stewart

Makes 12

* 12 chocolate kisses
* 8 ounces melted semisweet chocolate
* 12 marshmallows
* 12 thin pretzel sticks
* 2 ounces melted white chocolate

1. Dip bottom of chocolate kiss in melted semisweet chocolate. Press onto marshmallow; transfer to a parchment-lined baking sheet. Repeat to make 12 dreidels. Refrigerate for 10 minutes.
2. Cut a small slit in bottom of each marshmallow; insert 1 thin pretzel stick. Dip dreidels in chocolate, and return to baking sheet. Refrigerate until set, about 15 minutes.
3. Fill a resealable plastic bag with melted white chocolate; cut a tiny opening in a corner, and pipe Hebrew letters onto 3 sides of each dreidel. Refrigerate at least 5 minutes or up to 8 hours before serving.

Happy Hanukkah!

What the heck is a syncho?

Anywho, there is no way I think Austin is a Dead Beat Dad. Even if Jake and Austin broke up someday, I think Austin would move the earth and part the seas to remain in his children's lives. (Yes, I'm one of the "synchos" who think there is more than one BT.) Ted has already said that G2 has a family now and that there is one big Toothy family as recently as November 1st. Then there's Leadville in late August. I'm not saying that something didn't happen that has caused Jake to have to accelerate this fauxmance game. With the amazingly negative, even hostile, reaction, across the Internet there is definitely some high stakes gambling going on here. The tectonic shift might even be connected to that BI of T2 going back to dangerous sex, which Ted posted on November 12th. Ted indicated that it was a recent encounter. Jake flew into Los Angeles on October 28 and we know he's back in New York by November 6th for a press conference. I can only imagine how Jake's people went crazy over this one. I agree that something's change over the past few weeks. And, changed quickly. But, I don't think it has anything to do with Austin and Jake breaking up.

That sounds like a very sad man. Sometimes I think Austin has no one to blame but himself for his part in all this. But I think he is basically a gentle guy who can be manipulated by stronger personalities like Jake and Sophia.
People he happens to love. How he must feel if he still has feelings for Jake after what he had seen this week..

Jersey Tom said...

Seems like Maggie likes Taylor. I also think Maggie did not like Reese. Did Maggie not think Reese because Reese was a not a nice person? Was Maggie a little jealous of Reese? Reese has made a lot of money and Reese has an Oscar on her mantle. Maybe neither. Maybe Maggies thinks as many do that Jakes career is not on the upswing and she now knows how desperate he feels.

Looks like the Gyllenhaal family is quite the dysfunctional group.

I'm not going to say that Ted is saying BT1 is Jake's.

I say this because the munchkin in the Paris video and in the PoP crew picture is blond as blond. And while blond hair can darken over time, I still think the odds are that BT1 is Austin's due to the fact that his dad and nephew are blond, blond, blond, too.

Impossible to know for sure. I hope we find out someday before I'm dead.

prairiegirl said...

Another tip, guys!

Notice in that last letter that Ted referred to Toothy as T2, instead of Toothy or Tooth.

The "2" came just before Peek-A-Boo.

2 Peek A Boo's.

Yessssss! PG gets the gold star todayyyyy!!!!

Austin is one who can definitely make up his own mind, and make he own decisions. Austin is no weakling. He's a strong and solid guy. It might looks like he is playing checkers sometimes, but that fellow is play chess the whole time.

The early tweets sound like he is frustrated. Part must be from the situation going on, but think a lot has to do with not being able to do anything and watching the person you love getting beat up everywhere.

The last ones well that Austin being Austin the best way he can. ; )

prairiegirl said...

You know, I was as hacked as anyone else when the whole Jake/Slick thing came out. Those were some dark hours.

But there were so many predictions during Reeke that never came to fruition. So while during one frantic moment, one might grab their head and say 'Jake's going to blah, blah, blah.' or 'They're going to blah, blah, blah', I try to remember that fact. Jake never walked the red carpet with Reese. He never married Reese. Jake & Reese never went on that trip to what was it, India? Or something like that? Remember? So many of us were just waiting for the pictures. Never happened.

And while impossible to predict what's going to happen and yes, something bad can certainly happen, in the meantime - there's just too much other great stuff going on to stay down about it.

I've had a few clues today that really uplifted me as far as the guys are concerned. No, the present situation is totally not good or fun.

But I will remain one of the few still in their corner, no matter how silly or futile or unpopular it may make me. Doesn't mean I'm going to gush. I still have a ruler in my hand (LOLLLL!). I totally get everyone's opinions & thoughts. I'm just speaking only for myself. But I'm really, really going to try not to add any more swats to the beaten dog.

And these guys are being beaten like a rug outside during the Dust Bowl.

I'm glad Austin likes Cracker Barrel.

We have one in this area and I LOVE to go to their country store. So I go just to shop and don't even eat there. LOLLL! They have everything. Clothes, nightlights, Coca Cola stuff, rooster things, dvd's of classic shows, seasonal decorations, Yankee candles, and lots of retro candy. Cookbooks. Purses. TOYS!

It's very popular with families, very country-ish serving meat & potatoes kind of food. Don't go there if you're totally into health food. lol.

One of their trademark side dishes is their hash brown potato casserole. They serve it with just about everything.

But you'll see big parties of families there, hogging up about 3 tables or so. Families love to meet there at holiday times or weekends.

prairiegirl said...

It wasn't India. It was Egypt!!!

Okay, now I'm off to write. Get some more decorations out. I have the apt to myself and a free evening to play, play, play!!

And this is Friday!! Woohooo!! Time to slide - it's past time to slide down Dino's back and holler yabba dabba doo.

There is a great holiday song you guys should hear.

Special, you could play this song one day if you were so inclined. This thing is great. It's a classic!!!

"Everybody Knows the Claus" by Hanson.

You guys should hear this thing. It's a totally fun, totally finger snapping, rockin', laughable song. It's clean. It's simple. It's got a great melody.

And I think that's Taylor singing.

That Taylor - that kid is hot.

And the youngest one? Has anyone seen him lately? Wow.

Here comes Santa Claus
Doin' all those good things
Everybody knows the cause
Here comes Santa Claus
You know he's the big man
Don't mess with the boss

prairiegirl said...

One more thing and I'll leave you alone. This thing is funny. It came in an email at work - it made my big buddy belly laugh. You know, the tilt back of the head. Now that's a good laugh. This is funny. Need a laugh tonight? Check this out:

A little Christmas story

When four of Santa's elves got sick, the trainee elves did not produce toys as fast as the regular ones, and Santa began to feel the Pre-Christmas pressure.

Then Mrs. Claus told Santa her Mother was coming to visit, which stressed Santa even more.

When he went to harness the reindeer, he found that three of them were about to give birth and two others had jumped the fence and were out, Heaven knows where.

Then when he began to load the sleigh, one of the floorboards cracked, the toy bag fell to the ground and all the toys were scattered.

Frustrated, Santa went in the house for a cup of apple cider and a shot of rum. When he went to the cupboard, he discovered the elves had drunk all the cider and hidden the liquor.. In his frustration, he accidentally dropped the cider jug, and it broke into hundreds of little glass pieces all over the kitchen floor. He went to get the broom and found the mice had eaten all the straw off the end of the broom.

prairiegirl said...

Just then the doorbell rang, and an irritated Santa marched to the door, yanked it open, and there stood a little angel with a great big Christmas tree.

The angel said very cheerfully, 'Merry Christmas, Santa. Isn't this a lovely day? I have a beautiful tree for you. Where would you like me to stick it?'

And so began the tradition of the little angel on top of the Christmas tree.

Not a lot of people know this.

LOLLLLLLLL!!!! Is that great or what?

Cracker Barrel has been embroiled in controversy through the years, first with gay rights groups and then with claims of racial discrimination and sexual harassment.

Policy of discrimination against LGBT employees
In 1991, Cracker Barrel instituted a policy requiring employees to display "normal heterosexual values which have been the foundation of families in our society." The company refused to change their policy in the face of protest demonstrations by gay rights groups. After ten years of proposals by the New York City Employees Retirement System, a major shareholder, the company's shareholders voted 58 percent in 2002 in favor of rescinding the policy. The board of directors added sexual orientation to the company's nondiscrimination policy.[3]

Nonetheless, Cracker Barrel, along with Archer Daniels Midland and Nestle Purina Pet Care, achieved the lowest score (15 out of 100) of all rated food and beverage companies in the Human Rights Campaign's 2008 Corporate Equality Index, a measure of gay and lesbian workplace equality.[4]

Complaints of pattern of alleged racial discrimination against guests
In the early 2000s and again in 2006, Cracker Barrel faced accusations including a pattern of racial discrimination in its treatment of guests. After national press attention to these accusations, the company announced explicit policies intended to address the charges, and paid $2 million for race and sexual harassment at three Illinois restaurants.[5] Stores now display a sign in their front foyer clarifying this policy, as has become the policy after a similar incident involving Denny's restaurants.[6]
Alleged unlawful political campaign contributions
Cracker Barrel was among eight companies indicted and accused of making alleged illegal corporate campaign contributions to the Texans for a Republican Majority political action committee (TRMPAC), started by former U.S. Representative Tom DeLay, allegations that some considered unfair.[7][8] Less than five months later, however, all charges against Cracker Barrel were dropped

Cracker Barrel is headquartered in Tennessee, and think that is why Austin said Cracker Barrel. It seems like his hint that he knows what's up about the whole thing, and he would because don't think they make decisions without each other after all these years together.

It also could be that he was in TN too. You know since Tennessee borders NC.

Why wouldn't he know what's up? And the notion that he is sending out signals through his asanine tweets is absurd and childish. If he and Jake are still together then there would be no need for public tweets and I doubt that he is doing it as a shoutout to his "fans" he could give a shit or else he wouldn't e bearding.

You must don't think much of Austin if you think he would be following those 2 tools around Nashville, the same shit ws said when he was with Reese, I think he has some self respect and dignity.

Maybe he's jealous of all the coverage they are getting vs he and Sophia,LOL!!

Anyway if he knew the history of Cracker barrel, I don't think he would have used that, he should have said Graceland or something, tsk, tsk.

How sad to go through life always looking for the bad in things.

So sad to have missed out on Santa. Angels. Rainbows.

Cracker Barrel's hash brown casserole.

I love Cracker Barrel. I have great memories of my dad, mom, siblings, aunts, uncles, friends, niece & many meetings for breakfast or dinner.

"What're you going to have?"

"Think I'm gonna have the usual. Chopped Steak. Or else the catfish."

Meeting my mom & dad there I don't know how many times. Mom usually picked it because it's a favorite of hers.

Playing with that silly triangle game with the golf tees. You know, where you're supposed to end up with only one tee? Great memories of playing that with our niece and nephew.

Watching Mom & Dad leave with the kids to take them back to the house.

Another great meal and fun time.

Great. Thanks for bringing on the tears, Cracker.

Besides the points already made about Ted's comments today, here's a few more that tie Austin to Jake:

Dear Ted:
I totally heart Sophia Bush and Austin Nichols for their do-gooder ways. They are excellent role models for my kids. Does Austin have any kids of his own? Love ya lots.

Dear Hero Havic: (although Ted misspelled the word, which should be, Havoc this reference is a video game tie-in to Prince of Persia)

Nope—why would you think that? But kudos again to Soph and Austin. While I may think they're über-boring (Ted has used über in the past to talk about Jake’s early movies) in the bedroom department, they both are way into helping gulf efforts. And, ya know, talking about it every chance they get.

Dear Ted:
You've said that Toothy Tile doesn't plan on coming out ever, even though he once wanted to. Does that mean he's gonna go all the way and have a fake marriage and kids? Did he change his mind because he hasn't had a hit in a few years (well, ever)? If he had a real and undeniable hit, would he give coming out another chance? Thanks.
—Rooting for T2

Dear T2 Peek-a-Boo: At one point, I'd have said he'd never swap fakey (rhymes with Jakey) "I dos" but it's looking more and more like that might be exactly what his game plan is. And it's got nothing to do with hits: Tooth has had 'em.

I'm so happy Jake got to spend time with Ryan. Those of us who saw him at the New Yorker know that Jake really wants to do a project with Ryan. I think he might want to do a bit more with Ryan, but that's another story.

Of course Austin sends hidden messages in tweets. Did you not see SNL. Visual messages galore from Jake. Austin is a writer. Tweets would be his medium. And you know Austin is reading JJ, Dlisted, ONTD and the rest of them just like we do so he knows what a fiasco this latest bearding is.

Lengthy internet outage here this evening. How did I ever survive without the internet.

I must say that whoever cut Jake's hair for the Blue Valentine event should be shot. Poor Jake does not have good luck with his hair. Its beautiful on its own. That haircut makes him look so unattractive. Dorky. Possibly thinning in one area. Male baldness is actually passed by the female side so Jake's dad having a full head of hair may not mean Jake will keep his.

General sentiment is still negative all over the web, extending to the entire Gyllenhaal clan now. Craig Ferguson's guest tonight was Kristin Bell. She mentioned she went to see LAOD. Total silence from the audience and even Craig. They moved on to another topic without a moments notice.

One last thought before I hit the sheets. Yes PG, I agree, this too shall pass.

Discover something, even a picture which clearly reveals Austin next to Jake in Leadville CO, and there is an equal and negative reaction with an alleged explanation.

Just like when a doctor taps your knee and it jerks, you know? You can count on it.

No, I liken that little tip (and boy, somebody is following Austin's twitter closely, even digging into his twitter inbox because that revelation is not available to the casual observer like myself so somebody is sure on the Hunt) - I liken that little tip as an easy explanation for Austin to be able to follow the radio show. "Oh yeah, see? This is why. Someone tweeted him out of the clear blue sky and told him he should. So he did!!!! Amazing!!!"

Nope - if anything, it comes out as even more suspicious. But hey, thanks for pointing that out! Made me smile this morning.

I am coming late to the parade but I can concur that Cracker Barrel was a most unfortunate organization to "tweet" about. They are infamous for their prejudice against gay people.

I have never seen two people promoting a film like Anne and Jake are promoting LAOD. Every day they are in a newspaper, magazine or television segment promoting it passionately. Really too bad the film cannot live up to their chemistry and sincere belief in the film and in Zwick, who let them down big time with his limited pool of talent. I agree with Destiny that if it had stayed more focused on the pharmaceutical theme and its increasingly creepy bedfellows relationship with Doctors and hospitals the film (in the right hands) could have been a searing condemnation of the industry.

Could the reason perhaps be because he has a recent interest in the land down under because of a certain significant other who is travelling there this weekend? Explain the bloomin' onion reference, which already has been pointed out was posted on November 17th? Oh, I know, someone tweeted him to recommend the restaurant appetizers because they are so delish. Hmmmmm. Wonder why Austin didn't "friend" them too. Give it up. Someone on WFT2 posted the following regarding Taylor's BV name, Priscilla of the Desert:

Btw, Priscilla (was) Queen of the Desert - an Ozzie film about a bunch of musical drag qweens who performed across the country so Ted's 'Priscilla' could have a strong musical inference here.

Great film, btw. Do see it if you can.

So I don't think the Aussie references have to do with Jake going there, but with Taylor, especially the Blooming Onion. Oh yeah, in light of that, Cracker Barrel is so a reference to Taylor.

prairiegirl said...

Great quote from Amber Heard. She's spot on.

I'm still not getting how Slick relates to Australia or the blooming onion?

I happened to notice that JJ did a post yesterday afternoon of the pic of Maggie G, Slick and Ramona. The first page of comments were brutal, not a single positive one. I think Maggie made a big mistake by tainting herself with this fake relaysh. Here are a couple that I thought were good:

Funny how everybody was so staged and apple pie in the sky happy looking for these photos. Then the ones taken later in Nashville J & T looked totally bored and not even standing or sitting close to each other. Their camps had it backwards.. the lovey couple should have been staged in Nashville instead of NY. Would have been a bit more believable.

isn’t this cozy? I don’t think this relationship is going to go anywhere. And WHERE does US Weekly get this info? Do they have someone that was inside Maggie’s house to watch Taylor helping with the dinner? And all these “Sources Close to” and “Friends of” is BS. If I had people close to me blabbing to the press about my private life they wouldn’t be my friends for long!

US Weekly just LOVES to focus in on certain celebs and ever since Jake was hanging around reese, he got on their radar . It must have been killing them all these months when he was alone (or worse when he dodged the paps by leaving LA for several months to parts unknown (well unless someone tweeted his location, but it wasn’t like they were falling all over themselves to rush a reporter to Brooklyn to sit outside Maggie’s home and click away. I applauded him on getting a break from it all. But why invite more of the same by being seen with a high profile woman like Taylor (she is on every mag cover, she was on Ellen yesterday, she just sang no interview. I bet Ellen was dying to ask her about US weekly cover)

Just an interesting change of events for Jake, he seemed to enjoy being out of the limelight and then suddenly he is back in it promoting LAOD and suddenly seen with TS? He was looking like a lumberjack all summer, beard, hair disheveled. no way he was seeing someone looking like that. And then what? he was sitting around having a beer and like lightning he HAD to see TS?

This whole thing is very strange. IF Jake is serious about wanting to settle down he better find someone outside the industry or low key (like his sister and her husband. you don’t see them being hounded by the paps)

find a woman closer to your age, Jake, some non celeb and you can finally have the opportunity to settle down and have kids like you say you want.

notice in these pics thayve all got a bag like theyve been shopping. props is what that is called.

PG, the link to Australia is that Taylor Swift's blind vice name is Priscilla of the Desert. Priscilla, Queen of the Desert, is an Australian film shot mainly in the deserts of Australia.

Outback is an Australian steakhouse. I think the reference to Bloomin' Onion was an excuse to bring up the place, and, who knows, maybe even a reference to the whole thing. Blooming as in showy, but onion as in stinky????????

Saw a comment somewhere, forgot where, about the Maggie photo that I thought was great. Someone said that Maggie and Taylor are pretending to carry on as if they don't know a photographer is there, but that Ramona is looking right at the camera. Yep.

The pics would have still been reprehensible but, at least, they would not have brought an innocent child into this mess. Then again, maybe Jake put his foot down and told his handlers, "Atti? No effing way you're going to use my big guy for that kind of crap!" Perhaps Jake does have some standards, after all? LOL.
